I heard that the lunch of tendon and seafood bowl is delicious, so I went to Tempura Sakaba Wakafuku in Tanishi. They offer dishes like Tendon topped with fluffy egg, limited edition seafood Yukke bowl, seafood assorted bowl, and tendon with seasonal firefly squid and sardine. The restaurant is located on Honmachi Street, on the basement floor of the Daiaparesu Building. There are many attractive dining options in the building, such as New Baybe, popular for its branded pork tonkatsu, and Albero, known for its delicious pasta. It was past 12 pm on a Saturday, so there were only a few customers. The interior of the restaurant has a counter with 7 seats facing the kitchen, 2 tables for 4 people, and 1 table for 2 people, totaling 17 seats. Lunch is served from Monday to Saturday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm (closed on Sundays) *Closed on some Saturdays and Mondays, please check the latest information on the restaurant's Instagram page. The Tendon for 800 yen includes one shrimp, white fish (on this day it was kisu), and 4 kinds of vegetables. The Jumbo Tendon for 900 yen includes Tendon plus one shrimp. The Shrimp Tendon (2 pieces) for 800 yen has two shrimp instead of white fish (Shrimp Tendon with 3 pieces for 900 yen is also available). In addition to the regular lunch menu, there are many handwritten menus using seasonal ingredients, making it hard to choose. The handwritten menu for that day included: - Firefly Squid and Shrimp Tendon 900 yen - Sardine and Shrimp Tendon 900 yen - Mountain Yukke Bowl 900 yen - Bluefin Tuna Mountain Bowl 950 yen - Tuna, Sea Bream, and Negitoro Three-color Bowl 950 yen - Yellowtail, Salmon, and Negitoro Three-color Bowl 950 yen - Seafood Assorted Bowl 1,000 yen - Karei Simmered Fish and Sashimi Set Meal 1,000 yen - Tempura and Sashimi Set Meal 1,100 yen I was interested in the Sardine, but this time I decided to try the Firefly Squid and Shrimp Tendon, which can only be eaten at this time of year. They quickly fried and served the Tempura after ordering, surprisingly fast, and the hot Tempura was ready in about 5 minutes. The Firefly Squid and Shrimp Tendon for 900 yen (Firefly Squid, one shrimp, and 4 kinds of vegetables) looked delicious with lots of Tempura! The Tempura sauce was served separately, so the Tempura remained crispy! I immediately tried the Tempura of Firefly Squid. Oh, it's so fragrant! The Tempura had a crispy coating, and the Firefly Squid, with a slightly rare texture, had a burst of flavor and seafood essence in the mouth. There were about 5-6 Firefly Squid, which was very satisfying! The vegetable Tempura also had a firm texture. The pumpkin was soft, the eggplant was juicy, the lotus root was crunchy, and the shishito pepper Tempura had a nice flavor. I was also delighted with the large shrimp Tempura! The thick and sweet shrimp had a firm texture. The meat was packed tightly, and this shrimp Tempura was really delicious! The Tempura sauce for the Tendon was light and not too sweet, so you could enjoy the crispy Tempura with the sauce without it being too heavy. The chopped seaweed on top of the rice also paired well. The bowl seemed to offer extra rice, but the amount of rice in this Tendon was sufficient. The chopped pickles were a nice palate cleanser, and the clear and rich red miso soup was a good companion to the Tendon. It had plenty of large seaweed and green onions. The staff and the master were friendly, making it comfortable even for first-time visitors. It's popular and can get crowded during peak times on weekdays, but on Saturdays, it was smooth and comfortable to enter. They also post the monthly business calendar, which is convenient. Next time, I might try the popular seafood assorted bowl on Instagram, or maybe the shrimp Tempura was so delicious that I might go for the Shrimp Tempura Bowl... I want to continue visiting this restaurant. Thank you for the meal!
