Located along Chuo Street in Iwamizawa City, this soup curry restaurant originated in Fukagawa City. During the day, they serve soup curry, and at night, it transforms into an izakaya. A unique feature is that all rooms are private, allowing you to enjoy your meal without worrying about your surroundings. I ordered the "Fluffy and Tender Beef Tripe Soup Curry (1,100 yen)." The dish arrived after a short wait, served in a hot stone pot, keeping it piping hot until the end. In addition to the classic carrots, potatoes, eggplant, and bell peppers, there was plenty of beef tripe. The spices were mild, possibly to enhance the umami of the broth, making it easy for even those who are not fond of spicy food to enjoy. While soup curry prices in places like Sapporo are increasing, here you can enjoy it for around 1,100 to 1,200 yen, which is great value. On a Saturday lunchtime, a few cars were parked in front of the store, but the inside was quiet. Personally, I think it would be nice if the restaurant were a bit more popular.

Yesterday, I had ramen twice in Asahikawa, so today I decided to try soup curry for a change! The restaurant was an izakaya with private rooms for four people, a bit noisy but fun (laughs). From the enticing menu, I chose the "Handmade Hamburger Soup Curry (1200 yen)". I selected a spiciness level of "5. Spicy" and a regular serving of rice (250 grams). The menu described it as "soup curry made with a blend of shrimp and chicken broth with original spices". The soup was spicy and easy to drink, without an overwhelming broth flavor. The dish had a decent amount of ingredients, not too much but not lacking either. The hamburger was a bit firm, might need a knife to cut through. The potatoes were more firm than fluffy, and unfortunately, some clam shells were broken and I bit into a piece while eating the hamburger, which was disappointing. Considering the location, the price was reasonable. This was my first experience with soup curry, and I look forward to trying more varieties in the future!

I had a sukiyaki-style soup curry with sirloin beef - it was my first time trying something like this! You cook the beef a little bit in a bowl, then add curry soup to flavor it. It was really delicious! Eating fresh rare meat like this is a treat. It was so good, I can't wait to come back!

Visited a soup curry restaurant in Iwamizawa city on September 18, 2019. The main branch seems to be located in Fukagawa city. Here, they serve the curry in a hot pot, so be careful as it's really hot and bubbling! The restaurant has a semi-private izakaya-style setting. The ordering process is pretty standard: you choose from 4 types of soup, level of spiciness, amount of rice, and toppings. I ordered the following: Handmade hamburger for 1080 yen, with a flavorful soup, level 5 spiciness, 300g of rice (large portion for an additional 100 yen), and no toppings. The soup indeed has a strong broth, but it's not a gentle soup. It's on the sweeter side with no acidity, so opinions may vary. It could be described as sweet and spicy. The hamburger was big and satisfying. Thanks for the meal!

I tried the soup curry in Iwamizawa that I was interested in based on a follower's review last fall on the way to Takikawa. The soup curry, which was brought in about 10 minutes, was boiling in a clay pot. The soup was spicy and thick, and the rice was a bit disappointing as it was soft. There were plenty of vegetables, and the meaty hamburger was large and satisfying. The raised seating area, designed like a private room, was quite cold as the heating was not well distributed since the store had just opened. However, after eating the soup curry, I warmed up so much that I started sweating. Thank you, "Sendou"!

Iwamizawa seafood izakaya "Sendou" is a popular izakaya that also serves soup curry during lunchtime, following the trend of dual-purpose shops. The interior of the restaurant has a strong izakaya atmosphere with lively background music, but the walls display recommended local sake. During lunchtime, smoking is prohibited. One recommended dish is the beef stew soup curry with a spicy flavor. The rice comes in a large portion of up to 400g for free, and various vegetables are included in the dish. The surprising part is the piping hot soup that comes bubbling in a Korean cuisine style pot, allowing customers to heat it directly on the stove. The generous amount of soup is satisfying, and eating with a ladle is enjoyable. The ample soup and the satisfying rice style make the meal enjoyable. The stylish shallow soup served in elegant dishes, eaten with a spoon, is a pleasant experience. The soup curry, which is usually considered troublesome, is a simple and easy-to-enjoy dish with a base of possibly chicken and seafood with just the right amount of spice. Although this review mentions the Iwamizawa branch, it makes you wonder if there are other branches as well. Overall, it is a good value for money restaurant.

Recently, every time I try to eat out, the first restaurant I want to go to is often closed... This time, the place I wanted to go for squid rice bowl was temporarily closed (cries). There was a soup curry restaurant nearby that I had never been to before, so I decided to try it out. It's called Soup Curry Sendo Iwamizawa. They seem to operate as an izakaya in the evening. The parking lot in front of the store was full, so I parked at the affiliated parking lot next door. When I entered the store, a lovely lady greeted me with a beautiful smile. It felt nice. Even though it was through a mask, it felt like it had been a while since I was greeted with such a smile... Since it's in an izakaya format, even if you're alone, you'll be led to a private room with a digging kotatsu. I looked at the menu and decided on my order. I chose the Soft Chicken Classic Soup Curry for ¥1,100, with a spice level of super spicy level 7 and regular rice. It was served in about 10 minutes. The soup curry was served in a stone pot. It reminded me of Bagu Bagu in Sapporo. The ingredients included chicken leg, broccoli, carrot, potato, pumpkin, cabbage, wood ear mushroom, eggplant, shimeji mushrooms, and inedible bay leaf. There was also a fork and a spoon in the cutlery case, but it was a rare sight to see a ladle instead of a spoon. Oh, is the bay leaf in there to give it a soup curry taste? But it's delicious! It goes well with rice. As for the spiciness? It's supposed to be super spicy level 7, but for me, it's more like a medium level. I'm not even sweating. ← I may have made a mistake in choosing the spiciness. I'll use the excuse that it's my first visit... The vegetables are cut into large pieces. The chicken leg is tender and not smelly, easily cut with a ladle. Personally, there are some slightly disappointing aspects as a soup curry, but considering the amount of soup curry, the size of the ingredients, and the price of the toppings, the cost performance is good. Also, the customer service is great, and they have a wide variety of soup curry on the menu, so I will consider revisiting. Next time, can I bring my own basil? Also, I think it would be nice to have lassi on the drink menu. I thanked the staff member who sent me off with a smile when I paid, and said "thank you for the meal!"

I visited for lunch on a regular day. This place specializes in soup curry for lunch, and turns into an izakaya at night. All seats are private rooms, so you can relax comfortably, and the staff are very friendly. I ordered the hand-kneaded hamburger soup curry for 980 yen. The spiciness level was 3 (medium), and I chose a small serving of rice (150g) with a free topping of half-boiled egg. By the way, you can get a free upgrade to a large serving of rice up to 400g. After waiting for about 30 minutes, the curry arrived in a bubbling hot iron pot. The beef curry my companion ordered was even more intensely bubbling and impressive. The hamburger curry had a big hamburger patty placed right in the middle, making a big impact. Despite being in the soup, it was juicy and delicious! It seemed to be made of 100% pork, with no unpleasant smell and tasty meat. Under the hearty hamburger, there were small potatoes, deep-fried broccoli, cabbage, burdock root, carrots, watercress, shimeji mushrooms, pumpkin, and fried eggplant. There were plenty of different types of vegetables, but the portion of each seemed small. However, the sweetness of the vegetables complemented the soup curry and hamburger, providing a satisfying meal. We were treated to coffee after the meal. Next time, I would like to try the hot pot from the izakaya menu at night. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived around 1:30 PM on Saturday. There were 4 cars parked in the parking lot, but it was unclear how many customers were inside due to partitions. The main store is located in Fukagawa City. It operates as a soup curry specialty shop during the day and as an izakaya at night. The interior of the restaurant is more like an izakaya with more partitions compared to the main store. I came alone but was seated at a table for two in a sunken kotatsu style. There was one server in the dining area, and the kitchen was not visible. The menu was the same as the main store. I ordered the "Soft Chicken Classic Soup Curry" (980 yen) with a spice level of 3 (medium spicy), regular portion of rice (250g), and free topping of wood ear mushrooms. A complimentary cup of coffee was also included, but I declined. The dish arrived in about 15 minutes, with the soup boiling in a stone pot. The soup was rich, flavorful, and delicious. It tasted almost the same as the main store, with a nice depth of flavor and sweetness from the vegetables. The chicken was tender and easy to shred with a spoon, and had a good marinade. Even at spice level 3, it was satisfying for those who prefer medium spice. Overall, the taste was faithful to the main store's dashi-based flavor, and I was satisfied with the deliciousness. The prices were the same as the main store, ranging from 980 yen to 1180 yen, making it a relatively affordable option for soup curry. I think both this branch and the main store deserve more recognition.

It was located on the outskirts of the street. At night it's an izakaya, and during the day it's a soup curry restaurant. I don't have high expectations for this kind of place, but I love soup curry so I decided to give it a try. The restaurant has private rooms and is clean and cozy. The staff are also very friendly. Even though I hadn't eaten spicy food in a while, I chose the super spicy level 10. They offer a free topping, so I chose okra. The soup curry came in a hot pot similar to bibimbap, with plenty of ingredients and soup. It was delicious but... it was really, really spicy. The intense heat knocked out my taste buds. The okra started to look like pickles, and I ended up leaving about half of it uneaten. If you eat spicy food often, you might be able to handle it, but for me, it was a sharp, intense heat that completely overwhelmed me. It was like the hell ramen at Kirin in Iwamizawa. I've never tried the extra spicy level, but if I'm feeling brave, I might be able to handle the medium spicy level. This was the second time I couldn't finish a dish because it was too spicy. I feel regretful. My friend's level 5 spiciness wasn't too bad. The hamburger was delicious, and the owner's beautiful voice was very appealing. I want to revisit with a spiciness level of about 7 next time. 😄

In October 2016, there is a restaurant in Iwamizawa that serves soup curry during lunchtime. It seems to be a branch of a restaurant in Fukagawa, where I had soup curry before and it left a strong impression on me. I was looking forward to visiting this time. There is a parking lot in front of the store, but I had a hard time parking. Inside, there is a wide selection of alcohol lined up. I was guided to a private room with sunken seating. I looked at the menu and decided to go with the chicken soup curry, which comes with a choice of one topping for free during lunchtime. I chose avocado. The spiciness level goes up to 10, and although I remembered the spiciness from the Fukagawa store, I still went with level 10. I ordered a small portion of rice and was offered hot or iced coffee as a service. I chose iced coffee. It took about 10 minutes from ordering to serving. The soup curry arrived in a bubbling hot stone pot, which already got me excited. They even provided paper aprons, which was a nice touch. I tried the soup first, and it was indeed spicy! The soup had a good balance of spices, umami, and richness without being powdery. The spiciness was the most intense I've had in a while, probably around level 10 of Chutta's spiciness. I could taste the kick of habanero. The vegetables included braised cabbage, carrots, shimeji mushrooms, potatoes, deep-fried eggplant, bell peppers, pumpkin, etc., all cut into easy-to-eat pieces. The chicken was tender and delicious without any off-flavors. The rice was locally sourced from Iwamizawa and was fluffy and shiny. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

A new soup curry restaurant that I learned about in the June issue of a certain monthly information magazine. The seafood izakaya "Sendou" in Fukagawa has opened a branch in Iwamizawa, offering soup curry only during lunchtime, just like the main store. I decided to stop by for lunch on my way to Sapporo this time. There is a coin parking lot across from the store, but surprisingly, there is also a parking lot in front of the store. The entrance to the store is located in the back from the road, so it's hard to notice the parking lot in front of the store until you get close. There was only one car parked, so it doesn't seem too crowded. When I entered the store, I saw many bottles of local sake lined up, making it clear that it's an izakaya. I mentioned that I was visiting alone, and the male staff led me to a private room with a sunken kotatsu table. Of course, I had to take off my shoes, and as someone who always wears lace-up work boots when going out, getting up to the raised seating area is a bit of a hassle for me (laughs). The menu for soup curry was placed on the table, and I ordered the chicken soup curry with a spice level of 10. The male staff kindly explained, "It's quite spicy," but when I mentioned that I had tried level 7 at the main store and that I like spicy food, he understood. The chicken soup curry that came out was served in a stone bowl like bibimbap, not the long narrow bowl like at the main store. "Oh, it's bubbling. Uh-oh, I might burn my upper palate..." I muttered to myself (laughs). Yes, I don't like cooling down hot food, so the burn on my upper palate is visible. And when I took a sip of the piping hot soup, "Wow, delicious!" That's right. It was even more delicious than when I had it at the main store, with more richness. You can choose one free topping, and I chose mushrooms, which I think go well with soup curry. The clams in it also give it a seafood izakaya touch. Surprisingly, I'm not a fan of seafood curry, but the clams were unexpectedly delicious. The vegetables were also cooked with care, the chicken was tender, and the flavor was well infused, making it very delicious. It was sad that the pioneer of soup curry in Iwamizawa, "SEIZE THE DAY," and the not too heavy but not too rich "GOYEN" closed down, but I'm happy to see a new soup curry restaurant opening. As I got into my car and casually licked my upper palate, I realized that I had indeed burned it (laughs). Thank you for the meal.
