Last time, I visited the stylish Chinese restaurant "Yui" for a lunch drink on Saturday afternoon. Two weeks later, I revisited with my family on a holiday night. By the way, when I called for a reservation in the early afternoon on the day, the table seats were full and only the counter was available. It seems to be quite popular.
Regarding the dishes I ate, compared to lunch, the dinner menu has a wide variety of single dishes. In addition, the staff verbally introduced the recommended dishes of the day that are not listed on the menu. Let's try ordering and eating dishes that catch our interest, from the classics to the recommended dishes of the day.
The dishes I ate that day were like this...
- Spring Rolls (3 pieces for 750 yen): The skin was crispy and crunchy, and the filling inside was gooey and delicious. It goes well with a fizzy Shanghai Highball.
- Black Vinegar Sweet and Sour Pork (1400 yen): The pork used in this dish is lean pork loin, so it's not fatty but tender. The rich and intense flavor of black vinegar goes well with it.
- Xiao Long Bao (600 yen): A recommended dish of the day, the steamed dumplings were thick and chewy, with a burst of soup inside. Very juicy and delicious.
- Tajima Chicken Spicy Fried (1400 yen): Another recommended dish of the day, the crispy fried chicken with a generous amount of spice on top was flavorful and went well with drinks.
- Large Shrimp in Chili Sauce (1300 yen): The classic shrimp dish was enjoyable, with a nice texture and mild spiciness.
- Shrimp Miso Fried Rice (1200 yen): An interesting dish with shrimp miso, the fried rice had a good mix of flavors, but the slight seafood smell from the miso was a bit disappointing.
- Char Siu (1200 yen): Roasted pork with a miso-like sauce, crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside. Goes well with Shaoxing wine.
In conclusion, the two recommended dishes of the day, Xiao Long Bao and Tajima Chicken Spicy Fried, were highlights. The Char Siu was also unique and delicious. The total bill for the day, including drinks like beer, highball, Shaoxing wine, jasmine tea, and non-alcoholic beer, came to 10,990 yen. It was a satisfying meal.
