There are many different kushikatsu restaurants, but I was always curious about this one that uses breadcrumbs from a bakery that they are particular about. I finally tried it today, and the kushikatsu had a very light and crispy texture, not greasy at all. I could eat as many as I wanted if I was hungry. They have a variety of menu options, so I would like to visit again when I'm hungry. It was a bit disappointing that the beer and chu-hi were served in paper cups.

I visited the restaurant without a reservation, just before 9:30 pm. It was almost time for the last order, but I managed to try the 13-piece course with ochazuke. The trendy skewers were served piping hot, so I couldn't even take photos before digging in. The best one was the edamame skewer with a paste-like texture. I will definitely go back again.

I arrived right at 7:00 pm. There was only one woman managing the counter. I ordered the Tipsy Set (beer & doteyaki) for 600 yen excluding tax, and the Sashimi Set (5 pieces of kushikatsu) for 680 yen excluding tax. The doteyaki was a great snack to have with my draft beer. The kushikatsu was on the smaller side, but the batter was light and crispy, not greasy at all. It didn't leave me feeling heavy. There were three other customers who ordered takeout and enjoyed a drink while waiting for their orders. They each paid around 7,000 yen, so they must have ordered quite a bit to take home. The kushikatsu here is more refined than the famous "Daruma." Highly recommended!

I used this restaurant during my business trip to Osaka. It is a place known for serving kushikatsu using the famous Rapan breadcrumbs from the local area. This was my first visit, and I enjoyed a set with a few kushikatsu skewers, potato salad, and pickles while slightly tipsy. The sauce used to be a two-dip limit, but now it comes in a bottle for pouring. They used to offer a kushikatsu bento, but not anymore. The beer in the tipsy set comes in a plastic container, which some may find lacking in charm, but I actually prefer it over a glass. The kushikatsu was delicious, with no particularly unusual options, but all very tasty. I especially enjoyed the beef kushikatsu. The breadcrumbs were great, and none of them felt heavy on the stomach. The homemade pickles and tsuchiyaki (grilled meat) in the side dishes were the most delicious. The pickles had just the right amount of sourness, and the tsuchiyaki was rich and tender, bursting with flavor. Both were made with care and were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

There used to be a bakery called "Rapan" with several stores around Juso area. They were well-loved by the locals, with TV commercials featuring a catchy jingle "Pan Pan Pan, Rapan no Pan♪". Now, there's only one remaining in the south of Juso Park called "Rapan An". One of the eateries using Rapan's breadcrumbs is "Sakusaku" in Toyotsu-cho, a skewered cutlet restaurant. Today, I visited for the first time with friends from other industries. It's a bit of a walk from Esaka Station, making it a hidden gem for a casual drink. They open at 5 pm, and when we arrived around 5:30, there were already two customers. The counter has about 7 seats, and there are additional terrace-like tables with vinyl sheets set up outside, accommodating around 3 groups of 3. The counter is non-smoking (IQOS allowed), while the terrace allows smoking. They mentioned that when it gets crowded, they close the door between the terrace and counter for complete separation, but it was open when we were there. We decided to sit at the end of the counter and move to the terrace only when smoking. We started with the "Tipsy Set" which included (Potato Salad) and (Doteyaki) for each of us. This set, available until 7 pm, comes with a draft beer (390 yen) or chu-hi (350 yen), and either the potato salad (250 yen) for 500 yen, or the doteyaki (380 yen) for 600 yen. It's a great deal for a casual drink. We then ordered skewers by writing on a paper provided. We got the "Beef Cutlet," "Quail Sausage," "Bacon Tomato" each for 2, and the "Sakusaku Set" for sharing. The cutlets were light and crispy, thanks to using Rapan's breadcrumbs and okara powder. The homemade sauce, a blend of chicken broth, red wine, and miso, was slightly light and paired perfectly with the cutlets. The sauce bottle on the table allowed for easy refills. The cozy atmosphere and delicious food made us order more skewers and beers than planned. The restaurant also had orders coming in from delivery services like Demae-can and Uber Eats, showing that many people enjoy their skewers at home. It was a delightful experience chatting with the female manager about eateries in the Juso area. #Esaka #SkeweredCutlet #CasualDrink

After work, I visited Kushikatsu Sakusaku in Esaka. It's within walking distance from my place, so I've been curious about it for a while and finally made my first visit. They used to open during the day initially, but now they are open from Monday to Saturday from 5pm to 11pm. They are closed on Sundays and public holidays. I ordered the tipsy set for 600 yen which came with beer and doteyaki, and the Sakusaku set for 680 yen which included 5 pieces of kushikatsu. First, I tried the doteyaki. It was not too sweet and went well with the beer. The kushikatsu was really good, as expected from a bakery. They make their own breadcrumbs for the kushikatsu, and they have a high focus on health by using okara powder to reduce carbohydrates. The breadcrumbs were very fine and the kushikatsu was lightly fried. It might be even better than famous kushikatsu places in Osaka. Also, you can pour the sauce over the kushikatsu on the plate, so you can enjoy it without worrying about double dipping. I plan to stop by here more often in the future. Thank you for the meal!

At the sister store Rapan, I usually reserve and buy their shokupan (white bread), but this was my first time coming to eat kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers). Despite the cold weather, there were a lot of customers bustling about. The sauce, oden (Japanese hot pot dish), and breadcrumbs were all homemade and each one was so delicious that you couldn't help but become addicted. The kushikatsu was crispy and light, and I ended up eating too much. The tendon (beef sinew) in the doteyaki (simmered beef tendon) was melt-in-your-mouth tender and absolutely delicious. I definitely want to bring my kids to this restaurant.

The homemade pickles are incredibly delicious! The skewers with light breadcrumbs are also very tasty.

During the day, I stopped by Umeda and then made my way to Esaka, but the sunlight was too strong so I decided to stop midway. I heard from a drinking buddy I met through work in Esaka that a new kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) restaurant using breadcrumbs instead of batter had opened in the place of the former Lapin. I passed by Butter Mae and arrived just in time before 6 o'clock. Two kushikatsu skewers before dinner were just right. They had quail and beef skewers, which were indeed crispy and quite tasty. They also had curry rice with skewers and other creative options, which I look forward to trying. The restaurant is standing-room only, with a few people inside and two standing tables outside. Esaka has been seeing the construction of solo-living apartments every year, so I believe the demand for standing eateries like this will continue to increase.

I found a new kushikatsu restaurant that I had been wanting to try and visited today. It was a small place, with seating for about 4-5 people at the counter. I ordered shrimp, lotus root, sausage, cheese-filled fish cake, ham, green pepper with meat, and potato kushikatsu. The sauce was a bit too sweet and the potatoes were hard. They didn't have the usual squid and octopus kushikatsu, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it seems like the restaurant is still figuring things out since it's newly opened, but I hope they continue to improve. It's a convenient spot for a quick bite in between activities, and the prices are reasonable.

There are three stores of a bakery called "Rapan," but the owner also started a kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) restaurant. The restaurant is standing-only, with a counter that can accommodate about 5 people. Smoking is allowed outside. There are also three round tables outside. From 3 PM, there is a special set for 500 yen, which includes beer and 2 kushikatsu skewers (can only be ordered once). I had lotus root and asparagus bacon skewers. This place offers a rare type of kushikatsu in Esaka where double dipping is not allowed. The batter is thin, which I like! There are also many individual menu options, making it convenient for quick drinks. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I wanted to try deep-fried skewers made with Lapin breadcrumbs, so I ordered the curry with skewers. After ordering, I waited about 5 minutes for them to be fried. The curry was moderately spicy and delicious. The skewers were made with beef, onions, and shishito peppers. Towards the end, I felt like there wasn't enough curry sauce left. I wonder if the sauce amount changes if you order a larger portion? The skewers had a soft coating and a gentle flavor.

The crispy skewers at SAKUSAKU make my heart leap... Cheers to today♪♪ Located near Esaka Station on the Midosuji Subway Line, this restaurant used to be a bakery called "lapain." It had three locations in Esaka, and the Trois location has now become a skewer restaurant. Hence, the sign includes "bylapain." Starting with a beer, cheers♪♪ Orders are taken at the counter inside (click on the photos to enlarge). Skewers are priced around 100-250 yen each. There is a standing area next to the counter, but on this sunny day, we chose to stand outside at the table. The skewers have a fine bread crumb coating, not greasy at all and so crispy! Truly a result of the bakery's dedication to quality fresh bread crumbs! We finished them in no time and ordered more, along with Camembert skewers and red wine. It's impossible for them not to be delicious! A must-have at a standing bar, a quick drink on the way home, and the hot dogs from the skewer restaurant also caught our attention. Opened on March 3rd (Thursday), it's still new and the service is a bit slow, but it's a unique addition to Esaka, so I'm happy about it♪♪ I look forward to visiting again. It used to be a bakery, but it was renovated into a kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) restaurant. I bought a bento box on my way past during lunchtime. I realized that freshly fried skewers are the best. I'm not sure how long they have been fried, but the skewers were cold and a bit greasy. I bought the bento box and ate it right away. It cost around 500 yen, I think. It seems to be lively as a standing bar at night, so I think it's delicious to eat at the restaurant. However, I was a bit disappointed with the bento box.

The restaurant seems to be overwhelmed, perhaps because it just opened. Takeout orders were also being accepted for the first time, but the process was chaotic with orders not being fulfilled in order. The food was decent, but overall the restaurant seemed disorganized. It might be worth visiting again once they have settled into a routine.

In the evening, I decided to get some takeout for dinner. It seemed like they had just opened as it was quite chaotic, but I bought a few pre-made skewers. They looked cute and elegant. It was disappointing that the service was lacking, which was a bit sad. Later, I found out it used to be a different restaurant, which made more sense. I hope to have the chance to try freshly fried skewers at the restaurant someday. Keep up the good work!

I visited the "Nanairo Bar" event in Esaka. The set menu included a highball and a set of 5 skewers (onion, ham, eggplant, okra, smoked wiener) for the equivalent of 600 yen with a pre-sale ticket. The restaurant is located a little further northwest from Esaka Station North Exit, so I was curious about it as I passed by on my bike on weekends. The restaurant has a casual standing skewer style with a slightly chic atmosphere. The 5 skewer set served was a bit safe in terms of ingredients. However, the thin and crispy batter and light sauce made it refreshing. Of course, it went well with the highball on a hot summer day. The regular menu includes a variety of seafood, vegetables, and alcohol options such as wine. The stand format has a stylish feel. The restaurant usually operates only at night, but it's a great place to stop by for some skewers after work. Overall, it's a stylish and casual skewer restaurant that I would like to visit again.

I have used this place several times. They fry with breadcrumbs, so it's low-carb and crispy on the outside, which is delicious. Beers and highballs are around 500 yen each, and you can order several skewers of your choice for around 2000-2500 yen. The cozy atmosphere of the small shop gives a nice homely feel.
