Our restaurant is located in Kawaramachi and is rated 3.56 (as of August 2023) as one of the Next Top 100 restaurants. It is a popular spot with customers constantly coming in. The prices are slightly on the higher side, starting at over 1000 yen. On weekends around 1:30 pm, the restaurant was about half full but quickly became almost full. [Food Ordered] Curry Tsukemen - ¥1100 It took over 10 minutes to be served. My first impression was "the noodles are overcooked...?" (Sorry) The noodles were quite soft and lacked firmness, which may not be to everyone's liking. I was offered to have the soup reheated or diluted, but I declined and finished without. However, it was a relaxed and easy-going ramen shop. It would be perfectly fine for a solo female diner. Thank you for the meal.

The other day, "Kyoto Tsukemen Tsurukame Rokkaku" celebrated its 13th anniversary. This popular ramen restaurant, located in the bustling Shin-kyogoku area frequented by foreign tourists, offers a variety of delicious noodle dishes. Customers purchase their meal tickets from the ticket machine on the left side of the entrance before entering the restaurant. The menu includes four types of tsukemen (dipping noodles) - fish sauce, Nishiki miso tantan, umami spicy, and curry, as well as ramen, soupless pork noodles, and side dishes like fried chicken and chashu rice. I ordered the simple fish sauce tsukemen, which features a rich fish broth with hidden ingredients like chashu, green onions, thick menma, seaweed, and kaiware on top of thick, firm noodles. The noodles have a distinct texture and go perfectly with the fish broth, making it a must-try dish at this popular tsukemen restaurant.

Visited around 7 pm on a regular day and there were a few empty seats. The place was bustling with students and people finishing work. It was my first visit, and I tried the simple fish sauce dipping noodles (990 yen). The rich fish broth soup combined with medium-thick noodles was delicious! They also offer soup refills and reheating, which is great for enjoying the noodles. It was tasty, thank you for the meal!

I ordered a curry tsukemen that is not available at the main store. First, the dipping sauce is made with a delicate seafood broth, not too strong, with a subtle seafood flavor. Next, the noodles are thick and satisfying to eat. Lastly, the topping chashu on top of the noodles is moist and incredibly delicious! After finishing the noodles, I mixed the remaining dipping sauce with soup to drink it as soup broth. At the bottom of the soup, there are various granules of different flavors, which spread a variety of delicious tastes in the mouth and are truly enjoyable.

A few minutes' walk from Kawaramachi Station in Kyoto. Today, I stopped by here. First, I purchased a meal ticket at the ticket machine. I sat at the counter seat designated by the staff and ordered the Nishikyo miso tantan tsukemen. Let's dig in! The dipping sauce is labeled as Nishikyo miso, but it actually has a strong sesame flavor. Despite having chili oil, it's not very spicy, so if you like it hot, you may want to add more (although there is only shichimi pepper on the table). Soup refills are also possible, but the saltiness isn't too strong, so you might just end up drinking it all without diluting it. Anyway, it was delicious! There are no hand towels or anything on the table, everything is self-service near the entrance. There are no instructions inside, so improving this aspect might make the experience even better.

I had some business to attend to in Kyoto Nijo and decided to have a late lunch. I wanted to have ramen, so I did a quick search and visited a few places, but many were closing at 3 PM. Finally, I found this place. Since I was in Kyoto, I chose a ramen shop that felt Kyoto-like. I ordered the Tsukemen with Nishikyo miso. It took about 15 minutes for the noodles to arrive, as a group of foreign tourists entered at the same time. The restaurant had about 10 counter seats and 2 tables. The Nishikyo miso dipping sauce had a nice balance of miso sweetness and rich broth flavor, which was quite delicious. The noodles were medium-thick, with a smooth texture. They had a good firmness, but I personally prefer them a bit more al dente. Overall, I was satisfied with my choice. Thank you for the meal.

The Harvest Festival of Kyo Komugi 2023 Kyo Komugi ❌ Tanba Kogen Pork Tsukemen for 1100 yen. I was a little tired of my usual lunch, so I decided to come here occasionally. I arrived a bit late and heard a hint of the troublesome menu typical of Jiro-style ramen. I'm sorry. Please tell the chef here. It will take a little time. That's okay, I bought a meal ticket so I'm prepared to wait. I finally got seated after 25 minutes. Cooking was a bit troublesome, huh? Anyway, I don't have much time so I just gulp it down. There's barely any soup to soak the noodles in, so I just eat quickly as it's almost time for my lunch break. This place seems to be crowded, especially with people coming from the Jomon period. I wouldn't recommend it for those who are strict about managing their time, especially travelers.

Near the temple town in Kyoto, there are many stylish shops and gourmet restaurants. I heard about a place that serves delicious noodles with a unique edge, so I decided to try it out! I ordered the classic fish sauce tsukemen. It was incredibly delicious, but what really impressed me was the service of reheating the dipping sauce. It may seem simple, but it was greatly appreciated! I left feeling very satisfied.

I went for the first time in a while and was happy to see that they are open all day. I went around 2 pm so it wasn't crowded. Unfortunately, they no longer offer free extra noodles, which is disappointing. I had the rich seafood dipping noodles and it was delicious as always. I wish I could have gotten a larger portion.

On the first day of my trip to Kyoto, I was wandering around trying to decide what to eat when I stumbled upon this restaurant. The entrance had a nice atmosphere, so I decided to go in. The menu was quite extensive, with various types of tsukemen such as seafood, tantan, spicy, and curry. Although I was tempted by the seafood soy sauce ramen, I wanted to try the Kyoto tsukemen, so I chose the seafood soy sauce tsukemen for 990 yen. The thick noodles were chewy and went well with the soup! The noodles were topped with bamboo shoots, seaweed, and green onions, which I ate together. I also asked for soup refills and enjoyed it until the end. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I had a snack at Ramen shop called "Kyotsukemen Tsurukame-san" in Loft with a retro atmosphere. I sat at a table in the back and ordered the fish sauce ramen and the Kyoto-style miso tantan tsukemen. The fish sauce ramen had a well-balanced flavor. The Kyoto-style miso tantan tsukemen had a Kyoto touch with the sweetness of Kyoto-style miso, spicy chili oil, and a sesame flavor. It was a great combination with the noodles. It's also convenient that they are open all day.

I visited "Tsukame Rokkaku" after a long time, aiming for the "Chilled Jet Black Ramen." I decided to go for the chilled version this time and ordered the limited option 1 from the ticket machine. The ramen that came out had a jet black soup with two pieces of chicken chashu and one piece of pork chashu. It also had green onions and bamboo shoots, looking delicious. When I tried the soup, it was slightly soy sauce spicy and had a hint of soba broth flavor. The combination of soy sauce spiciness and the sweetness of onions made it a perfect taste. The flat noodles were delicious, as expected from "Tsukame Rokkaku." The chashu, both pork and chicken, had a great meaty flavor. Squeezing lemon halfway through added a nice change in taste. I might just like this limited option.

I visited the restaurant a little after 12 o'clock. The place was crowded but I was seated at the counter right away. I decided to try the "Curry Tsukemen Small" (1,000 yen) which I had never had before. The bowl that was brought to me was topped with chopped green onions, shredded red chili pepper, kaiware radish, deep-fried paprika, and eggplant, giving it a summer feel. The thick noodles used were made with whole wheat flour, giving them a chewy texture and a rich flavor of wheat. The dipping sauce had a curry aroma with a sharp spiciness, and it had large pieces of onions and simmered pork chashu in it. The noodles paired well with the sauce, and dipping the vegetables like eggplant and paprika in the sauce made them tasty as well. I finished by adding soup to the remaining sauce. The noodles were delicious, the ingredients paired well with the curry-flavored dipping sauce, making it a perfect summer tsukemen.

Ramen Festival 2022, 2nd stop: Nishikyo Miso Tantanmen for 1000 yen. This is Larry's second stop. I've never tried mazesoba before, so I was tempted, but I decided to go with the reliable Tantanmen. The noodle portion is 200g. The chewy noodles with sweet Nishikyo miso and a slight spiciness that kicks in later. The chashu has a slight hint of a strange taste, but maybe that's just personal preference. This dish is a safe bet when you come here! Regular ramen is good too, but why not start with this one first?

Today, I went to the area around Kawaramachi for an early dinner and decided to stop by a popular ramen shop's branch. Kyoto Tsukemen Tsurukame Rokkaku is a branch of the popular tsukemen shop Tsurukame. This particular branch is located on Rokkaku street. At the entrance of the shop, there was a ticket machine where you purchase your meal ticket before entering. I chose the "limited edition" pork ramen at the Rokkaku branch. The interior of the shop has a calming atmosphere with walls that have a turtle shell-like hexagonal pattern. Behind the counter, there was a large pot where the staff was busy mixing. I handed over my meal ticket at the counter. The pork ramen I ordered was a dry style ramen, also known as "maze-soba." It was topped with thick slices of chashu pork, bamboo shoots, seaweed, seasoned egg, green onions, watercress, and shredded red chili pepper. The staff advised me to mix it well before eating. Even the regular size had a generous portion. The noodles were thick and had a chewy texture that absorbed the flavors of the sauce well. The crunchy bamboo shoots added a nice texture to the dish. The pork was tender and flavorful, and the chashu slices were deliciously marinated. I managed to finish the whole bowl, which was quite satisfying even in the regular size. The total cost for this meal was 980 yen, which I found to be quite reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food.

Visited for the third time in December 2021. There is a famous ramen shop in Kawaramachi, but there are other shops that seem more popular. Today, I had originally planned to go to the main store, but there was a long line, so I decided to go to Rokkaku instead. The shop is a typical counter ramen shop with table seats at the back. It is a bit unclear as it is a ticket system and the product details are hard to understand. The shop is generally dimly lit. It's not a trendy ramen shop, just a regular one. There is a place to hang coats behind the counter, which is helpful in winter. I ordered the pork mazesoba for 980 yen, which is exclusive to the Rokkaku branch. When ordering, they confirmed the amount. I ordered the large size, which is a total of 1 kilogram, and they asked if I was okay with that. The way they said, "Make sure to finish it all," was a bit off-putting. The mazesoba arrived in about 10 minutes. It looked quite greasy with a lot of black pepper, like a typical junk food mazesoba without soup. The noodles were medium thick. The taste was rich and heavy, especially the pork was delicious. The menma had a strong flavor and was also good. The flavored egg was large and flavorful. The garlic and seaweed also added good flavors. Overall, it was delicious. Despite being 1 kilogram, the noodles were not thick, so I finished it quickly, feeling like it was about 500g. I would rate the ramen 4 stars, and the staff/atmosphere 1 star, so an average of 2.5 stars. The young man was friendly, but the employee who served me had a terrible attitude. They chatted among themselves and ignored the customers coming and going. They only provided the minimum level of service. Is this a shop with such attention to detail? Being told to finish everything was annoying, but the attitude was disappointing. The ramen was delicious.

I visited the restaurant for lunch on Thursday, November 11, 2021, after a long time. The interior was about 60% crowded. I purchased a ticket for curry tsukemen at the ticket machine and sat at the designated counter seat. I ordered the regular serving size of 200g of noodles. After that, I was surprised to find out that the seasoning for flavor change on the table was gone. Now, they have a system where you have to ask for black pepper after the curry tsukemen is served. Despite this change, the taste was still delicious as always!

I visited the restaurant around 17:50 on Sunday. There was one group of customers before me. I ordered the Pork Ramen (regular size for 980 yen). The pork was deliciously seasoned but quite salty. The tasty black pepper, white negi, and mitsuba were overpowered by the saltiness. It felt like a waste. There was a generous amount of pork toppings, which would normally be enjoyable for protein lovers, but all the pork was three times saltier than pickles. It was delicious, and I didn't want to waste the protein, so I ate it all, but I couldn't help but think it was like a slow suicide with such a high salt intake despite having high blood pressure. I drank a lot of water. The noodles were thick and had a good texture. However, they were also salty due to the pork seasoning. It would have been better if they had used less sauce at the bottom of the bowl.
