"Flandi's Nijo Castle" in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City. At the moment, despite having a Tabelog score of 3.53, it ranks 1028th in the Tabelog "Kyoto Prefecture" ranking out of approximately 21,000 restaurants. Additionally, it ranks 77th in the Tabelog "Kyoto Prefecture [Bread]" ranking. Impressive. I visited for a takeout of bread. The store is located very close to JR "Nijo Station", just a 1-2 minute walk away. It is located on the first floor of the commercial facility "BiVi Nijo". Upon arrival and entering the store, I purchased two types of bread for a total of 390 yen, with credit card payment accepted. - Purchased Items - ● Twist Donut 170 yen (tax included) ● Danish 220 yen (tax included) I enjoyed delicious bread. It seems like a traditional bakery that values the taste and aroma of authentic French bread. They use fresh butter and carefully selected ingredients to make bread that is fermented at very low temperatures. Offering over 150 types of bread including classic French bread, sandwich bread, and Danish, is likely a major factor supporting its popularity. The business hours from 7 am to 9 pm are also convenient. All the breads were delicious with no disappointments, which is wonderful. "Flandi's Nijo Castle" is known for its hard bread, sandwiches, donuts, cream puffs, and more. If given the opportunity, I may visit again. Kyoto Prefecture has many outstanding famous restaurants. It is a region with a rich food culture. Renowned establishments such as Kyoto cuisine "Kusakui Nakahigashi", Japanese cuisine "Mizai", Italian cuisine "Yamaguchi", meat dishes "Niku no Takumi Miyoshi", and Japanese sweets "Kyogetsu" compete and strive for excellence. There are also many long-established shops with high skills and techniques developed over a long history. Visiting "Flandi's Nijo Castle" in such a city full of popular restaurants and having a quality dining experience was very meaningful. I hope to continue learning from the gourmet knowledge of others, expanding my knowledge, and deepening my experiences in the future."

The shop is located in a convenient location right by the station side entrance of Bivi on the west side of JR Nijo Station. It opens from 7 am in the morning, making it convenient to stop by on your way to work or school. This time, I bought two breads:
- Anpan (190 yen): The bread dough is moderately soft, with a firm texture and sweet red bean paste filling. It can be enjoyed not only for breakfast but also as a light lunch option. The dough is not rich in butter like French-style bread, but more of a traditional Japanese style.
- Honey apple, macadamia nuts, and cream cheese natural yeast bread (260 yen): Although not large in size, this bread is dense with a sweet honey apple filling and a slightly firm cream cheese. One piece is satisfying enough.
Despite being categorized as a regular bakery due to its early opening hours, I felt that they put a lot of effort into the quality of their ingredients. The sandwiches and muffins I previously purchased were also delicious, and my family enjoyed them as well. Although it may be a bit pricier, I believe it's a bakery worth visiting for a slightly higher level of quality. It's definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area.

I had a sandwich with bread, eggs, and tomatoes for 915 yen. I visited with a rating of 3.53 on Tabelog. They have parking available, with a large parking lot next door. It was my first time trying this place. I arrived around 9 am on a Sunday morning. Even though it was early, there were already people lining up, which got me excited. The sandwich was moist and delicious.

The selection of items is better than when I bought them at a different store before, and I'm having a hard time deciding what to buy. There are only three terrace seats in front of the store. The curry bread is excellent. It has plenty of filling, isn't too spicy, and is crispy without being too greasy.

I heard that the chef at this French restaurant uses their own baguette, so I immediately went to buy one. It seemed to be just freshly baked. Lucky me! I couldn't resist and ate it as soon as I got home. The baguette was fluffy and crispy on the outside, and soft and moist on the inside. When I warmed it up a bit, it felt like restaurant quality.

There is a bakery on the first floor of Bivi at Nijo Station. I used to frequent it a lot in the past, but I stopped by after a long time passing by. Noir Series 240 yen Zane Chocola 220 yen Mixed Sandwich 450 yen Hard Bread 480 yen I was drawn to the nostalgic bread that has always been there and purchased what I always used to eat. Zane Chocola has chocolate cream inside, but it tasted sweeter than I expected. The Noir Series has dark cherry and homemade custard. This one didn't taste as sweet as Zane Chocola. All of them are delicious and safe to eat daily bread. I would like to revisit if I have the chance.

I completed my mission of trying ramen in Fukuchiyama with my Seishun 18 ticket. Next, I planned to visit the Gunze Museum in Ayabe and buy souvenirs at the local market, but unfortunately, it was closed on Tuesdays. I then tried to go to a day trip onsen near the station, but it was closed as well. In the end, I gave up and took the train from Enbu to Kyoto. I bought some unique souvenirs at a store near Nijo Station, including a French-style mentaiko bread, bacon cheese bread, and ham sandwich. They were all delicious and reasonably priced. It was a fun experience exploring different places thanks to the Seishun 18 ticket.

Located a 3-5 minute walk from Nijo Station, Bakery Flandre's Nijo branch is a popular bakery with several locations in Kyoto. This particular branch is open from 7am to 9pm, making it convenient even in the evening to choose from a variety of breads. I purchased their popular items: Curry Bread, Pizza, and Chocolate Croissant. The Curry Bread, filled with plenty of curry and the texture and flavor of beef tendons, has a satisfying chewiness. The combination of mayonnaise and tomato sauce on the Pizza is delightful, and the Chocolate Croissant, filled with the sweetness of chocolate, is delicious. This bakery is a must-visit in the Nijo area, so be sure to stop by when you're in the area. Thank you for the meal!

This is a bakery located inside bivi, right near Nijo Station. When I visited around 8:00 on a weekday, there were many types of bread lined up since the morning! I bought a curry fried bread, and payment with PayPay or LINE Pay is possible. When I tried it, it was crispy because it was fried, with one side having thin dough and the other side being quite thick. The thick side felt a bit overwhelming. The curry was on the sweeter side, and I wished it had more depth of flavor. Thank you for the meal!

I had some errands nearby and decided to visit this place for the first time because it seemed to have good reviews. However, the staff was unfriendly. The price was high for what I got - a tomato and chicken cutlet sandwich plus a croissant for 610 yen. The taste was just average. It was supposed to be a nice lunch on my day off, but I ended up feeling disappointed.

There is a popular bakery called Freandies Nijo store located on the 1st floor of BiVi Nijo, in front of JR Nijo Station. They have four stores in Kyoto city. Inside the store, you can find a variety of bread such as French bread, sandwich, and Danish. The Viennese sausage sandwich (320 yen) is made with coarsely ground smoked sausage. The soft Viennese bread, delicious sausage, and plenty of mustard create a great combination. The cheese roll (170 yen) is made by sandwiching cheese between the dough, topping it with egg and mayonnaise, and then baking it. The harmony of cheese, egg, and mayonnaise is excellent.

Today, I visited a bakery located in BiVi Nijo in front of JR Nijo Station in Kyoto.
FRIANDISE is a popular bakery chain in Kyoto. The owner of the popular bakery Le Petit Mec used to work at FRIANDISE for about 4 years before branching out on his own. FRIANDISE means "gourmet" or "sweets" in French. The main store is located in Kitaoji, and this store is the Nijo branch.
The spacious store had a wide selection of bread displayed. There was a counter for eating in the corner of the store, but there were no chairs, so it may be takeout only due to the influence of COVID-19.
Located in a prime location in front of the station and during the evening hours, customers came in one after another. I purchased three different breads.
- Noir Series: A dark cherry tart with four cherries on top. The folded dough had a beautiful cross-section. Below the dark cherries was homemade custard cream. The combination of not-too-sweet dark cherries and sweet custard cream was delicious.
- Marron Pie: A small pie coated with sugar on top. It contained candied chestnuts inside and was on the sweeter side. The pie crust was very crispy and had a pleasant texture.
- Curry Fried Bread: Made with homemade curry cooked with various spices for a long time. It was crispy on the outside with a crunchy bread crumb coating. The curry roux contained meat and carrots. The oil from frying was a bit noticeable, but the flavor was deep and enjoyable.
I enjoyed all three breads very much!

I parked my car at a nearby coin parking near Nijo Station and went to Kamizonoen. I haven't been walking much lately, so I walked around and got 5,000 steps. I had lunch at Vivi Nijo and then bought bread at Freunds Nijo store. The food was a bit pricey, but the aroma and texture were good, so I think it's worth the price. However, the cream in the cream puff, which was a "new product" for some reason, was not to my liking. This area near Nijo Station has many famous shops, so it's convenient for those using the station. Overall, I would rate it as okay. Thank you for the meal. Also, on this day, as a measure against the new coronavirus, there was no eating in at the store. Thank you for the meal.

A bakery located on the 1st floor of the commercial facility BiVi Nijo, next to JR Nijo Station in Kyoto. They sell various types of bread such as white bread, sweet bread, and savory bread. It is a take-out only establishment with no seating area. One of their baked goods is the scone (chocolate & macadamia nut), which is a type of baked confectionery. The scone contains chocolate chips and macadamia nuts, giving it a crumbly texture that is unique to scones. The flavor of the scone dough is subtle, allowing you to fully enjoy the sweetness of the chocolate chips and the crunchiness of the macadamia nuts. The scone is quite substantial in size, providing a satisfying eating experience. While it is recommended to eat it with jam or clotted cream, it is also delicious on its own.

Freundees is a chain of bakeries with several locations in Kyoto. I visited the one right outside Nijo Station, where I noticed they tend to sell out quickly at night. I couldn't find any curry bread, so I decided to come back the next morning for another try. I bought the Moatie, a fancy-sounding baked curry bread, and headed back to my accommodation to eat it. The bread was soft and moist, with a refined yet rich curry flavor. They also had a new fried curry bread option, but I stuck with the Moatie. I believe that the type of curry that goes well with fried bread is different from the one that goes well with baked bread, and this curry was definitely meant for baked bread. It might be fun to try both and compare. They have other bread with fancy names as well, which adds to the enjoyable experience.

I had a hard time choosing because all the bread had a chain store-like appearance. I ended up getting a mini bread made with rice flour and corn for ¥130 including tax. The dough was stretchy and had a factory-made taste, but it was decent. I also chose the "Apple and Sweet Potato Natural Yeast Bread" for ¥200 including tax, which seemed reasonably priced and tasty among the options. When warmed up, it had some unique flavors and was delicious. However, if not warmed up, it was just average. Almost all the bread was priced over ¥200, which felt expensive, similar to the prices in Kyoto. If the bread was slightly larger, it would cost over ¥200. I visited this place a few years ago but didn't remember it at all until I entered. I recalled that I had eaten here before going to the movies four years ago. At that time, I also felt that it was just average. This time, I found that there were very few reviews on Tabelog, and after eating, I understood why. It's more like a place for a quick bite or everyday use. It's not bad at all.

I visited this shop on a holiday morning. It is located near JR Nijo Station. The store is filled with delicious-looking bread. It was hard to choose from so many options! I decided on the Woof (180 yen) and the Zane Chocola (190 yen). There was seating available inside the store, so I ate there. The Woof is a boiled egg and mayonnaise bread, while the Zane Chocola has a special chocolate cream filling. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. 2018.10.08. Foodie. 2657 reviews (Kyoto: 4 reviews)
