I stayed near Tennoji Station on a business trip in Osaka. Tomorrow morning, I will be taking the Shinkansen back home... so tonight is an important night. The heat is still intense, with temperatures exceeding 35°C. I decided to search for a restaurant while requesting a certain ingredient. I walked around the back streets of Tennoji and the area around Abeno Harukas, and chose the izakaya specializing in kushikatsu called "Kame-chan Tennoji Store". This restaurant, with its catchy name and slightly flashy exterior, seemed welcoming to an outsider like me. The inside of the restaurant was quite busy, but there was space at the counter, so I easily found a seat for myself. I ordered two drinks, lemon sour and yuzu sour, to start with. I ordered the potato salad first, which was served on a bed of mizuna with a soft potato salad on top, topped with a warm egg. It may be a bit much for one person, so it's better to share with 2-3 people. I also ordered the "Senshuu Mizunasu Nasu", a dish I had been wanting to try in Osaka during the summer. It was slices of raw eggplant topped with bonito flakes, soy sauce dressing, and grated ginger. It was sweet and refreshing, almost like a fruit. I wanted to break the whole eggplant with my hands and eat it, but maybe next time. Then, I had the kushikatsu. The first set of 5 included beef, pork tenderloin, squid, pickled ginger, and cherry tomato. The second set of 3 included young corn, lotus root, and conger eel. I felt a bit full after finishing the meal without ordering more kushikatsu. I wanted to order 2-3 more skewers without the potato salad. The total cost was around 3,000 yen. Thank you for the meal.
