On the last day of the holiday, for lunch, I decided to try out the Awaji Island Burger from "SHIMAUMA BURGER," a burger shop near Fukutoshinjin Station that opened in the spring. My wife had been keeping an eye on it since it opened, and she had already bought it with the kids and they loved it. I also wanted to try it, so I finally got the chance to try the Shimauma Burger. The shop is located just west of the Fukutoshinjin Station crossing, right next to the UFJ Bank ATM. The road is not very wide and there is a lot of traffic, so I didn't feel like driving there (of course, there is no parking lot). Since my home is nearby, I walked there excitedly. Looking at the burger menu, even though I didn't need a drink since I was eating at home, I was tempted by the potatoes and onion rings. However, I heard that the basic Awaji Island Burger is the most delicious and that one burger is enough to fill you up, so I bought just the Awaji Island Burger. I purchased a ticket from the vending machine and handed it to the staff, who then gave me a buzzer. They start cooking the order after you place it, so there was a wait of about 10 minutes. It would have been wise to call ahead and place an order over the phone to avoid the hassle. I had the impression that hamburgers are a food that young people like and that older people do not eat much, but surprisingly, the customers before me, the people who came after me, an old man, and even an elderly woman who came later all enjoyed it. Now, I finally got to eat it at home. The Awaji Island Burger is indeed quite voluminous, as rumored. The Awaji beef patty, overflowing from the whole wheat buns, is sandwiched between Awaji Island fried onions, cheese, bacon, and lettuce, all held together with homemade mayonnaise and tomato sauce. The fluffy whole wheat buns absorb the umami of the patty and the sweetness of the Awaji Island onions. Delicious. To be honest, when I think back to the high-end hamburger I had at the Hard Rock Cafe in the past, the patty is not of that quality, but it is much tastier than the patties from typical hamburger chains. I enjoyed it with an iced coffee for lunch, but pairing it with a cold beer would undoubtedly enhance its flavor. And one burger was enough to fill me up. While you could eat the side menu as well, in terms of quantity, this was sufficient. For women, if you order a side menu as a set, you might not be able to finish it all. A delicious burger with generous portions made from good ingredients. At 700 yen per burger, it's quite a deal. It may feel expensive compared to the image of hamburger chains, but considering the high cost of ingredients, it's a well-priced burger. I was very satisfied and will definitely be a repeat customer.
