Ueto Salon & Bar in Higashiyama, Kyoto is a cozy bar open from 2:00 PM. The simple yet tea room-like decor creates a welcoming atmosphere, and there is a woodworking workshop space on the second floor. They mainly serve natural wines. On this day, I enjoyed the "Amazing Herb Gin and Tonic" from Kajitani Farm and the "Sansho Pepper and Wood Bud Gin and Tonic," both refreshing and garnished with a variety of herbs in the gin bottle. The "Pudding" was lightly sweetened with a subtle caramel sauce, and the whiskey-infused version made for a sophisticated adult treat. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

A cozy bar near Higashiyama Station. As night falls, the number of tourists decreases, creating a quiet atmosphere. They offer a wide variety of alcohol, and even if you don't have much knowledge, they explain the characteristics of each drink in an easy-to-understand manner. I ordered two types of whiskey. The vanilla one was over 60% alcohol, but it was smooth and delicious.

I went to a lovely bar in Kyoto. It's in the Higashiyama area near Heian Shrine. I chose a cocktail at the toast bar because I wanted something fresh. I had a cocktail with Nashi pear and champagne. I also ordered delicious chicken ham, sliced thinly and beautifully presented! The cheese was from Yoshida Ranch and it was so tasty. For my second drink, I had a natural wine with a slight fizziness. It was delicious. The bar opens around 3:00 PM and there is no cover charge early in the evening. It's a great place for a break during sightseeing.

In October 2022, I had a cocktail made with pear and champagne. I could hear the sound of pears being blended in another room. When it was placed in front of me, I could smell the sweet fragrance of pears. The unique texture of pears remained, making it feel like eating a cocktail. It was incredibly delicious, and I wanted to have another one, but since the price was not written on the menu, I decided to stick with just one. It turned out to be the right decision. It cost 1,980 yen for one. Pear cocktail was amazing!

Ueto-san is located near Higashiyama Station in Kyoto. I was taken there by a regular customer of Kyoto. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very Kyoto-like. The sake is not displayed on shelves, so just looking at the photos, it could also look like a Japanese restaurant. The quiet and calm atmosphere is a high-quality space for adults. The cocktails were delicious. I would like to try this restaurant as a second place to eat in Higashiyama again.

The menu changes daily, with limited fruit-based cocktails available. I came here specifically for the hyuganatsu cocktail I saw on Tabelog, but it wasn't on the menu. There are only a few fruit options and not much variety. There are no sweet cocktails! As someone who enjoys alcohol but prefers milder drinks, I was a bit disappointed. We had four drinks each and it cost 12000 yen. The prices seem a bit higher compared to other places. The cocktails are not very unique or elaborate. The location is great, just a 5-second walk from the station. The atmosphere is calm and sophisticated, with a hint of hinoki wood fragrance and a single wood counter, giving it a Kyoto-like vibe. However, it may not be suitable for solo diners or younger women. The atmosphere is great for couples or older gentlemen. Just for your reference.

The amount is the amount paid per person for splitting the bill. It was my third visit after a long time. I started with my usual ginger cocktail. I was with a friend who loves wine, so we ordered a bottle of red wine. It was in excellent condition and incredibly delicious. Everyone enjoys wine differently, but it was just so good.

I visited the New Year limited wine bar "Ueto" again this year. Since it was before dinner, I had a light drink. The first glass was champagne. The second glass was red wine, and I compared it with my companion. The choice of wine was excellent. I enjoyed delicious wine from the New Year. Thank you for taking care of me this year as well. ^_^

This bar has a lovely atmosphere and lighting! It seems like a great place for a date. They have many original cocktails that give you a different feel of Kyoto, making it a Feel so Good bar. And the pudding shown in the photos is too delicious, it's almost unfair (laughs).

It's been a while since I visited Ueto-san♪ However, due to the extension of the state of emergency, there was no alcohol served. This time, I participated in a parfait festival. Originally, it was supposed to be a gathering to enjoy parfait and alcohol pairing once the state of emergency was lifted, but it got extended, so we had soft drinks instead. What we had: Lemon parfait x2, Hojicha and Cassis parfait, Chocolate pudding a la mode, Bergamot soda x2, White red tea x2. This event is held every year and I've been curious about it for a long time, so I finally joined in♪ We ordered 3 parfaits with a 1 drink limit, and since we wanted to try them all, we each had 2. They were small so it was totally doable. Some people even eat all 3 by themselves. The event had a high percentage of women attendees, with a few solo female guests as well. Each parfait had a different delicious taste! My favorite was the lemon parfait, not too sour and very refreshing. The hojicha parfait had a great match with cassis. The chocolate pudding with plenty of fresh fruits was a classic favorite. When I asked which parfait was the most popular, I was told that people usually order evenly without favoring one over the others. However, during the final session, some parfaits may run out due to limited quantities, so they might have to turn down orders. I really wanted to enjoy the lemon parfait with champagne pairing that Ueda-san was planning to offer. It seems like Ueda-san had various pairing ideas in mind, including wine and champagne, but unfortunately, I couldn't try them. Despite that, it was a delightful and enjoyable time meeting the playful Ueda-san again.

I don't often venture to the Higashiyama area, but I have a list of shops I want to visit... Finally, I visited Ueto-san for a drink during the day at the third place. I sat at the slightly dim counter with a warm wooden atmosphere. I ordered a kinkan (kumquat) cocktail (I'm a sucker for limited-time offers). It had a unique flavor that I couldn't find elsewhere, and I was glad I came. I thought it would be a good spot for a second date as well.

Checked out Umean and walked over here. Ueto-san is open during the New Year holidays at "Wine Bar Ueto". I made a reservation at the end of the year. I greeted the first customer of the year, sat at the counter, and of course, ordered Champagne. The Champagne I received included 3 types: Jose Michel Champagne Special Club Brut 2013, Yuris Colan Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Les Mayons, and Benoit Lahaye Brut Nature Grand Cru. For red wine, I tried Van de France Sept Saint-Neel La Meme 2016 and Bourgogne Clos de la Vigne Grolle Tete 2016. On New Year's Day, we were served dashimaki with the Champagne. I had planned to try 3 types of Champagne from the beginning, so I asked for a recommended drinking order and enjoyed them accordingly. We also ordered 1 glass each of the 2 types of red wine to compare and enjoy. The background music was "Bird Songs" from the famous album by cellist Pablo Casals, who performed at the White House for President Kennedy. I am not knowledgeable about classical music, but my companion, who plays the cello, recognized it. There were photos of Ueda-san and his deceased dog, like a scene from a movie, which were a gift from an acquaintance on New Year's Eve. It turned out that the gift giver was someone sitting next to Kyoto Shizuka-san the other day. The photos were truly wonderful. And that concludes the whirlwind of dining out during the New Year holidays. After this, I went home and had a traditional New Year's meal of Tetchiri and Tessa on New Year's Day. For breakfast on the 2nd, I enjoyed Shirako Zosui. Home-cooked meals were delicious too.

I finally visited this restaurant after hearing about it from several friends. I arrived around 14:30 and there were two groups of regular customers. I had a cocktail made with pear and champagne. The fruit cocktails and food here are excellent! The atmosphere is beautiful, and you can feel the attention to detail in the glassware. Since I had already eaten lunch and had dinner plans, I refrained from ordering food and only had two drinks. It's a great place for daytime drinking, and I look forward to visiting for different occasions once the pandemic settles down.

This month, I visited Ueto-san for sushi once again. I made a last-minute reservation to secure a seat before heading there. Here's what we had:
- Champagne x2: José Michel Blanc de Blancs Clos Saint Jean
- Cardamom cocktail
- Hot cocktail with Japanese chestnut
I had the same champagne before, but this time it was a 12-year-old version. It's one of my favorites. The cardamom cocktail was made by soaking cardamom spices in vodka, giving it a minty and refreshing taste. The Japanese chestnut cocktail was a favorite of my companion, and I tried a sip - it was like drinking a Mont Blanc dessert.

As always, I visited Ueto-san before having sushi. This time, I was able to sit at the counter. I enjoyed the following:
- A pear and champagne X2
- A hot cocktail made with Japanese chestnuts
- Marguet Yeumann 15 Premier Cru Champagne, which is made 100% from Chardonnay grapes. It is dry, but has the fruity and elegant acidity typical of Chardonnay, creating a delicate flavor. I really love Chardonnay, so this was a favorite of mine.
- The combination of dry champagne and slightly sweet and creamy pear was fruity, refreshing, and elegant.
- I didn't try the Japanese chestnuts, but it looked like chestnut potage. My companion, who loves chestnuts, said it was delicious.
