I recently went to my favorite sushi restaurant, "Sho-chan Sushi," in Matsunohama with my family after not being able to go for a while. We usually leave it up to the chef to choose our dishes, but we also make some requests along the way. Here is what we ate on this day: - Bay Scallop Simmered: The appetizer was bay scallops simmered until the liver was soft and rich, a perfect match for sake. - Fresh Indian Tuna Sashimi: The Indian tuna sashimi was fresh and had a tender texture with a delicious flavor. - Fresh Prawn Sashimi: The prawn sashimi was large and had a firm and sweet texture. - Corn Tempura: Crispy tempura made with fresh corn, perfect for summer. - Swordtip Squid Tempura: The swordtip squid tempura had a crispy exterior and a tender texture when cooked. - Swordtip Squid and Abalone Sashimi: The swordtip squid sashimi had a firm yet tender texture, while the abalone sashimi was crunchy and had a nice sea flavor. - Salt-Grilled Fish Collar: The fish collar, possibly yellowtail, had a delicious fatty flavor when grilled with salt. - Eel Bowl: The eel bowl included eel, rolled omelet, and cucumber, all mixed together with a delicious vinegar seasoning. - Eel and Cucumber Roll: A thick and fatty eel roll with a generous amount of sauce. - Shrimp and Mayonnaise Roll: A delicious shrimp roll with a crispy texture and a generous amount of mayonnaise. - Asparagus Roll: Another roll with asparagus and mayonnaise, a delightful combination. - Assorted 7-Piece Sushi: A selection of fresh and delicious sushi including horse mackerel, tuna, greater amberjack, sea urchin, conger eel, and more. - Fatty Tuna and Scallion Roll: A classic roll with fatty tuna and scallions. - Toro Nigiri: A final dish of fatty tuna nigiri, a perfect end to the meal. Overall, everything was delicious, but my favorites were the eel, swordtip squid, and fresh Indian tuna. I have been invited to Shochan Sushi a few times before, but this was my first time visiting the restaurant in Matsunohama Station, Osaka. The sushi here is delicious, with generous portions, and all the side dishes are also amazing! Some of the dishes I remember eating are sushi (tuna, red shrimp, eel, egg, salmon, fatty tuna, gourd, tekka maki, battera, shrimp mayo roll), water eggplant, deep-fried gyoza, salt-grilled collar, and red miso soup. All the sushi was delicious, but my favorites were the fatty tuna, egg, and eel. I will definitely come back for these next time! On this evening, we visited this restaurant recommended by MyRebi-san after being turned down by a certain sushi restaurant. It was our first visit with my wife and second son. We called ahead and they had a table ready for us. We started with some beer and fresh oysters. Not knowing what to expect, we ordered two assorted sushi plates, along with tamago, shrimp mayo, tempura, chawanmushi, and more. We ended up ordering a lot and ate until we were full. I made a reservation for the counter seats, which only have 4 seats available. If you prefer counter seats, a reservation is necessary. This was my second visit, following the one at the end of the year. The first time I went with my work friends, and this time with my husband. The restaurant is very popular locally, regardless of its rating on Tabelog, so it's best to visit after making a reservation. From the whiteboard with the "Today's Recommendation" written on it, we tried the sakura shrimp tempura, grilled salted salmon, and a sushi platter. The sushi platter was packed with delicious fish and had a high price tag. We also had the chef's choice of sushi until we were full, and finished with red miso soup and tamagoyaki & tekka maki for takeout. The sushi we took home ended up being my husband's breakfast the next morning, as our son didn't eat dinner that night. We didn't drink any alcohol, only hot tea from start to finish. The total bill for two people was a little over ¥13,000, but since the menu doesn't have prices listed, it's hard to know the cost of each item. Everything was delicious, thank you for the meal. Lastly, during this visit on the weekend, the restaurant was constantly busy with takeout orders, and walk-in customers without reservations were turned away due to the full house. I'm back again! Started with a sashimi platter with "toro" - always torn between grilled fish and simmered fish, but ended up with simmered this time, so I went for the amberjack collar grilled. I recently visited a sushi restaurant that had apparently relocated to my neighborhood. I had known about the restaurant before, but never had the chance to visit because it was not within walking distance. The new location was just a 10-minute walk away, so I decided to give it a try. It was a cozy sushi restaurant in a residential area, and the food had a nice flavor. I ordered a bottle of beer and was served fresh raw whitebait as a complimentary appetizer. I had always wanted to try raw whitebait, and it tasted delicious. I then ordered a chef's selection of sashimi, which was accompanied by a cold sake. The combination of sashimi and sake was perfect. I also ordered tempura, tekka maki, and other dishes, but I forgot to take photos. I highly recommend the clam miso soup, it was so tasty. Overall, it was a great dining experience, and I will definitely visit again soon.

Last night, I went to Shochan Sushi with my drinking buddy, T, who is a dentist, located right near Matsunohama Station on the Nankai Main Line. We had the chef's choice menu, which included: - Tokobushi simmered dish - Assorted sashimi with delicious sea bream and squid - Fatty bonito - Large oysters from Senpohji sandwiched with garlic - Tempura shrimp from Lake Shinji, which I tried for the first time and it was delicious - Collagen-rich simmered head of sea bream - Chef's selection of five pieces of sushi: squid, horse mackerel, pufferfish, clam, and eel - Miso soup with large clams from Lake Shinji. Every time I go, I look forward to what surprises they have in store. It's a sushi restaurant that never fails to entertain.

Tonight, I visited Shochan Sushi, located right next to Matsunohama Station on the Nankai Main Line, for the fifth time, including the old store. Normally, I order a la carte, but this is the only place where I leave it up to the chef. ● The appetizer is now a branded dish of simmered Izumi squid. ● Assorted sashimi includes Japanese flying squid, cuttlefish, Indian bluefin tuna, lean tuna, cuttlefish, and Thai ragi shellfish. ● Marinated blowfish with ponzu sauce, served with raw Chinese cabbage and chrysanthemum leaves. The ponzu sauce is not too strong, but it has a nice kick. Delicious. ● Boiled head of shrimp, crispy and fragrant. ● Soy sauce simmered Thai ragi shellfish tendons, with a good texture, perfect for drinking. ● Five pieces of chef's choice sushi: Izumi squid legs, large and delicious; cuttlefish, with sweetness, excellent; conger eel, as expected from Izumi's conger eel; bonito, high quality and excellent; torotaku (fatty tuna with pickled daikon radish), with a subtle daikon flavor and good balance. Well, I enjoyed the cuttlefish so much that I couldn't get enough of it. After beer and highball, I kept toasting with wheat shochu, and then had shochu highball with OAISO. At 9000 yen per person, eating plenty of cuttlefish, I was very satisfied with the price.

Rumors had been circulating about a sushi restaurant that the PTA chairperson recommended, mentioning that even Mairevi-san frequents the place. So, I thought I had to go check it out. Recently, feeling like having sushi, I went there with my family. We usually don't go to chain restaurants as a family. It's located where Miyakoya used to be before Shochan moved. Even on a weekday night, the place was packed with parties and locals. The reason became clear soon enough. They cut the sushi into smaller pieces for kids and serve it separately. The quality of the sushi was top-notch and fresh. The flounder was firm and delicious. Even the yellowtail, which we don't usually order, was fatty and tasty. I love the ark shell (market price) – so plump and juicy! And it wasn't watery, but full of flavor. A different dish was the squid mayo. It sounds funny but tastes great. Even the kids enjoyed it. While we usually don't let the kids eat raw fish at conveyor belt sushi restaurants, proper sushi places allow them to eat it. They had a few pieces that day and looked very satisfied. But the real highlight was the tamagoyaki. And finally, the battera. Osaka people love battera. At 380 yen per piece, it's a bit pricey, but the taste is excellent. The seasoning with kelp – basically sweet vinegar – is outstanding. It pairs perfectly with the sweetness and umami of the mackerel. It's simply fantastic. The total bill for our family of four was just over 1.2k. It's affordable, delicious, and friendly. There's no reason not to visit again!

I was curious about this sushi restaurant, and it turned out to be here ^^ I walked from Izumiotsu Station to Matsunohama Station to check out the old location (lol) ^^ I found a big sign saying they had moved ~ ^^ My excitement went up ~ ~ I had made a reservation and visited. The chef welcomed us to sit at the counter or a table, whichever we preferred. He was a friendly chef. I had a highball at the counter, while my wife had a sweet potato on the rocks. We started with scallops in vinegar miso as an appetizer. The boiled scallops were fresh and delicious. Then we had chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) and white shrimp tempura. The sashimi platter included tuna, yellowtail, flounder, octopus, and squid, all cut into large pieces. Everything was fresh and tasty, especially the squid! We also had mantis shrimp as a side dish, which was small but well-prepared. We enjoyed some local sake as well. My daughter ordered nigiri sushi, and my son ordered tuna, squid, and horse mackerel. We also had chawanmushi, white shrimp tempura, grilled conger eel, and other dishes, all seasoned perfectly. The chef recommended a dish called Kohada, which was delicious. My son ordered tuna rolls, red clam, and more. My daughter had ikura (salmon roe). We ended the meal with a dish called Shochan roll, which was fluffy and well-made. The tamago (egg) sushi was reminiscent of another restaurant we had been to. It turns out the chef had trained at the same place! We also tried simmered conger eel and sea urchin, both of which were excellent. With the chef's kind aura, we ended up staying for 3 hours without realizing it (lol). We will definitely visit again. Even in the new location, I hope they take care of their health and do their best without overworking themselves. It was delicious!!! The bill came out to around 23,000 yen.
