On April 28, 2023, I stayed at a newly opened hotel with a complex architectural design, consisting of a newly built east wing and a renovated west wing that used to be a public hall for pets at the former Hokkaido Electric Power Company. The entrance area features a front desk, but check-in is primarily done through automatic check-in machines. The adjacent shop mainly displays products from The North Face, with only a few hotel souvenirs available. The shop did not interest me much as I am not into The North Face products. The hotel is known for its unique chimney with a wood-burning smell, creating a relaxing atmosphere where guests can unwind and enjoy various books. The adjacent bar, which is a paid facility, also serves as a space for late-night snacks like ochazuke. The large windows offer a stunning view of the sky and the beautifully landscaped garden, creating a serene and soothing ambiance. A chapel-like building leads to a cafe space with coffee, cookies, and music, overlooking a spacious garden. The hotel rooms are divided into a 3-story west wing and a 4-story east wing, with the new east wing featuring designer rooms with outdoor baths overlooking Lake Toya. The room had a welcome pudding in the fridge, and the hotel's signature cookies were delicious. However, the shop was selling different cookies, which I found a bit disappointing. The dinner options included teppanyaki, Japanese cuisine, and a French restaurant, where I enjoyed a delightful French full course meal with perfectly paired wines. The breakfast was a choice between Japanese or Western style, served in a half-buffet style with a variety of high-quality dishes, including smoothie stations. The quality and variety of the food were excellent, and the service was impeccable. Overall, it was a luxurious hotel experience and I highly recommend it for a special getaway.

This is a new hot spring inn opened by the Tsuruga Group on the mountain side of Lake Toya! I thought it would be crowded because I heard it was fully booked, but maybe it's because the number of available rooms is small, the restaurant and hot spring were not crowded, and I could relax and unwind comfortably! The lounge and garden were also not crowded, so we could enjoy them privately, and the service from the staff was excellent. For dinner, there were Japanese kaiseki and French options, and this time we made a reservation for French cuisine. It was a full course meal with generous portions, and everything was delicious using plenty of Hokkaido ingredients. You can enjoy a leisurely meal while watching the sunset over Lake Toya from the restaurant, as dinner starts at 5:30 pm. The next morning, there was a half buffet breakfast. We were asked about our breakfast preferences during dinner the previous day. You can choose between Japanese or Western style. With Japanese style, you get a rice and salmon-based Japanese menu, and with Western style, you get croissants, toast, and sausages and bacon. In addition, there is a buffet corner where you can freely choose from Japanese and Western side dishes, salads, meat and fish, bread, cereals, cakes, and fruits. I ended up taking a lot of food from the buffet before the default menu arrived, so I recommend checking the amount of the default menu before taking food from the buffet. Coffee is served to your table. There was also a corner where you could choose smoothies and have them made fresh. The hot spring is not very large, but it is spacious enough with few people, so it was just the right size. The shower head was a Refa, which was nice. There was also a Finnish sauna! The outdoor bath is small, with a wall to prevent peeping from outside, so you can hardly see the view. There is also a gym before the hot spring that you can use freely. I wanted to use the esthetic service, but it was fully booked until late at night, so I gave up on using it. If you want to use it, it is recommended to make a reservation as soon as you arrive!

I visited this place during my trip to Hokkaido. It is currently the newest facility in the Tsuruga Resort. The atmosphere of the restaurant is outstanding, and the food was an amazing experience. The wine was delicious as well, and overall, I was very satisfied! I had a very luxurious time and felt happy. While it may be a common issue in the tourism industry, I felt that there is still room for improvement in staff training due to a shortage of manpower. The young female staff members were working hard, but I noticed some small details like their choice of words that bothered me. Maybe I am being too picky, but since this is not a cheap izakaya, I hope they provide a service that gives a sense of overall satisfaction and peace of mind. However, they were efficient in their work, so I am sure they will continue to do well in the future. I would like to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The dinner at the newly opened Hotel Koho in the Tsuruga Resort on Lake Toya is served at the French restaurant "Lumiere" within the hotel. Although there are also a Japanese restaurant "Shinzan" and a teppanyaki restaurant "Kagaribi", the teppanyaki restaurant is not open due to a shortage of chefs. I honestly didn't have high expectations for French cuisine at Tsuruga Hotel, which is more known for its buffet, but I was pleasantly surprised. The course menu features vegetables, fish, and meat all made with abundant Hokkaido ingredients, successfully converting the intention of enjoying Hokkaido through food into delicious dishes. When I looked up the chef's name on the menu, I found out that he won the BRONZE EGG at the 2018 RED U35 competition and has worked at the prestigious Flano Hotel. The deliciousness of the dishes is truly satisfying.
