Located in the corner of the bento sales area on the basement 1st floor of Takashimaya Shinjuku store is a shop called Yushima Sen. Apart from bento and chirashi sushi, their signature products such as sasamaki sushi and sasamusubi are displayed at the storefront. Before posting this review, I found out that the main store is located in Ikenohata, and they have outlets in six department stores in Tokyo. Among the many bento options for cherry blossom viewing available at nearby stores, I chose the "Four Seasons Bento - Spring Dance (6 Go)" from this store. The deciding factor was its attractive presentation and relatively reasonable price. There was also an 8-go version available, but it was more expensive, and I didn't want to waste any leftovers by taking it home. The contents were as follows: green tea rice (domestic), bamboo shoots, rapeseed blossoms, wheat gluten, foam snow, thick rolled omelette, grilled fish, paprika tempura, lotus root and minced chicken with spicy mustard, shrimp, grilled pork, burdock salad, broccoli, simmered daikon, baby carrot, rolled kombu, silk pods, princess takano, hijiki seaweed, and a small amount of pickled cherry blossoms. It was nice to be able to try a variety of dishes in small portions. I felt quite full afterwards. The simmered dishes and rice dishes were also delicious. I once made a mistake buying a high-end bento based on its name value, so it's important to be able to discern quality even from lesser-known places.
