At the Daimaru Umeda store, located on the basement floor, I found a lunch box for office workers today. I chose the three kinds of Nishikyo-yaki donburi. Let's dig in! The three kinds are "menoke," "gin hirasu," and "salmon trout." Both menoke and gin hirasu have a moderate amount of fat, which is just right. The rice is seasoned with ginger, giving it a refreshing taste. As for the salmon, it has a lot of fat and is quite rich. Well, that's my preference. Overall, it was delicious! The price is 648 yen, which is relatively cheap for a department store basement bento. However, the portion size is not very large, so I might get hungry by the evening, and I might start craving some sake.

I came to Daimaru Umeda Store. They have Hamo Tempura and Hamo Fry here, which caught my interest. While boiled fish is good too, this time I tried the Hamo Tempura for 162 yen including tax. It seemed smaller in size compared to the Hamo Fry, and I wish it was a bit cheaper. When you eat it, you can taste the refined flavor of the Hamo. I realized I hadn't had Hamo dishes this year. Bon appétit!

I chose the Donburi W Grand Prix Kujira and Atsu because it seemed quite rare and the Nishikyo-yaki also looked delicious. It was priced at 723 yen but with a 100 yen discount, it came to 623 yen ❤ The vegetables tasted like pickles. The egg was fluffy and soft. The whale meat had that nostalgic rich flavor?! The Nishikyo-yaki was cooked just right, not burnt, and was delicious. Other fish deli and bento boxes also looked tasty. It seems perfect for a light meal day~ The rice portion was a bit too much for me, but maybe just right for men?

Recently, I've been more into fish rather than meat. Maybe it's because of the heat. So, feeling like I wanted some fish, I wandered around the department store basement, but surprisingly there weren't many fish deli options. I finally found this place. It seems like a relatively new store in the basement of Daimaru Umeda, but they seem to have locations in Daimaru stores all over the country. On the day I visited, it was the famous summer festival in Osaka. To go along with that, they were selling some conger eel. I decided to try the conger eel in sweet vinegar sauce and the conger eel fry. Both were quite large and satisfying. They went well with beer. It was delicious. Ready-to-eat conger eel dishes like these are much tastier and more convenient for me as a single person living alone, compared to cooking from scratch. I can't cook conger eel myself, so these kinds of dishes are much appreciated. Fish deli, I'm all for it in the future. Thank you for the meal. Purchased items: Conger eel in sweet vinegar sauce 262 yen/each, Conger eel fry 189 yen/each.
