There is a shop located near Hakodate Airport, within a monastery, although it is about a 5-minute taxi ride away. The shop is located at the back of a small exhibition corner. They sell snacks and postcards, and you can pay with electronic money or credit cards, which is convenient. I bought Madeleines and white chocolate.

I used to come to Trappistines Monastery many times in the past. I remember the cookies and madeleines were delicious! I was expecting a larger store, but it turned out to be a cozy shop inside the monastery. The cookies and madeleines had a gentle sweetness and were very tasty. The prices were also very reasonable. These items are not sold in souvenir shops, so you have to buy them here.

I bought some snacks to send to my parents' house, and also got a little for our home as well. There were some snacks from other monasteries for sale too, like from Oita Prefecture. Last time, I was amazed by how delicious the simple butter cookies were. I wonder if they changed a bit this time? Something seems a little different from last time... Hmmm, the flavor seems a bit distant now. I wonder what others think? Thank you for the meal.

I heard about it and the handmade cookies sold here are incredibly delicious. Maybe it's because the nuns put their pure hearts into making them. The energy is so high, it just makes you feel so warm and fuzzy. The cookies and butter candies sold at airports, supermarkets, and local product exhibitions are delicious too, but these ones are on a different level. Located about a 5-minute drive from Hakodate Airport. Please stop by if you can. You could even walk there if you wanted to (lol) although not many people do that (lol).

The clear autumn sky and crisp air in Hokkaido are so refreshing! I visited the "Trappistine Convent of Our Lady of the Angels" which is the first female convent in Japan founded by 8 French nuns in 1898. The beautiful brick building on the hill exudes a serene atmosphere. When I think of the Trappistine Convent, I remember the butter candies and rectangular cookies they make. I tried a round cookie I had never seen before and it was delicious. The receipt had a message wishing for happiness. Thank you!

I bought some Madalenas, cookies, and coconut cookies for home use, as well as a boxed Madalena for sending as a gift. The packaging for home use was simple, but sufficient. I had some doubts about the taste, but when I tried them with a capybara later... Wow, they were incredibly delicious! I wonder if it's because of the quality of the ingredients, the careful preparation, or maybe the prayers of the nuns who made them? Whatever the reason, we were both so impressed by how tasty these sweets were. It was a delightful surprise. Thank you for the delicious treats! Can't wait to go back!

I have always wanted to visit the Trappistine convent. You can enter the grounds but not the buildings. There are beautifully pruned plants and statues of Mary and Michael that you can see. There is also a Lourdes spring on the premises. There is a shop selling handmade products, cookies, and butter candy made by the nuns. As a thank you for the visit, I received some butter candy for myself and as a souvenir. The nostalgic taste of the butter candy is a delightful treat when feeling tired. It has a gentle and comforting flavor that conveys the care put into making it. I highly recommend visiting this place when in Hakodate.

I purchased three items: Madeleine (3 pieces for 480 yen tax included), Plain Cookies (5 pieces for 380 yen tax included), and Coconut Cookies (10 pieces for 750 yen tax included). The Madeleine cake was slightly dry but had a gentle sweetness. The Plain Cookies were crispy and light, while the Coconut Cookies were crunchy, fragrant, and delicious.

I went to the Trappistines Monastery. I was looking for the cookies sold at the monastery's shop. Although I later saw them at various souvenir shops, the monastery's freely accessible area has a nice atmosphere and is worth visiting just to see. After touring the monastery, I visited the shop. They sell handmade rosaries, necklaces, bracelets, and keychains made by the nuns, but the highlight is the handmade sweets. Madeleines, white chocolate, cookies - the most popular being the plain cookies. I bought some as souvenirs for my family and for myself. The plain cookies are not too hard or too soft, with a rich buttery aroma when you take a bite. They are not too sweet and you could eat as many as you want. As a souvenir, they are more than delicious enough. Thank you for the meal.

On the second day in Hakodate, I energetically took the Hakodate bus to the Trappistine Monastery and felt refreshed in the morning. I bought old-fashioned Western sweets Madalana, Sister's homemade cookies, and white chocolate at the shop. The cookies are rich in butter and delicious. I look forward to enjoying the remaining Madalana and white chocolate.

This is a classic souvenir from Hokkaido that has been popular for a long time. Even though I'm not from Hokkaido, the taste makes me feel nostalgic. The Trappist monastery is located in Hokuto City. Lately, you can also purchase it at Seijo Ishii. Eating this every day will just keep raising my blood sugar levels. Amen! Amen, somen, cold somen! I graduated from a Catholic kindergarten.

I visited the Trappistine Monastery in Hakodate and bought Akafusasuguri jam and Madalena. I used to pick and eat Sugiri when I was little. It has a nice acidity. Madalena is a French pastry, like a madeleine. All of them are handmade by the nuns. It's delicious to eat Madalena with Akafusasuguri jam.

November 2021 Photo [Access] About 30 minutes from the bus terminal in front of Hakodate Station. At the nearby information center, ask for the best route and bus number depending on the time of day. It may take about an hour in some cases. The Trappist Monastery is for men and is quite far and difficult to reach without a train or car. The Trappistine Monastery is for women and can be reached by bus. The Trappistine Monastery. It is a tranquil and sacred place that creates a quiet environment because it is a little away from the city center, and you have to walk a slight uphill after getting off the bus (which is not a big deal). The handmade madeleine by the sisters (nuns) there is delicious! Nowadays, only the sisters can make madeleines without additives or unnecessary ingredients! Thanks to the minimal ingredients, it has a simple texture and sweetness. The madeleine has a nostalgic and gentle taste. This is a limited item at the shop there. I've never seen it at the airport or the shops at Hakodate Station. [One tip recipe] (Refer to the website) It's delicious as it is, but if you warm it up in the microwave for about 10 seconds per piece, it will become soft and you can enjoy the freshly baked texture. However, of course, I couldn't wait and opened the bag right away on the bench. Wow! There is no artificial strong sweetness, just natural sweetness. The taste of the ingredients like eggs, flour, and butter spreads gently. While eating, I look at the place where the sisters live. When I get home, I will enjoy it again with memories of the trip. The plump belly button. This is a traditional madeleine. One for 150 yen. Four for 600 yen. I will enjoy it with respect. By the way, the cookies in front of me are also handmade by the sisters. I also bought some raspberry jam at the shop. The raspberries are also grown by the sisters in the garden on the premises. Yum! The madeleine that can only be obtained here. It's not easy to get here. I'm glad I made the effort to come! If you happen to find it for sale on a website like mail order, you're lucky. The atmosphere is very nice, so I would love to visit again.

I took a bus from Hakodate Station. The bus stop is called Trapistinu Entrance, and you have to walk up a hill and walk for less than 10 minutes. For those with weak legs or lack of confidence, a taxi might be a good option. After touring the premises, I bought Madeleines and cookies at the shop and headed back. The Madeleines had a simple taste, and the cookies were crispy and delicious.

On the second day of my trip to Hakodate, I took a bus to the Trappistine Monastery for the final day of my journey. My mother loves the Trappist Monastery's waffle cookies, so I decided to visit the nearby Trappistine Monastery. The building had a solemn and beautiful atmosphere, making it a great place to visit. I walked up the hill as a form of exercise and treated myself to some soft serve ice cream. It had an elegant flavor and was delicious! I usually share with my companions, but sometimes it's nice to enjoy it all by myself. Thank you for the meal!

I stayed in Hakodate on a driving trip in Hokkaido. Last night, I enjoyed the night view from Mount Hakodate, and today we are driving back to Sapporo. Before leaving Hakodate, there was a place I wanted to visit first. That place was the Trappistine Monastery. Hakodate has many churches and monasteries that have become tourist attractions. Among them, the most famous are the Trappist Monastery and the Trappistine Monastery. This time, I visited the Trappistine Monastery. Just a note, the Trappist Monastery is for monks, while the Trappistine Monastery is for nuns. I parked at a nearby parking lot and walked to the monastery. In the center of the monastery, there is a statue of the Virgin Mary welcoming visitors with a gentle and compassionate face. As I walked further, I saw a sign that said, "Please be quiet from here on." It is important to be respectful and quiet as the nuns are practicing inside the monastery. I enjoyed taking photos quietly. On the way back, I bought souvenirs at the monastery's shop. I brought my camera, so I asked if it was okay to take photos. It was totally fine. The highlight of the shop is the cookies handmade by the sisters at the monastery, known as "Angel Cookies." They come in a cute package with angel prints and have a shelf life of about 3 months, making them a great souvenir. I bought some for my mom and myself. When I tried them, they were soft, sweet, and incredibly delicious! I don't usually eat cookies, but these were really tasty. Truly handmade! Truly by the sisters! I also bought the other specialty, "Madalena." They come in small packets or a box full of them. Both were delicious. The shop also sells rosaries, necklaces, bracelets, keychains, and more, all handmade by the sisters and all beautiful and charming. After visiting the Trappistine Monastery, be sure to buy some Angel Cookies at the shop. They make a great snack.

This is a shop located inside the Trappist monastery. I visited after a long time, and the lineup remains basically the same - white chocolate, cookies, cakes, etc. I bought a Madalena cake, which is similar to madeleines, at a cheap price. It's not very moist.

Trappist, Trappistines. When I hear these two names, I can't help but imagine the majestic far northern lands with a kind of romanticism. Serving God, overcoming oneself, living by faith. I had imagined it with a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of the novels I read as a child. Finally, I fulfilled my long-awaited visit to the Trappistines. I knew that internal tours were not allowed, but due to the impact of the coronavirus, the shop and other facilities were also reduced. On this occasion, they only offered various sweets along with goods made by the sisters, such as stationery and small items inspired by the church. I didn't come across the soft serve ice cream that I had seen online. On this day, I tried the following: - Madeleine for 450 yen - Small cookie for 350 yen - Small coconut for 400 yen The cookies can be bought in large bags in Hakodate city, but the mini sizes are only available here so far. The Madeleine was a type of baked good similar to a Madeline with a strong milk flavor, surprisingly moist and memorable. All of them are simple, rustic sweets that focus on the ingredients. They are different from trendy sweets nowadays, but I personally prefer this type of sweets, so I really enjoyed them. The small sizes are perfect for souvenirs.

▼Overall
I regret only buying one bag. They also sell them at Hakodate Airport, so I definitely want to buy some before passing through Hakodate!
▼Possibility of revisiting
It's a silly question. I will definitely go when I visit Hakodate.
▼Reason for choosing this shop
Just felt like it during my Hakodate sightseeing.
▼Location
About 20 minutes by car from Hakodate Airport.
▼What I ate
Plain cookies (780 yen)
▼Taste
These cookies remind me of the super popular Jenny Bakery in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, you have to endure long lines to finally buy them, but here, there is almost no waiting time.
The ingredients are simple, with only flour, butter, and sugar. The cookies have a crispy and light texture, and the simple yet overwhelmingly delicious flavors of the ingredients spread throughout your mouth.
Recently, they have been selling them at Hakodate Airport as well. If you see them, you must try these top-notch sweets.

September 2020. On the third day of my trip to Hakodate, it's all about driving. First stop, Trappistine Monastery. I don't know much about the religious background, but it's a really nice place. I happened to catch the bells ringing, which was quite moving. After seeing everything, I went to the gift shop. I bought their madeleines as souvenirs, which are said to be delicious. In France, are they called madeleines? The explanation said, "A confection started by a nun who came from France..." Is it a Japanese creation? Anyway, I bought these and some cookies. I planned to give them to my friends, but couldn't find one of them, so I ended up eating them myself. I thought the cookies would be hard, but they were surprisingly light and delicious. The madeleines are simple yet tasty. Both are additive-free. Well, they make your mouth dry instantly, but I'm sure they would go well with tea. I found out you can buy them online, which slightly dampened my excitement, but my friends were happy to receive them. Thank you for the meal.
