I visited this shop while sightseeing at the ancient tomb. They had sweets inspired by the tomb and also sold souvenirs related to it. There was some confusion with orders getting mixed up with other tables, but I managed to receive what I ordered. The food was delicious and cute!

I had tea at Co.Fun cafe for the first time in a while. They serve lunch as well, but I visited for dessert time. The cafe is located near Mikunigaoka Station and has parking available. I ordered the Matcha Treasure Box cake set for my partner, which has a cake with a tomb-like shape inside. The matcha chocolate was all in shades of matcha green. I ordered the Rikyu Anmitsu set with matcha on the side for myself. The anmitsu had just the right amount of sweetness, and the bitterness of the matcha was a nice touch. After enjoying our desserts, we left the cafe with a hope that it becomes a representative shop in Sakai. Thank you for the meal!

I make walking a daily habit! The main course is the Emperor Nintoku's Mausoleum! There is a cafe called "Co.FUN Cafe" on that course! I have been curious about it for a long time, but I haven't been able to go until today! Today, my wife and I decided to go together! This place also serves lunch, but we came for sweets and coffee! I ordered the Co.FUN Ice Set and my wife ordered the Rikyu Anmitsu Set! Coffee is included. The shop has photos and paintings of ancient tombs, creating a nice atmosphere! I have a sweet tooth, but my wife has an even sweeter tooth! My wife's anmitsu arrived! She, who is usually not very friendly, is smiling while eating... It must be delicious, right? My Co.FUN Ice Set arrived! I tried the shiratama! Hmm... it doesn't have much flavor? I tried eating the shiratama with the anko! Delicious! I tried the ice cream! Delicious! The matcha sauce is tasty! The coffee is a bit bitter! Before I knew it, I was also smiling!! Because it's delicious! I had a happy day finding a delicious restaurant! Thank you for the meal!!!

On my day off, I made a reservation and went to have lunch. The restaurant has parking space for two cars. Since we had our beloved dog with us, we chose to sit on the terrace. The restaurant is located near the Emperor Nintoku's tomb, and there are various tomb-related goods for sale near the entrance. Even the tableware is shaped like tombs, which was quite interesting. For the lunch set, you can choose between coffee or matcha for your drink. I don't usually drink matcha, so I decided to try it. I had the "Sesame Sauce Bowl with Sea Bream" for my meal. They told me to eat it as it is at first, and then add the broth to make it like ochazuke. It was similar to hitsumabushi. The portions for the dishes seemed a bit small overall. The cakes displayed in the showcase looked delicious, so I couldn't resist ordering a matcha tart to enjoy with my matcha. The tart was also very tasty.

Co.FUN Cafe. A cafe near ancient tombs? I was curious about it, so I checked on Tabelog and found out they have a limited edition Co.FUN shaved ice, limited to 10 servings per day. They have irregular hours, but you can make a reservation by phone. So, I called them first. The staff was bright and cheerful, which was nice. It took me about 40 minutes by train from my home to get there. There was a little mishap where I took the wrong exit at the nearest Mikuni-ga-oka station, but I eventually arrived. They recognized me from the phone call and showed me to a table. They seemed very busy, so they asked for a little more time. I looked at the ancient tomb goods and "Mahou no Jikan" tart near the entrance while waiting. When I returned to my seat, the Co.FUN shaved ice arrived promptly. Just as I saw on Tabelog, it was served in a container shaped like a keyhole-shaped tomb with a shovel spoon and plenty of matcha foam. It really got me excited. The matcha foam had a strong tea flavor but was not too sweet. I poured the condensed milk that came with it over the top. I also bought a "Mahou no Jikan" tart to take home on my way out. I also picked up some accessories from the ancient tomb goods. I originally planned to eat the tart at home, but I ended up giving it as a gift to my sons whom I happened to meet. It was not just about the food, but also the fun goods they offer. Since I didn't get to try the tart this time, I would like to go back again soon.

I stopped by on my way back from visiting the ancient tomb. It's located right near the Mikunigaoka Station. The restaurant has a cozy and homey atmosphere with a cafeteria vibe. They sell ancient tomb goods near the entrance. I was intrigued by the shaved ice. It's already cold outside, but I still wanted to try it! Sakai is the hometown of Sen no Rikyu, and this area is known for its matcha. There are many menu items that use matcha. I ordered the Ancient Tomb Shaved Ice for 1000 yen, the Rich Matcha Mont Blanc Shaved Ice for 1500 yen, and the Matcha of the Day for 500 yen for cold weather protection. After a short wait, the shaved ice arrived - the bowl looks like an ancient tomb, and the spoon is like a shovel. They also gave a smaller bowl for sharing. The Ancient Tomb Shaved Ice is made with high-quality matcha and topped with foam. It has a sweet milky flavor, and even though the ice itself is plain, it tastes great with the condensed milk provided. I also enjoyed the red bean paste and rice cake on the side. The Mont Blanc Shaved Ice is topped with matcha syrup and chestnut foam. It's also sweet and milky, with a hint of chestnut flavor. The red bean paste and rice cake with chestnut paste complement each other well. Both shaved ice desserts had a fluffy texture and were easy to finish. Just as I finished the shaved ice, they brought me a cup of matcha. Ah, the matcha is delicious... With a piece of traditional Japanese confectionery included. It was a heartwarming experience. I think I've become a fan of ancient tombs. Thank you for the meal.

Osaka is the birthplace of Emperor Nintoku's tomb in Sakai. The nearest station is Mikunigaoka. The shop's name suggests that something related to ancient tombs will be featured. The shop has a cute appearance, decorated with flowers resembling a tomb. Inside, there is a large screen playing beautiful and soothing videos with music. The menu is served on tomb-shaped plates, which are adorable and offer a variety of delicious items. The shop also sells various goods, including collaboration items with Demon Slayer. The decor and items are cute and appealing. I tried the tomb-shaped shaved ice, which came with a shovel-shaped spoon. The matcha foam was not too sweet, and when topped with condensed milk, it was a perfect combination with red bean paste and mochi. It felt like excavating a tomb with each bite.

Recently, I have been unable to drink beer due to the difficult situation...・ヾ( ๑´д`๑)ツ I have been using this place for gatherings with my classmates a lot lately... Today, I forgot about the meeting and received a message to come quickly! I rushed over on my bike and smoothly joined the table in the back of the familiar restaurant!! I set up my own fan and carefully looked at the menu (laughs). A friend who arrived earlier told me that they had ordered a mixed juice shaved ice. Hmm!? (๑•̑з•̑๑)੭⁾⁾ I also felt like having shaved ice!! Following the first recommendation, I decided to go with the matcha milk shaved ice with white balls and red bean paste... I asked the waitress for the CO.FUN shaved ice (product name?) and got involved in the discussion (´・ω・)シ After about 10 minutes, the shaved ice arrived-☆ It was quite a lot! The ice covered in matcha foam had a good volume, and it was served in a tomb-shaped circular container with white balls and red bean paste on the side... I didn't hesitate to dig in−☆ From the fluffy feeling to the bitter taste of matcha, the sweetness of condensed milk added a great touch! The texture and melting sensation of the shaved ice were just what I was looking for! I love shaved ice. Next, I tried the white balls and they were so soft and chewy, with a nice texture! I mixed in the red bean paste while enjoying the shaved ice. The combination of matcha milk and red bean paste was perfect, and it was a great way to cool down in the summer! Having sweets for lunch and even enjoying some drinks, this cafe "Co.FUN Cafe" is a great place to visit♪ MASA☆彡RU highly recommends it!✺◟❛ั∗✺

"I couldn't help but think, 'Forget flowers, how about matcha from ancient tombs?' as I tried a matcha-based menu at this café in Sakai City on this day. Located near the famous Emperor Nintoku's tomb, one of the world's three largest tombs, I initially thought this café would focus on tomb-inspired dishes and presentations based on its name. However, it turned out to be a Japanese tea specialty shop with a variety of matcha-based menu items, possibly due to Sakai being the hometown of Sen no Rikyu, the tea master. During my first visit, I ordered their signature dish, the 'Rikyu tea soba set,' served in a tomb-shaped dish, and the 'Co.FUN shaved ice.' The tea soba came with a non-sweet matcha sauce that could be added to the soba broth according to preference. The unique sauce enhanced the matcha flavor, making it stand out from other tea soba dishes I've had before. Next, the shaved ice dessert made with high-quality matcha foam, priced at around ¥1,000 per 100g. This was my first time trying shaved ice with matcha foam, and I found the taste to be less sweet than the typical Uji Kintoki, allowing the true matcha flavor to shine through. Both the tea soba and matcha shaved ice had a slightly bitter yet deep flavor, making them more suitable for adults than for young children. The café also offers other matcha-based items and some unique, high-end dishes. While Sakai City has the popular Japanese tea shop 'Tsuboichi Seicha Honpo,' I personally think 'Co.FUN Café' might be a hidden gem worth visiting. Whether you're a fan of ancient tombs or a matcha enthusiast, if you find yourself near Emperor Nintoku's tomb or Sangukaigaoka Station, why not stop by?"

There is a tomb that is perfect for Instagram at the entrance, even the containers are pottery in the shape of a tomb. I wanted to order Mont Blanc ice, but it was sold out, so I ordered Rikyu Tiramisu ice and Rikyu sweet sake ice. The Tiramisu ice had a fluffy mascarpone foam with a cheese flavor and matcha powder on top, with matcha ice inside. The sweet sake ice had sweet sake foam with kinako powder on top. Both came with red bean paste and shiratama with condensed milk on the side. The foam was fluffy, but the sweet sake flavor was not very strong, more like whipped cream. Both had matcha ice inside, but it was not very sweet, almost like they forgot the syrup. When I added the condensed milk, it became delicious. The presentation was cute and the tomb souvenirs were interesting and cute too. As a native of Sakai, I hope they improve because there is potential.

Located along Route 310, this café is right near Mikuni-ga-Oka Station. I always passed by in my car and was curious about it, but I didn't realize that the back of the shop is actually the tomb of Emperor Nintoku. The café has a terrace where you can enjoy matcha, creating a relaxing atmosphere. Inside, there are more seats than I expected, including traditional tatami seating. While they also offer food menus, my main purpose today was to try their shaved ice! I wanted to try the Co.FUN shaved ice with espuma that this place is known for. There were about six types of shaved ice to choose from, all looking delicious, but I went with the Co.FUN. The shaved ice served in a tomb-shaped dish was quite large, topped with matcha cream espuma. They use high-quality matcha that costs 10,000 yen per kilogram for this dessert. The sweetness was subtle, allowing the rich and slightly bitter matcha flavor to shine through. They also provide condensed milk on the side, which complemented the shaved ice well. With mochi balls and sweet red bean paste, I enjoyed every bite until the end. My companion had the roll cake set, with a cute tomb-shaped design in the cream. The cake was fluffy and had a strong matcha flavor, making it delicious.

I visited at 10:15 in the morning. I ordered from the lunch menu. There were no customers before me and one person arrived after me with two others. I tried the specialty tea soba set, which was served warm with a strong tea flavor. It had Uji matcha in it, a tea that a five-star chef from Paris loves. I also had a cake set with matcha and a roll cake. I used a JAF coupon which gave me ¥200 off for the specialty tea soba and a drink. Thank you!

The test preparation at the cram school was from morning till noon. When asked what I wanted for lunch, I said I wanted soba noodles. I searched on Tabelog and found a place in Sakai City that serves soba noodles. This place used to be a slow cafe or a bakery that also had a cafe where bread making classes were occasionally held. It has now been transformed into a ancient tomb cafe. The soba noodles my son wanted came served in a dish shaped like an ancient tomb. Even though the soba noodles were delicious on their own with a nice texture, they also came with green tea for a change in flavor. There was also a pickled plum provided for another flavor variation. We also ordered a cute ancient tomb roll as a dessert. Even my son, who doesn't like matcha, enjoyed it. As summer was coming to an end, we decided to order a Mont Blanc shaved ice for our final treat. It was a fluffy Mont Blanc shaved ice with whipped cream on top. The condensed milk added a nice touch and kept the flavor interesting until the end. It was delicious.

It seemed to be open for business at 10:00, but I arrived at 10:25 to have shaved ice. The café is located near the walking path of the World Heritage Site Emperor Nintoku's Mausoleum. On my way back from the café, I took a leisurely stroll around the walking path, which is apparently 2.8km long. There was one customer before me and no customers after me. I paid with cash only for one serving of Co.FUN shaved ice (called "Kofun Ice") with a generous amount of rich matcha espuma on top, along with three pieces of mochi and a little bit of red bean paste. The shaved ice had a design inspired by ancient burial mounds and was served with condensed milk.

This is a shop located across from Sangenya Station, across Route 310. It seems that the back of the shop is near the tomb of Emperor Nintoku. There is a parking lot in front of the store. Inside, there is a variety of ancient tomb goods sold in the miscellaneous goods corner. There are five tables, two counter seats, and a raised tatami area at the back where about four people can sit. The lunch menu consists of four daily specials. On this day, there were simmered hamburger, keema curry with shrimp fry & croquette, and taco rice. In addition, there is a regular menu item served in a dish shaped like an ancient tomb, which is soba noodles. I decided to try this. You can choose whether you want the soba noodles to be served hot or cold. It comes with a rich tea, which you are supposed to dip the soba noodles in before eating. First, I tried just the dashi broth... it was a normal bonito broth. When I ate the soba noodles alone, I could faintly smell the matcha flavor. But when I mixed it with the rich tea, it didn't change dramatically. Maybe the faint matcha flavor came back a bit. The seaweed, thinly sliced egg, and pickled plum that came with it allowed for a nice change in taste, and I was able to enjoy it without getting tired of it. Thank you for the meal.

I'm not that hungry even though it's lunchtime. I happened to pass by CO.FUN café, and I thought I could have some sweets here. The symbol mark of this café is a keyhole-shaped tomb, which makes sense because right next to the café is the tomb of Emperor Nintoku. The name CO.FUN comes from combining "COMMON" meaning "together" and "FUN" meaning "enjoyable", creating "CO.FUN" or "kofun" (ancient tomb). The menu includes a variety of items, and I decided to try the famous tea soba set for 800 yen. The tea soba is made with matcha from Yamagata Prefecture, giving it a unique flavor. The dish also comes with salad, pickles, and toppings like plum, fried fish cake, wakame seaweed, and bonito flakes. The tea soba has a subtle matcha aroma when eaten alone, but when dipped in the broth and added with matcha sauce, the flavor becomes more pronounced and pleasant. Although I wanted to try the roll cake set, I enjoyed the tea soba set. It was delicious.

Recently, I visited a restaurant that I had been wanting to go to. I rented a bicycle at Sakaihigashi Station, but unexpectedly there was no electric assist! The weather was hot, with the highest temperature in May. It was a clear day. I arrived all sweaty from riding the bike. It was a Saturday at 11:50 am, right next to Emperor Nintoku's tomb. The restaurant is a small house along the road. I wanted to try their famous shaved ice, but ended up going for lunch. I was able to get a seat easily, but it was a small space with reserved tables in the back. It seems like you can make reservations too. Despite being crowded with young people, it didn't seem to be that popular yet. There were also raised tatami seating tables. The lunch menu had two options: stewed hamburger or chicken with sweet and sour sauce, both served with a drink for 800 yen. I ordered the stewed hamburger. The taste was good, but the portion was small, more suitable for women with small appetites. The rice served in the shape of a tumulus was cute. There were many cute items related to Sakai at the entrance, which was heartwarming. Three girls at a reserved table ordered shaved ice, but they were served one by one with a significant time gap between them. By the time the third shaved ice arrived, the first girl had almost finished hers, which was quite puzzling. I added a dessert for an additional 300 yen. I could choose between matcha roll cake or Earl Grey chiffon cake. I chose the Earl Grey chiffon cake. It had a lovely Earl Grey aroma and a gentle, not too sweet cream. It was delicious.

A new café seems to have opened, so I decided to have a solo lunch there. A beautiful mom is managing the place all by herself and seems busy with a full house of customers. The daily lunch specials had two options: hamburger or chicken with sweet and sour sauce. I chose the chicken, and they prepared it efficiently after taking my order. The meal came on one plate with the main dish, salad, and rice. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the rice was shaped like a kofun (ancient burial mound), which was a nice touch. It was just the right amount for me, as I try to reduce my carb intake. The meal also included coffee for after, which was a nice way to relax and unwind. Thank you for the delicious meal!

On the way back from the eye clinic, I remembered that there was a cafe called "Co,FUN Cafe" nearby. I parked my car and entered the shop, which was almost full. There were a few foreigners, maybe because the Emperor Nintoku's Mausoleum, one of the Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group, is nearby. After 15 minutes, most people had finished their meals and the atmosphere in the restaurant became more relaxed. The daily lunch special that day was a plate with ginger chicken. It cost ¥800 and came with a drink. Unfortunately, the curry pilaf, which I wanted, was sold out. I chose the ginger chicken lunch instead. The curry pilaf at the table behind me looked really delicious... I felt a bit regretful. When my lunch arrived, it was a one-plate meal with a good amount of rice, suitable for women. The ginger chicken was tender, with ginger sauce in the middle to dip it in. The salad was also nice and the mashed potatoes and pickled carrots were tasty. The miso soup was well-made and tasted homemade. Overall, the meal was satisfying. I wanted to have coffee for the drink after the meal, but it was hot that day so I chose grapefruit juice instead. The cafe serves morning menu from 8:30 am, lunch with sweets, and turns into a sake bar at night. I was intrigued by the "Rikyu Hot Pot" menu. It was a comforting lunch. Thank you for the meal ♥

We are heading to an event at Osen Park, which is in front of the largest keyhole-shaped tomb in Japan, aiming for World Cultural Heritage registration, the Emperor Nintoku's Mausoleum. Before that, we will have lunch at this nearby cafe. This cafe is a standalone house with a parking lot. The interior is bright with natural light and has a clean, cozy feel. They sell homemade sweets and figurines related to the tomb. They open at 8:30 AM and offer morning sets. This time, my friend and I had: - Daily Lunch Special (with coffee) for 800 yen: Thick pork ginger stir-fry with a generous salad and side dish on one plate. - Shrimp Pilaf (with miso soup and salad) for 700 yen: Large shrimp and a hearty portion of rice with a side of pickles, presented in a nostalgic Showa-era style. They have a variety of sake options and also serve as an izakaya at night. I'd like to visit at night next time. The food was delicious. Thank you for the meal!
