Arrived in Kansai for the Osaka meeting of the 550spider & 356speedstar. Had lunch at KKR Osaka, the meeting point. Enjoyed a blissful lunchtime overlooking Osaka Castle from the 12th floor restaurant "Juraku-an", thanks to the organizer securing a private room. Ordered the "Funeba-jiru" set meal (supervised by Tanita) for 1,700 yen. Funeba-jiru, also known as Funaba-ni, is a dish born in the wholesale district of Osaka called Funaba, made by simmering fish like salted mackerel with vegetables like daikon radish. A collaboration dish between Tanita and KKR Hotel Osaka. The flavor is quite rich for Osaka standards. The soup was delicious!!! Today's route included Osaka Castle, Nakanoshima Public Hall, Tsutenkaku, and Sumiyoshi Taisha, totaling 22km.

On a day off, I aimed to enter the restaurant just before the last order (when I predicted there would be few people). As expected, I was seated at a window seat with a very nice view. The steak set meal (2,700 yen: tax and service charge included) had tender and satisfying meat. The chawanmushi with tsukune and other ingredients had a rich dashi flavor and was delicious. The Matsukado bento (2,200 yen: tax and service charge included) had a lot of side dishes, which made me happy. It included grilled salmon, three types of sashimi, and about 10 other items. It also came with pickles and miso soup. Everything was satisfying. The fact that the food was delicious was a great base for the dining experience, but the unobstructed view of Osaka Castle Park right in front of me may have been the best spice of all. Since it is a hotel, it can also be used for a little hospitality, and there are reasonably priced menu options, making it perfect for treating yourself on the weekend. I will definitely visit again!

Today, I had lunch at KKR Hotel Osaka. I had the "Black Curry Rice" at the "Restaurant Chateau" on the 12th floor of KKR Hotel Osaka. The curry arrived in a gravy boat. It came with salad and a mini dessert. Leaving aside the taste of the curry, the view from the 12th floor of KKR Hotel Osaka was amazing. By the way, the photo of Osaka Castle was taken from the 5th floor. Since it's a hotel restaurant, the service was impeccable. As for the Black Curry Rice, it was like curry roux with added beef. It was simply delicious! Even though it was a weekday, the seats were almost full. Reservation is recommended.

I returned from Yamagata on a daytime flight and went straight to Morinomiya for a industry gathering at KKR Hotel Osaka. I indulged in some drinks as the event was expected to be fun. The Japanese beef fillet grilled on a net was delicious, but the highlight was the fantastic night view of Osaka Castle from the 12th floor. This place is definitely worth remembering!

The lunch at the hotel costs over 2,500 yen, which is understandable, but the taste... not worth it. The view is great though.

This is a restaurant on the 12th floor of KKR Hotel with a great view. You can overlook Osaka Castle's main tower and it feels refreshing. There are window seats with great views, but even the tables in the middle of the floor are slightly elevated from the windows, so the view is beautiful from any table. The atmosphere is calm with mostly elderly customers. I visited for a celebratory lunch for my mother's birthday. I checked the menu on the website and was surprised by the reasonable prices for a hotel lunch. I was a bit skeptical because it's an older hotel, but every dish was delicious. You can have unlimited refills of bread, which comes in a basket and you can eat a lot. The meat, fish, and dessert were all included, making it a very good value lunch. I saw elderly customers in wheelchairs enjoying their meals, so I thought I would bring my grandmother next time.

I purchased some dried sansho pepper at the hotel. It was 90g for 1000 yen. It's a popular item here, even advertised on the bus to the hotel. When I opened it, there were young leaves of the sansho pepper tree on top. This dried sansho pepper includes sesame seeds, giving it a fragrant and slightly sweet taste that goes well with rice. However, it may be a bit strong in flavor for some people. I personally prefer it to be a bit milder. The dried sansho pepper was soft, the sansho pepper itself was fresh and had a great aroma, and it was delicious.

Today, I had lunch while enjoying the autumn leaves. I made a reservation and although I couldn't get a window seat because it was already full, I still had a great view of Osaka Castle and the autumn leaves from the side. I ordered the seasonal recommended set meal for lunch. It was delicious, but there wasn't one dish that stood out as the most delicious. The view was beautiful, so I think it was worth it. Thank you for the meal.

Morning Buffet at Restaurant Chateau @ Morinomiya 09/09/2016 (Fri) Continuing from yesterday, breakfast at Restaurant Chateau on the 12th floor of KKR Hotel Osaka. When I returned to the hotel last night, there was a crowd of people in the lobby all wearing the same polo shirts, around 30 of them. I asked the front desk and found out they were from Thailand. To avoid the crowd, I went up to the 12th floor before the buffet opened and there were already a few more Thai guests waiting. As soon as it opened, I got my occupied card, placed it on my table, and headed to the buffet corner. Today, the view of the castle was right in front of me. I skipped the salad and went straight for yogurt and coffee, finishing up quickly before it got too crowded. Thank you for the meal! Last visit can be found here. --------------------------------------- September 2016 Visit Breakfast at Restaurant Chateau on the 12th floor of KKR Hotel Osaka. I placed my card on a seat with a view of Osaka Castle and went to choose my meal. The morning weather forecast mentioned heavy rain warnings for Osaka due to a temperate cyclone, but there was no rain and the view of Osaka Castle was clear. I opted for lots of vegetables and protein, and less carbohydrates, but couldn't resist having two servings of takoyaki. Finished off with yogurt and coffee, with three different sauces for the yogurt. Thank you for the meal!

During the cherry blossom season this year, my spouse and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by having a dinner at the restaurant in KKR Hotel Osaka, located south of Osaka Castle. We couldn't reserve our usual spot due to renovation, so we decided to try something new this time. We arrived in the evening and were able to enjoy the full bloom of cherry blossoms at Osaka Castle Park. We opted for the banquet course, starting with the appetizer "Yose Umi Un Kukumo Umami Dashi," followed by the soup substitute "Yuzu-scented Chawanmushi," the side dish "Assorted seasonal fresh fish," the grilled dish "Miso-marinated grilled saury with white sesame sauce," the simmered dish "Sakura manju turtle shell sauce," the fried dish "Various seasonal tempura shrimp," the rice dish "Seasonal rice with red miso soup and pickles," the dessert "Chef's special surprise dessert." We spent two hours savoring the course meal while admiring the cherry blossoms at Osaka Castle. The sashimi was fresh and crispy, and the tempura was perfectly fried. The dessert, an ice cream with mugwort flavor, was quite unique. Since lunch is offered at a special price during the cherry blossom season, I recommend making an early reservation for dinner to enjoy both the evening and night views of the cherry blossoms. The dinner is at the regular price. By the time we finished our meal, Osaka Castle was beautifully lit up, and we were able to enjoy the night cherry blossoms. It was a delightful two hours experiencing the springtime in Osaka with both our eyes and taste buds.

This is the top floor restaurant of KKR Hotel. It used to be a teachers' mutual aid association building, I think. There were many school-related customers. The view is excellent as it is right in front of Osaka Castle. Perhaps the reason for its great location is because it was not originally a private establishment. You can have a breakfast buffet for 1400 yen. You don't have to be a hotel guest. They have everything from salads to desserts, and coffee. They offer both Japanese and Western dishes. It may not be as fancy as a breakfast at a 3000 yen-class hotel, but it is more fulfilling than a cafe brunch for 1000 to 1500 yen. Although it lacks a sense of style, the view is great so you can feel luxurious.

The highlight of dining at the restaurant on the upper floors of KKR Hotel, where I had a reunion with people I met on a cruise ship in 2015, is definitely the breathtaking view. This time, I tried the 3500 yen kaiseki course "Jurakudai." Here is a summary of the dishes: - Appetizer: Lotus root tofu, water shield, wasabi, and jelly. The texture of the water shield was excellent. - Soup: Cold chawanmushi with jelly topping. This was the most delicious dish. The cold chawanmushi had a rich flavor. - Side dish: Tuna, salmon, and squid. Decent, but the option for a second serving was nice. I especially enjoyed the marinated tuna. - Grilled dish: Grilled sea bream with Kinzanji miso. The miso didn't seem to match well. Each person had their own portion. - Fried dish: Chateau's freshly fried tempura. Not as outstanding as claimed, but the variety of salts (sansho, matcha, Andes rock salt, curry, shiso, herb) for dipping was interesting. Plus, you could get a refill once. - Main dish: Seasonal rice, dashi, and red miso soup. White rice was also available. - Dessert: Bracken rice cake, ice cream, jelly. - Matcha: A lot of sweets, but the matcha was a nice touch. The location was fantastic, but I wished the service was at least on par with the hotel's standards.

I arrived at KKR Hotel Osaka for a meeting with a customer. I will have lunch at the "Restaurant Chateau" on the 12th floor. I was seated by the window, and I can see a beautiful view of Osaka Castle. Today, I had the daily special set meal for 1500 yen (including tax and service charge). It is a limited quantity menu available only on weekdays. It is not listed on the menu inside the restaurant on the 12th floor (at least it wasn't listed today), so if you are interested, ask the staff. While chatting with the customer and enjoying the view, the dishes were served. The lineup included rice, miso soup, pickles, simmered dish, tempura, fish head, sashimi, and grated nameko mushrooms. I was surprised by the tempura. Among the usual shrimp and sweet potato tempura, there was a round tempura. I thought it was sweet potato tempura, but when I tried it, it was octopus tempura. I don't remember ever eating octopus tempura before, so it was surprising. Non-Kansai customers might think octopus tempura is something Kansai people eat regularly, right? Well, you can think that if you want. Everyone, would you try octopus tempura? The taste was quite delicious, with a creamy texture and real octopus inside. After the meal, plum wine jelly was served. It was a great deal for 1500 yen, including tax and service charge. This hotel is a bit inconveniently located (the hotel shuttle bus departs from the nearest station, so please check). I don't often have the opportunity to visit, but the view was great and the lunch was delicious. Thank you for the meal. May 2015

Located on the 12th floor of KKR Hotel Osaka, this restaurant offers a stunning view of Osaka Castle Park, a famous cherry blossom spot. The view from the window is the highlight, especially during cherry blossom season. The restaurant offers only course meals for lunch and dinner, with special menus during cherry blossom season. Prices are a bit high, but it includes the cost of the location with a great view from the hotel. The food quality is decent, so it's best not to have high expectations.

In front of Osaka Castle, I will have a reservation-only affordable lunch. It seems to offer Japanese cuisine such as kaiseki and bento, but I always reserve the bistro lunch. Limited to 20 meals and requires a reservation, but the content is fulfilling for the price, and it's easy for families to use, with a great location, so I use it occasionally. The bistro lunch is 3600 yen (reservation required) and changes the menu seasonally (about every 2 months), incorporating local Osaka vegetables throughout the course. In March, it included young burdock from Yao, and in July-August, it included edamame. After Obon, when my relatives' children were visiting for summer vacation and saw the photos from our visit last month, they wanted to go too. It was the same menu as last month (laughs) and there wasn't any standout dish, but considering the overall atmosphere and price, it's satisfying enough. So, I often visit for a casual lunch with friends or family on holidays.

We used this restaurant for our parents' golden wedding anniversary. We had a private room with a great view of Osaka Castle for our four children, their partners, and our grandchildren, totaling 15 people. We had a late French lunch starting at 3:30 pm, which was a full course meal. It had been a while since we had French cuisine, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The golden wedding anniversary proceeded in a warm atmosphere, and the staff's service was excellent. We could see Osaka Castle through the window, especially the back of the Toyokuni Shrine. Although it started to cloud over with rain clouds from the north, I'm sure the night view must be amazing. I heard that during the Princess Toyotomi campaign, Osaka Castle was lit up in red. If you have the chance, I recommend trying their lunch as well. It was a memorable experience.

Located on the 12th floor of KKR Hotel Osaka, adjacent to Osaka Castle, this restaurant served as the breakfast venue for hotel guests. However, due to its amazing view, I decided to come back for lunch. The lunch menu starts from 1500 yen, offering both Japanese and Western options. This time, I ordered the Matsukado set for 1500 yen, which seemed to change daily. I arrived early for lunch and managed to secure a window seat right at the front, with a glass wall facing the castle side. The view was absolutely luxurious, with Osaka Castle and its main tower at eye level. From the tower to Osaka Prefectural Police Headquarters, the Prefectural Government Building, OBP, and even the New Otani Hotel and Osaka Castle Hall, the panoramic view was unobstructed and breathtaking. The food had a decent portion size, making it quite impressive for 1500 yen in such a location. There was no service charge. After the meal, I added an iced coffee and stayed a bit longer. The restaurant also had staff with sommelier badges, and it seemed like a great place to enjoy the night view as well.

I went to a restaurant with a friend on a weekday afternoon. We decided to splurge a bit and went to Matsukado, a Japanese restaurant that costs 3500 yen per person. It is located on the 12th floor of KKR Hotel Osaka, offering lunch starting from 1500 yen. The friend who joined me had made a reservation in advance, so we ended up at Matsukado. We ordered a glass of beer and waited for the elegant dishes to be served. The weather was nice, and we could see the vibrant green garden surrounding Osaka Castle through the large glass windows of the restaurant. We had seats by the window, and the view through the window looked like a beautiful wallpaper. The service was attentive, and the restaurant was not crowded, allowing us to relax. The food was served in traditional Japanese lacquerware. We had appetizers, sashimi, chawanmushi, tempura, braised pork, pressed sushi (horse mackerel), miso soup (with grated yam and Nameko mushrooms), and a dessert. The edamame tofu in the appetizer was delicious with a hint of wasabi. The sashimi was fresh and beautifully presented. The chawanmushi was surprising with onions inside and sweetened chicken on top. The braised pork was tender, and the grated maple radish on top added a nice kick. The side vegetables, especially the daikon radish, were tasty. The tempura was crispy with a generous amount of vegetables. The pressed sushi with horse mackerel was perfectly seasoned. The miso soup with grated yam and Nameko mushrooms was flavorful. The dessert was a slightly bitter caramel ice cream, which was a nice way to end the meal. The portions were generous, and we couldn't finish everything. It was a relaxing lunch with a great view, and overall, it was a hidden gem.
