Yukino Nara
This is a famous local specialty from my hometown, Ise City in Mie Prefecture. It doesn't last long, so it's difficult to bring it as a souvenir when I visit, and it's hard to find a chance to eat it. But guess what!!! It's actually available at Tobu Department Store in Ikebukuro in Tokyo!!! I didn't know until a few years ago. A classmate told me. I'm grateful for that. However, Ikebukuro is quite far from Urayasu, so I didn't have many opportunities to go there. But recently, on my way back from Moominvalley Park, I had a chance to transfer at Ikebukuro alone, so I finally bought it. It was around 6 pm, so I was worried if they would still have it, but they did. I was relieved!!! I hesitated, but I chose the seasonal limited edition sakura mochi and strawberry flavors. I forgot the individual prices, but the total for 2 was 1450 yen. When I talked to my friends, considering the prices of various things in Tokyo, I think it's a great deal. Even though it's over 1000 yen, it's totally worth it. The expiration date was the next day, so I enjoyed it that night, the next morning, and again that night. Both the strawberry and sakura mochi were incredibly delicious. So happy!!! My friends, who like simple things, recommended the red bean flavor, so if I have the chance to go again, I'd like to try the traditional simple flavors as well. It's a taste from my hometown, but we didn't eat it at home, so I only started to like it as an adult. But my friends said they used to eat a whole one in one go when they were kids. It does have a gentle taste, so I can see how that's possible (laughs). I kind of want to try it too.
