Located in a mixed-use building underground along Europe Street in Minami, Shun Sai Ka Naka is a hidden gem Chinese restaurant where you can enjoy meticulous cooking. The dishes have a gentle and unassuming flavor, but the spicy ones really pack a punch with their bold taste. The creative Chinese cuisine here is excellent, starting from the appetizers. The sweet and sour pork with black vinegar is a must-try, as well as the various seafood dishes. The master chef is kind and creates a cozy atmosphere. They are open until late at night, making it a perfect spot for when you crave delicious Chinese food in Minami.
Visited in February 2022, feeling like having Chinese food even after skipping breakfast and lunch! Heard they open at 4 pm, so I went to Shun Sai Ka Naka by myself. I had a great takeout experience last time. It's in an underground location in a building, so you might not notice it if you don't know about it! Started with a highball and then decided to go with the 5-year-aged Fukutsuru Ryozan sake (decanted). The appetizer was a mix of various dishes, followed by dishes like mouth-watering chicken, shrimp and chrysanthemum dumplings, spare ribs in black vinegar sauce, and spicy cod milt with tofu. I ordered smaller portions as I was alone. From the appetizer onwards, everything was great. The clams marinated in Shaoxing wine, spicy wood ear mushrooms, and well-seasoned vegetables and tomatoes were all delightful. I wanted to try everything on the menu! The mouth-watering chicken with a bold spicy flavor, the dumplings with shrimp and chrysanthemum, and the spare ribs in black vinegar sauce were all fantastic. The black vinegar really stood out without leaving a bad aftertaste, and the ribs were so satisfying to eat. Lastly, the spicy cod milt with tofu was a must-try. The spicy flavor here is really intense and delicious. The tender cod milt and tofu, along with the spicy sauce, were a perfect combination. I finished with the sake decanter empty, so that was it for the day. Having some drinks, eating well, and spending around 7000 yen was very satisfying. They also have seasonal dishes like spring rolls with spiny lobster and Shanghai hairy crab, so I look forward to revisiting and trying those next time. Thank you for the meal.
