In Tokyo, the Mandarin Peninsula is pet-friendly just like the Mandarin Peninsula, but in my experience, it has by far the highest rate of pets (dogs) staying there. The atmosphere feels like it's all about the pets, and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Not only the rooms, but also the cafe and restaurant are pet-friendly. You constantly encounter dogs in areas other than the rooms, but they are all well-behaved even when there are other dogs around, which is surprising. The age range of the guests on this day was mainly 30-50 years old, including several solo female travelers. The cafe patrons were younger than expected. The clientele was welcoming and the atmosphere was comfortable. There is no club lounge, but all guests receive special perks in the morning and evening. Evening Social Hour is from 5-6pm at the District Brasserie Bar Lounge on the 2nd floor, where you can enjoy sangria, soft drinks, and canapes. The staff kindly offers refills. Morning Kickstart is available until 10 or 11 am at The Jones Cafe Bar on the 1st floor, where you can take out one drink. Considering the room rate for this day, these two services are much appreciated and add value. There may or may not be a welcome drink or welcome sweets at check-in. The bottled water provided is Fuji brand, 780ml, which needs to be placed diagonally in the refrigerator to chill. Coffee is Nespresso, and there is no tea, which is unusual. Green tea is Sayuri, which may not be to everyone's liking. Room service is available, and the original bath amenities are nice, especially the hand soap with a citrus scent. The staff I encountered were all friendly and cheerful, especially the women at the restaurant on the 2nd floor. The room layout may vary even within the same category, and there are other small details that may be of interest to those with a playful spirit. If you are traveling with a pet or not staying in a suite, this hotel may be more suited for solo travelers or younger guests. The lobby is small, and at times there may not be a place to hang out, especially during weddings or when the cafe is busy.
