Today, I decided to explore the area of Taisho early in the day. Taisho has a sense of sophistication and spaciousness that I have only recently started to appreciate. I have often wandered around the ferry, factories, warehouses, and riverside areas, but on this day, I wanted to leisurely explore the streets and alleys of the town. I set out from Taisho Station and headed south, aiming for the central area. I spotted a shopping street in the distance. The shopping street stretched north and south, offering quite a long walk. The atmosphere was reminiscent of Nishinari with its dimness and sophistication. While pedaling my mama-chari slowly through the sparsely populated shopping street, I kept my eyes peeled for interesting shops or items. Suddenly, I noticed a small shop resembling a food stall, with an elderly lady grilling horumon (offal) on a hot plate by the storefront. I had to try it! I couldn't resist the sight of my favorite food being cooked right before my eyes. As I approached the shop, I saw that they had a menu offering horumon and kimo (liver) at a reasonable price of 70 yen per skewer. I decided to order two skewers of each. Unfortunately, there was no seating available, but the lady mentioned that I could take the food to a nearby izakaya to eat. However, due to the current situation, the izakaya was not allowing customers to bring in outside food. I received my freshly grilled skewers and pondered where to enjoy them. I couldn't find a park nearby, so I reluctantly decided to eat on the sidewalk, feeling a bit uncouth. The horumon skewers were generously coated in a savory garlic-flavored sauce, and they were delicious. I wished I had a beer to accompany them, but drinking on the street was not an option. After finishing my meal, I briefly considered buying more skewers as souvenirs, but I resisted the temptation as I had plans to visit a bar later. I made a mental note to return for more horumon skewers when things calmed down. With a tinge of regret for not discovering the shop sooner, I continued to wander the streets of Taisho.

Leaving the Hirazake store near Sanzen shopping street, our next destination is Izumio shopping street. After a 15-minute walk, I finally saw the red lantern with the word "Hormone" written on it, indicating the target restaurant "Hormone Chikara" that I have been wanting to visit! The style looks similar to Yamaki in Nishinari, but the prices are slightly cheaper, with no pork belly available here. I heard rumors that this place is the "root store of Yamaki," but I'm not sure if that's true. Normally, I would have enjoyed standing and enjoying skewers with a can of beer in hand, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, standing and drinking is not allowed. However, takeout was available, so I got 1 skewer of pork intestine and 3 skewers of hormone for a total of 4 skewers, costing 280 yen. I decided to buy a chu-hi from a convenience store and enjoy it while walking through the shopping street. Stay tuned for more... #HormoneChikara #HormonePower #TaishoHormone #Yamaki #StandingDrinking #StandingDrinkingHormone #SanzenShoppingStreet

Hello, today I visited the restaurant "Hormone Chikara" for the Taisho Tour. It is said to be related to the famous Yamaaki in Nishinari, but regardless, the style is similar. They offer two types of hormone and liver, both priced at 70 yen each. There is no fancy interior, and people gather around the hot plate outside to enjoy their meal. The only drink options are beer and oolong tea, but you can bring your own if you want. On this day, they only had hormone as the liver was sold out. The garlic-flavored sauce is appetizing and addictive, especially when topped with shichimi. I couldn't help but eat too much. Overall, it was a delicious experience. If this restaurant was near my home, I would definitely visit often. Thank you for the meal.

We drank in Kyobashi, drank in Higobashi, and headed to Taisho after listening to my whims. The group consisted of three birthday girls (let's keep the number of laps a secret). I bravely took them and they were very happy. The mom cooked hormone skewers and liver skewers in front of us, and we enjoyed taking them at our own pace! No matter how many times I come, it's the best. The first Sunday evening was completely different from the last time I came, with 7-8 people around the counter, creating a foreign (?) atmosphere. This is also the best! I want to go again!!! (I will go)

As expected from Taisho era! I went there on a friend's recommendation! "Hormon Chikara"! You can pick and eat hormone skewers and liver skewers right in front of you for only 70 yen each, at your own pace! It was about a quick 2 hours from the start at 3 pm until just before 5 pm (a quick 2 hours). If I go to Taisho again, I would love to stop by there again!

I used to eat at the store, but now they only offer takeout. It's a great place to add some variety while out drinking, so I will definitely visit again.

I made my debut at Horumonryoku at the end of the year, for the second time! I arrived a little after 6:30 pm and first had some beer and liver skewers! It was amazing! But it was cold that day, so one hour was my limit. I'd prefer to go during daylight next time. (I didn't take any photos this time) Well, anyway, I'll definitely stop by again!

Delicious! It may not beat Yamaki, but it's a people's favorite, great taste! I don't get to visit Taisho-ku often, but I'd love to come more often.

I stopped by because I went to Taisho! The place is a little far from the station! There are two types of horumon and kimo, but I was surprised by the low prices. If it was near my house, I might stop by often. The auntie was not very friendly, but she seemed kind.

In Osaka, there are two main trends in the horumon-yaki (grilled offal) scene. One is centered around the Korean and meat-related communities in Ikuno Ward, focusing on beef horumon. The other trend is in Taisho Ward, where the Okinawan community is known for its pork horumon. In the Ayrin district of Nishinari, which attracts day laborers from both areas, you can find both styles of horumon being served. One representative spot for pork horumon in Nishinari is "Yamaki," where pork intestines and liver are grilled on a hot plate facing the street. Customers can pick up the skewers and dip them in a garlic sauce before eating. Another similar spot is "Chikara," also located in Taisho, which operates in the same style as Yamaki but at a slightly lower price of 60 yen per skewer compared to Yamaki's 70 yen. The garlic flavor in the sauce at Chikara is not as strong as at Yamaki, and the liver is grilled more intensely. Looking at the age of the mother and father inside the shop and the old-fashioned appearance of the building, it is possible to consider Yamaki's roots as being connected to Chikara. In a way, Chikara can be seen as a valuable shop representing the original essence of Osaka's pork horumon. It is hoped that they will continue their business for as long as possible. I climbed the ladder of grilled skewers at "Horumon Chikara" in Osaka, feeling like a reptile cafe at "Agein" where I got to hold snakes and geckos. I headed to another teppanyaki skewer restaurant, located in the middle of a local area loved by residents. It reminded me of a place I saw on Kansai local TV. The menu includes 60 skewers for 60 yen, 60 skewers for 300 yen, and canned super dry beer for 150 yen. We toasted with tea. The atmosphere and pricing at this place are reminiscent of Yamakiyan. Families with babies were buying skewers in bulk, probably to feed their growing children. The skewers were cut and placed on sticks for us to eat. After having a few, we paid the bill, which came to 1000 yen for the skewers and drinks. Excuse me, thank you! *burp*

The restaurant is usually closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and rainy days, but today it was unexpectedly open so I impulsively bought some food. They only offer two menu items: pork offal or pork liver, each priced at 80 yen per skewer. I decided to buy both. Currently, they only offer takeout. I don't usually eat pork offal, but this was delicious! It has a strong offal flavor, not a refined taste, but it pairs perfectly with beer. The pork liver also had a slight bitterness typical of liver, but it was tender and also went well with beer. I was surprised by how tasty the pork offal was. They post their closure days on Instagram, so it's a good idea to check before going. Some customers even come by motorcycle or car to buy 30 skewers at a time. Since they are not often open, if you see them open, it's a must-buy!

When it comes to horumon-yaki, people may often think of Nishinari, but there are actually many horumon-yaki restaurants in Taisho Ward as well! One highly recommended spot is Horumon Chikara, established 38 years ago. The friendly proprietress was doing the grilling. Currently, they only offer takeout due to the pandemic. The price of one piece of liver or horumon is only 70 yen, which is incredibly cheap and they have kept the price the same for a long time. The texture is perfect with a crispy exterior and a flavorful sweet and savory sauce. They are related to YamaKi Imazato, a popular horumon-yaki restaurant in Nishinari. The owner of YamaKi trained together with the owner of Horumon Chikara at a horumon-yaki restaurant in Nishinari in the past. Delicious and affordable horumon-yaki! Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I visited "Hormone Chikara" located about a 15-minute walk from Taisho. They offer hormone for 70 yen each and offal for 70 yen each, at a low price! They cook it on the spot after taking the order and pour sauce over it. The sauce has a strong garlic flavor and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a takeout-only pork offal shop called "Chikara" for the first time in Taisho Ward, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. I missed the chance to go the other day when the YouTuber "Kameda Shiro" was there. Currently, they only have skewered pork offal and liver on the menu, each priced at 70 yen, which is quite cheap. I heard that the owner of the popular offal shop "Yamaki" in Nishinari trained here, but I'm not sure. Due to the pandemic, there were only customers ordering takeout. The pork offal skewers were a bit burnt when reheated at home, but still acceptable. Pork offal is often associated with Kanto region, but it seems to be popular in certain areas of Osaka as well. Pork has a stronger flavor compared to beef or chicken, but once you get used to it, you might start craving that unique taste. It has a good amount of garlic and tastes great with shichimi pepper sprinkled on top. It goes well with alcohol too. I regret only buying 5 skewers and would like to visit again in the future. Thank you for the meal.

Is Yamaaki better than Lawson for a 100 yen can of chu-hi? Yamaaki's horumon is 70 yen for 1 piece, and liver is 100 yen. The address is 2-12-15 Izumio, Taisho-ku, Osaka City, Osaka.

The garlic flavor is strong and it's really delicious. It's cheap at 70 yen per serving.
