I purchased a salad made with domestic burdock at a deli shop I often see in the department store basement. It cost 286 yen including tax. The burdock is crunchy, which is the main feature. It also contains corn, konjac, cucumber, paprika, carrot, and beans, which I found to be unique.

My wife, who is only beautiful, suffers from severe anemia and craves blood. So she makes efforts to cook and eat liver, which is rich in iron, in various ways. However, even before making an effort, she loves liver. So, I bought a souvenir of liver cutlet, which is not common in Kansai, that she had been wanting to eat for a while. Today, I ate delicious curry and shaved ice alone as a way to make up for my sins. When I was living in Yushima during a business trip, I purchased liver cutlets frequently from the deli section of Ueno Matsuzakaya department store. The liver cutlet comes with a sweet miso-flavored sauce already applied, which may taste like cheap candy, but I don't dislike it. I hope the liver cutlet will help with my wife's anemia! LOL.

I went to the deli section at Matsuzakaya department store to find some snacks to go with alcohol. The variety of options at the department store's tenants always leaves me indecisive. On this day, I focused on snacks rather than bento boxes. I chose a deli box with 9 compartments, which cost 1099 yen. It contained croquettes, fried fish, meatballs, and other filling items, as well as lighter options like fresh spring rolls, potato salad, and carrot salad. It didn't have tomatoes, which I don't like. The total calorie count was 548 kcal, and it was delicious without being too high in calories. It was a satisfying deli experience.

This is a typical middle-aged man's shopping trip. The side dishes were already at home, so I went out to buy the main dish. I remembered a delicious bento I had at Shinagawa Station the other day, so today I decided to look for side dishes here. I came across "Liver Cutlet" made from domestic pork. I bought one with sauce and one with miso sauce to try both flavors. I also found some Black Pepper-flavored Fried Chicken Wings, which I knew my family would like and would go well with beer. The total cost was 828 yen. The prices displayed at the store were all tax-inclusive, making shopping easy. Before coming here, my family asked me to buy some sweet potatoes from Azuma Koshin. I bought both "Azuma" and "Satsuma" varieties, totaling 600 grams. That concluded my shopping for the day. Back at home, the Fried Chicken Wings with black pepper flavor were tasty and had a lot of meat on them. The Liver Cutlets, especially the miso sauce one, helped mask any strong liver taste. However, it might still be off-putting for those who don't like liver. Both varieties of Liver Cutlets were generously coated with sauce, making it unnecessary to add anything when using them for a "Liver Cutlet Bowl." The prices for these deli items were reasonable and comparable to those at a regular supermarket. Overall, I enjoyed a satisfying and delicious meal.

I was wandering around the basement floor of Ueno Matsuzakaya and was surprised. I couldn't believe that I could get such a large pork cutlet for under 200 yen!
Items I tried:
- Miso liver cutlet: The sweet and rich miso sauce was surprisingly delicious. I'm not usually a fan of liver, but the sweetness of the miso helped to mask the liver's strong flavor. I often eat liver more for its health benefits rather than its taste, but this was a pleasant surprise that made me enjoy it with rice.
- Curry croquette: The thick and creamy filling was delightful to eat. It was simply delicious! I will definitely buy this again.

【Reason for visit】After finishing today's food tour, it was time to find the perfect snack for tonight's drink, so I headed to Ueno Matsuzakaya ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノドタドタ and looked around various stores before deciding on a place (≧▽≦)【Visit time】August 6th (Sunday) around 12:50 (^o^)/【Number of customers】4 people (*^^*)【Item purchased】Omurice Yakisoba (^-^)【Reason for purchase】After seeing various dishes at different stores (ーωー)ジー, I suddenly felt like having yakisoba for the first time in a while (^^)/ Now, let's dig in m(._.)m【Impressions of the food】The yakisoba noodles were not too soggy for a deli dish, with a decent texture (^∇^) The noodles were well coated with the sauce and had a consistent flavor (*^^*) The vegetables, cabbage and carrots, provided a crunchy accent to the dish (^ー^) However, both vegetables lacked a bit of sweetness (-_-;) The thin omelette seemed to have some additional ingredients as the egg flavor and sweetness were quite subtle ↓ On top of the omelette, okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise were drizzled, with the sauce resembling the sweet and less tangy taste of Otafuku sauce (^_^) The seaweed and bonito flakes added a decorative touch with their aroma and umami already present (>_<) "Itadakimasu" indeed m(._.)m

☆Cheese Curry Pork Cutlet Bento (699 yen) comes in two layers, with rice on the bottom and curry on top. When opened, it was a surprise to find cheese on top of the rice. The curry on the top is spicy and quite hot. The bento contains 3 pieces of pork cutlet, asparagus, bell peppers, and potatoes. ☆Sweet and Sour Sauce with Shrimp and Lotus Root Shrimp is fried and has a nice texture. The dish also includes lotus root, bell peppers, eggplant, okra, and pumpkin. The pumpkin adds a nice sweetness to the dish. The flavor is rich and strong.

EASHION, located in the department store basement, offers a wide variety of bento boxes and side dishes. Their Western-style bento boxes are especially impressive. Even though their prices are higher compared to chain stores, the quality and variety of the items make it worth it. To reduce food waste, they often discount bento boxes nearing their expiration time. I purchased a simple bento box with a discounted price tag and enjoyed a delicious hamburger steak with a citrusy sauce. The vegetables and rice were also tasty. Overall, EASHION offers a unique selection of bento boxes that are worth trying, especially when you can snag a discount.

I went to the Isetan department store in Ueno, and visited the basement food floor. It was around 7:30 pm, just 30 minutes before closing time. The atmosphere was lively with all the shops starting their discount sales. Isetan was offering a 30% discount on all items, and there were still a decent selection of items left. I chose the popular assorted bento box from Isetan, which included Iberico pork, salmon, haras shrimp cutlet, tofu hamburger, and more. Originally priced at 899 yen, I got it for 30% off at 629 yen. The bento box from Isetan looked beautiful and tasted delicious. I especially loved the salmon, it was incredibly tasty. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

A deli shop located on the basement floor of Matsuzakaya Ueno store. They offer a great variety of deli dishes and bento boxes. Lately, they seem to be focusing on "sauce cutlets" as there are many brown cutlets displayed in the showcase. I bought a bento box called "Small Shrimp and Niigata Prefecture Maiko Mushroom Mix" this time. I got it for half price at 3 pm as it needed to be eaten by 5 pm. The price was 386 yen including tax! Great value for money! It's a good boutique that also offers generous discounts.

Located in the basement of Mitsukoshi department store, this shop offers a variety of bento boxes and side dishes. The name "eashion" is a combination of "eat" and "fashion," and the food here is always beautifully presented. The bento boxes are colorful and appealing, making it hard to resist. I frequent this place often as there are several branches. This time, I purchased the following bento box:
- Western-style Bento Box: 915 yen
Compared to other bento boxes, this one has less green but features bright colors like yellow, red, orange, and green. It includes a large shrimp fry which adds a luxurious touch to the overall appearance. The rice is chicken rice with a mild ketchup flavor. The fluffy egg and hamburger with cheese topping were delicious. The croquette with plenty of cheese was a highlight. The potato salad had a rich flavor, and the shrimp fry was served with tartar sauce. This bento box is like a lunch for adults with a child-like excitement. Let's just ignore the calorie count of 1066kcal for now.

When I went down to the basement from the 1st floor of Ueno Matsuzakaya using the escalator, I found myself right in front of the E-ion store! And in front of me was my favorite, "domestic pork liver cutlet," freshly made! I usually buy liver cutlets at the E-ion store in Shibuya Tokyu Toyoko, but this time I couldn't resist the temptation and bought it at Ueno... I know it might feel awkward to keep posting the same image (of liver cutlets) on food review sites, but the "domestic pork liver cutlet" I bought at Ueno Matsuzakaya this time was just fried in the kitchen at the back of the E-ion store, not delivered from the central kitchen of E-ion. So, the appearance may be the same, but the finishing and final state are different. The staff explained that it was just made. So, it really was just finished. I immediately had it as my diet food for that night. Although the calorie content of one liver cutlet is slightly high, I skip rice at night for my diet, so I don't gain weight even while drinking alcohol. Just having my favorite food makes me very satisfied and say "thank you for the meal." However, the sauce taste was slightly stronger than the liver cutlets I usually eat, and the texture was firm. Even with the same E-ion (Kane Beauty Products), the taste can vary slightly depending on the branch (store). Makes sense.

I really liked this restaurant because the presentation was very appealing to women. I bought some chicken nanban-like dishes that were left over near closing time. They were already cut and had vegetables sandwiched in between, which was cute. However, when I tried them, I felt like the oil had gone bad. Maybe it was because they were leftover items from closing time? The batter was too thick and I couldn't enjoy the chicken. It was disappointing because I liked the appearance but felt a big difference in taste. I didn't mind when I bought freshly made items from other stores before, but this time, even though it wasn't a discounted item, I ended up leaving a lot uneaten. Such a shame.

This is a delicatessen in the Matsuzakaya department store in Ueno Okachimachi. I happened to wander into this department store looking for something cheap and interesting, and that's when I spotted the domestic pork liver cutlet for 144 yen. I decided to get one. The logo of the store was shaped like an e-shion... Liver cutlet at an e-shion store? It reminded me of a store in Shibuya Hikarie. At that time, I also got a liver cutlet for 140 yen (before the consumption tax increase). The liver cutlet here has a wonderful flavor with the sauce soaked in. It's a perfect snack to go with beer or chuhai.

I visited the Matsuzakaya department store's basement after a long time and was impressed by the newly renovated "Hoppe Town" with a wide variety of food options. I decided to try the delicatessen which specialized in healthy ingredients, with clear calorie labeling on the products making it easy to choose. I opted for the "28-ingredient Echigo soy tofu burger with plenty of vegetables" for 699 yen. The dish was packed with two tofu hamburgers topped with sweet sauce, okra, eggplant, broccoli, lotus root, pumpkin, boiled egg, tomato, mixed hijiki, and more. Despite the symmetrical presentation, the dish was flavorful and satisfying, especially with multigrain rice. This type of bento box is not commonly found in convenience stores or bento shops, making it a convenient and delicious option. The volume was surprisingly filling, and I later learned that this store is part of the "Kane Food" brand, offering a variety of Japanese and Western-style dishes. I look forward to trying more items from their menu.

There is a section in the basement of Mitsukoshi Ueno store called Hoppetown, where delicious side dishes and bento boxes are lined up. Among them, the most eye-catching was the Hitsumabushi bento made with eel from Isshiki, Aichi Prefecture. The bento included not only grilled eel but also shrimp fry, chicken meatballs, rolled omelette, simmered vegetables, and pickles, making it look very appetizing. The grilled eel was tender and matched well with the rice coated with sauce, making it very delicious. It was a satisfying bento with generous portions and both taste and appearance lived up to expectations.

Ignore if you don't like liver. But the liver cutlets here are easy to eat. The quality of the liver is good, so it's not smelly for those who can eat it normally. There may be variations in quality among branches, but this place is quite consistent. If you're thinking of going all the way to Tsukishima this month and waiting in line to buy, it's enough to come here. The old "Satou" in Tsukishima used to sell liver cutlets for 120 yen, and they were exquisite (they put a lot of effort into removing the blood vessels, so it wasn't smelly at all and had a rich deliciousness). There's no need to go to Tsukishima just for liver cutlets now. The liver cutlets here are Western-style. If you're not too picky, it's good enough. The miso sauce available only in the evening is also good. You can also get a good deal by buying liver cutlets, horse mackerel fry, and oyster fry as a set. Even if you don't, it's reasonably priced.

Ueno after a long time. I often saw this store at Daimaru Tokyo, but it's also in Matsuya. The Ueno Matsuya store has a wide variety of deli menu options. Today, I bought spare ribs and hamburgers. I wasn't expecting much, but the side dishes of mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables were quite good. The selection is different from the bento at Daimaru Tokyo store.
