Today, I had lunch in Kyobashi, so I went to the Chinese restaurant "Toen" in Katamachi that I've always wanted to try. I had the Tianjin-style fried rice in a large portion, which was only available during weekdays at lunchtime. Even with the extra charge for a large portion, it was only 750 yen, which is a great deal. The restaurant was crowded with customers coming in since opening, showing its popularity as a local Chinese restaurant. Toen, 1-9-34 Katamachi, Osaka, Osaka, Japan.

I explored the area near Osaka Castle North Exit, away from Kyobashi. This area is known for its lunch-focused famous restaurants. I visited a shop with a very traditional atmosphere, with striking red curtains. Despite it being early afternoon, the place was quite busy, which impressed me given its location. The interior had a small counter and about four tables for two, run by a husband and wife. There was no menu book, so you had to order by looking at the menu posted on the wall. Since it was my first time, I wanted to order a set, but there was no mention of a set. I ended up ordering the "Ramen for 450 yen and Fried Rice for 550 yen." The prices were incredibly cheap, so I expected small portions, but the fried rice was more than two bowls worth. It had a nice, fluffy texture and was seasoned just right. The ramen had a typical Chinese-style taste and toppings. There was no particular emphasis on the ramen itself, just a standard Chinese dish they offered. Many customers around me seemed to be satisfied with just fried rice and soup. Since it was a husband and wife operation, labor costs were likely low, but I couldn't help but wonder how they managed to stay afloat with such low prices. For your information, the total bill came out to a solid 900 yen.

At first glance, it may seem intimidating, but this restaurant is actually very popular with a constant stream of customers. The interior has a strong Showa retro vibe. The space per person is a bit tight, but the family-run atmosphere makes the service warm and welcoming. I tried the fried noodles on my first visit and found a great spot! I will definitely come back again.

A popular Chinese restaurant in Kyobashi. Inside, there were a counter and several tables for two. The menu had a variety of dishes like fried rice, ramen, and Tianjin rice. This time, I ordered tofu Tianjin noodles. I was surprised to see it was just simple tofu, not mapo tofu! I had assumed it was mapo tofu. The taste was average. The price was 600 yen, which is quite cheap. Other menu items were also around 600 yen, so it was very affordable!

Chinese Cuisine "Tohoen" located 3 minutes walk from Osaka-jo Kita station offers traditional Chinese dishes. The retro atmosphere inside the restaurant gives a feeling of deliciousness as soon as you enter. At lunchtime, the place is bustling with customers, especially ordering the popular dish, Tianjin-style fried rice. It is a satisfying dish with half-cooked eggs and plenty of fried rice. The fluffy eggs and generous portion of fried rice will surely fill you up. The taste is refreshing, but adding chili oil makes it spicy and delicious. If you're not a fan of spicy food, be cautious as it can be quite hot. Personally, I recommend adding a little chili oil for flavor variation, and it tastes best when eaten with char siu. I have posted a video on YouTube showing the atmosphere of the restaurant and how the dishes are made. Check it out on YouTube → foodiesheena. I found a town Chinese restaurant with a lot of flavor. I really wanted to eat fried rice after watching it on TV yesterday, so I searched for a place I hadn't been to before and ended up here! I really wanted to try Tianjin yakisoba, but I resisted because I was there for the fried rice. Next time, I will definitely try the Tianjin yakisoba! The seasoned minced meat was sweet and the fried rice was delicious, so I want to eat it again, but I will probably have a hard time deciding.

Today I had lunch at this place♪ I came across a retro Chinese restaurant after a long time~(#^.^#) The restaurant was almost full with a mix of construction workers and office workers enjoying their lunch. I ordered the fried rice (chahan) for 500 yen, which was quite reasonable. It didn't come with pickled ginger, so it lacked a bit of flair. I thought it would be sticky, but it was actually quite fluffy with the right amount of salt, and it tasted delicious. There were many people ordering the Tianjin rice, so I would like to try that next time. Thank you for the meal♪

Around 12:30 on a regular day, I visited the restaurant for the second time with my friends. My friends ordered the ramen for 450 yen, which is so cheap! I decided to go for the Tianjin noodles for 550 yen this time. Since I enjoyed the Tianjin fried rice (650 yen) last time, I opted for the ramen this time. The prices are really affordable! After we placed our orders, the food arrived in just 4 minutes. So fast! Perfect for lunch! The Tianjin noodles had a lot of eggs in them, I wonder how many they used... The taste was like egg noodles, old-fashioned Chinese style, thin and easy to slurp. The Tianjin dish was as delicious as ever. But personally, I think I prefer the fried rice more. Next time, I'll try the Tianjin fried noodles. Thank you for the meal!

I was told by a friend, "The appearance of the restaurant may seem old, but don't judge by looks! You'll understand when you taste it! It's really delicious, so give it a try!" So, I decided to visit the restaurant for lunch by myself! I had passed by the place a few times before, but the appearance of the restaurant gave me the impression that it might not be open. The interior was not sparkling clean either, giving off a somewhat unwelcoming vibe. However, the taste was outstanding! I want to try all the dishes on the menu! I have been exploring various eateries in the area, but this place surpasses others in terms of taste! Here are some highlights: - Tianjin fried rice set for 650 yen: A substantial portion of delicious fried rice! The savory flavor, along with the perfectly half-cooked egg on top, was exceptional. I was surprised to see an elderly lady who was a customer taking care of the payments when the restaurant started to get crowded. She kindly offered me a piece of candy, insisting that I take more than one in her Osaka dialect. I politely declined and took just one. This seems to be a popular spot known to locals in the area. It can get quite crowded during lunchtime, with businessmen lining up to dine. I'm glad I discovered this great restaurant! Word of mouth and reviews from followers are the best sources of information. I'll try to visit for ramen next time and share my review. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I came here after eating trendy ramen at "Kuon." This small Chinese restaurant is located in a place where you can see Osaka Castle's main tower. The interior is old-fashioned with a TV, a bright blue L-shaped counter, and a few small tables on the left side. The menu is simple, with affordable individual dishes. I ordered the "Tenshinhan" which was served on rice with mushrooms, onions, leeks, carrots, and a half-cooked egg on top. The sauce was a gentle soy-based one. The accompanying soup had a sharp pepper flavor that complemented the dish well. The food was delicious, and the service was quick. The restaurant is usually busy during lunchtime with regular customers from nearby. Overall, it was a satisfying experience.

I unexpectedly had a delicious Tianjin rice. Happy New Year! The first review of the year is for a restaurant I visited at the end of last year, called Toen. The restaurant is located near Osaka Castle North Exit Station, next to a pretty famous ramen shop. The restaurant has an old Chinese-style look, which made me curious to check it out. To my disappointment, there was no Chinese-style soup, but I did discover a very tasty Tianjin rice dish. The Tianjin rice costs 550 yen and despite its appearance of a tea-based sauce, it was actually lightly flavored with a delicious broth. It was filled with onions, mushrooms, leeks, and carrots, making it rich in ingredients. The sauce coating the dish had a fluffy egg texture that was surprisingly flavorful. The Tianjin rice was so delicious that I couldn't help but do a little victory pose in my mind. The restaurant's appearance may suggest a typical Chinese-style dish, but the Tianjin rice was a pleasant surprise with its intricate flavors. The soup had a light yuzu flavor. Overall, the dish was full of surprises and it was a delight to find such a delicious Tianjin rice for only 550 yen. It would have been even better with Chinese-style soup, but I am still grateful for this delightful meal.

◎Osaka City, Katamachi, Daytime Chinese Drinking◎ I finally visited the Chinese restaurant "Momozono" near Osaka Castle Kitazume Station that I had wanted to go to for a while. I went for lunch on a weekday and found that the place was bustling with local office workers and residents. The restaurant is run by a friendly family, and has a casual atmosphere that I really like. On this day, I shared the W-Tianjin menu with Tianjin Yakisoba and Tianjin Fried Rice, and enjoyed a delicious and satisfying meal. Just seeing the word "Tianjin" gets me excited, so having a W-Tianjin menu of Yakisoba and Fried Rice for lunch was a thrilling experience for a Tianjin fan like me. The prices are reasonable, the food is delicious as expected, and the taste of this local Chinese restaurant never disappoints. While enjoying the meal, I listened to the mother's stories about the more prosperous days of the business in the past. I hope that these kind of popular and familiar Chinese restaurants will continue to thrive as treasures of the community. The other menu items also looked delicious, so I look forward to trying different dishes on my next visit. #Osaka Castle Kitazume Station #Local Chinese restaurant #Friendly and casual atmosphere #Cheap and delicious #Wide variety of Tianjin menu #Kind service #Suitable for business lunches.

I tried the off-menu Curry Champon and it was delicious! The hot curry on a hot day was perfect. The spiciness of the curry and the heat of the sauce made it addictive. And for only 550 yen, it's a great deal.

A fairly rare town Chinese restaurant. I ordered fried rice expecting it. It's quite a large portion! And it only costs 500 yen, which is a great deal! The taste of the ingredients is a bit bland, so ordering it with ramen might be the best option.

The mother, the chef, and the wife are all wonderful people! Everything they serve is delicious, and even if it's not on the menu at night, they will make it for you. It's hard to find a restaurant like this. It's always packed at lunchtime, but with such cheap prices and generous portions, it's no wonder they have so many customers. The half portion for an extra 200 yen is a great deal! Honestly, it's more like a full portion. Personally, I highly recommend the fried noodles! Lately, everything has become plate udon, with only thin fried noodles available, but here they still serve proper fried noodles. Now, what should I eat today?
