"Isshindo Honpo" incorporates the culture of health promotion called "Yosei" that originated in the Edo period into their products, known as "Yosei Ip-pins." The item I purchased this time is the "Tokyo Vegetable Rice Cracker," which contains domestic vegetables. The packaging features a stylish and luxurious Japanese design, making it a popular choice for gifts, but I bought it for my own snack. I have also tried individual flavors before, but this time I bought a set of three varieties in one bag. The three flavors are "Burdock Rice Cracker," "Onion Rice Cracker," and "Pumpkin Rice Cracker," each with a different shape, resulting in varying textures. The burdock is finely sliced, the onion is cut into strips, and the pumpkin is in a fluffy form. I particularly enjoy the subtle sweetness of the pumpkin and the natural flavor of the burdock. Thank you for the meal.

♪Blow and they fly like shogi pieces♪ (sung by Hideo Murata) Actually, my uncle is a shogi player (lol). I tried the shogi-themed candy jointly developed by the popular "Hifumin". The package describes it as "a glittering golden shogi piece candy with a deep flavor", and on the back, there is a picture of a cat playing shogi, typical of Hifumin! The candy itself was a simple and ordinary bokkou ame.

After having lunch at "Ryusaku" in Ginza, I headed towards Higashi-Ginza Station to return to my home in Tokyo. I descended underground at the Kabuki-za theater and arrived at the Mokumachi Square. It was much livelier and more interesting than when I last visited just before its opening, so I decided to take a look around the various food stalls out of curiosity. When I approached a stall called "Isshindou Honpo," a lady offered me a sample of their delicious rice crackers. I tried the "Sakata Kanpei Gobou Sen" and was surprised by the rich flavor of burdock that filled my mouth. Next, I tried another rice cracker that had a strong onion flavor, which was equally surprising. The texture was light and fluffy, unlike any rice cracker I had tried before, almost like "Curls." The lady then recommended the "Bekkou Ume Ame," a plum candy with embedded plum flesh. It had a unique mix of sweet candy and tart plum flavors that was quite interesting. I was also surprised that the plum flesh lasted until the very end, even as I reached the last bit of candy. In the end, despite just intending to browse, I ended up purchasing the "Gen Tamenari Onion Sen" for myself and the "Kabuki Kyogen Assorted Bekkou Ume Ame" for my wife before heading home.

Located directly connected to exit 3 of Higashi Ginza Station, on the underground second floor of Kabukiza. I happened to stumble upon Kabukiza, and it looks beautiful, surprising. So, I took the opportunity to look around. There were many students who appeared to be in middle and high school, on a field trip or school excursion perhaps, along with elderly people who came to watch Kabuki, so it was quite lively. Surrounding the Kikuzakamachi Plaza, there are bento shops and cafes, with small shops lined up in the middle like stalls. Among them, the shop that apparently offered enthusiastic tastings was this one. While I was at another shop, my friend seems to have tried various things. I received a piece of bokkou ume candy from my friend who bought it, and it was delicious with a combination of sweetness and saltiness. I purchased the gobou senbei (\380). When I opened the package, a faint scent of gobou wafted out. The kinpira gobou flavor, with a hint of spiciness, had a crispy and light texture, not greasy. The unique design would surely be appreciated as a souvenir.

On June 30, 2013, the first thing that caught my eye when I came to Kamikaze was this place. They offered plenty of samples to try. They had three types of senbei: pumpkin, burdock, and onion. Plus, they let you sample plum-infused raindrop candy. The best one was the onion. It was absolutely delicious. The onion had the perfect combination of aroma, crunchiness, and sweetness. The others were just okay. The candy seemed like it would help when I was feeling really tired, with its salty and sweet taste, even though it wasn't my usual preference. So, I bought some onions for home and some onions and candy as souvenirs. If it's onions, it's worth buying them while visiting Kamikaze.

The cute and realistic design of the snacks, with the blue color of the bonito and the red color of the sea bream, reminds me of carp streamers. I'm thinking of hanging them by the window and letting them flutter in the wind. They look cute whether hung vertically or horizontally, or even when turned inside out. Although I initially planned to keep them until the expiration date, I couldn't resist trying them. The snacks are small squares of crispy fried tofu. They are quite crunchy and hard, providing a satisfying sensation when chewed with the back teeth. They are cute and delicious, a delightful gift. Thank you for the treat.

When a human shogi event was held in Himeji, my friend bought me a souvenir. When I opened it, I was surprised to find a calligraphy by Kazuo Katō. Reading other comments, it seems that it was a product co-produced by Mr. Katō. The product is interesting, with ivory candy shaped like shogi pieces and rhymes like "king" and "bishop" pressed on them. As for the taste, it is a light ivory candy.

I chose Tokyo Hanzomon Isshindo Honpo☆ I received a souvenir from a mother who is always flying around. It's Kabuki-themed Bekkou Ume Ame (plum candy) (^^) A luxurious candy with a shiny gold Bekkou candy with Nankou Ume from Kishu floating in it. A candy full of Edo atmosphere. Have you ever received such a luxurious candy in your life? It may be a bit exaggerated, but it's not an exaggeration. A very beautiful candy shining in gold☆ Thank you very much☆ It was a feast☆

A friend gave me a souvenir from Isshindoh Honpo, which was a delicious snack with a Kabuki-style packaging. It was a wonderful gift with a traditional Japanese atmosphere. In December of 2014, I received the "Nifuku Maneki Ame," a ginger candy made with ginger from Kochi. It brings two kinds of happiness - one from the ginger flavor and the other from making ginger tea. It was highly praised, just like the "Gobou Arare Sen" I received before. I would definitely buy it as a souvenir when I visit Tokyo next time. In September of 2014, I tried the "Sakata Kanpei Gobou Sen," a snack made with burdock mixed into the dough. It had a strong burdock aroma and a delicious sweet and spicy taste. I couldn't stop eating until the bag was empty. Sakata Kanpei is a character from the Edo period known for defeating villains, and the snack's name is related to the dish "Kinpira Gobou," which is named after him.

My mother bought me this souvenir from the Kabuki-za theater! The souvenir shops at Kabuki-za were very crowded, especially the Fochon eclairs which were a hot topic and had long lines. She bought this for me from a stall-like shop on the 2nd floor of the Kabuki-za underground marketplace. It's very convenient to get there from Higashi-Ginza Station (Exit 3). It seems a bit difficult to move from the underground to the upper floors (due to the architectural concept of separating the traditional stage by Kengo Kuma), but the interior remains the same and there are no steps, making it very user-friendly. The souvenirs she got were burdock senbei (\380) and plum candy (\500). The burdock senbei is so delicious that you can't stop eating it. It tastes just like burdock, with a slightly spicy kinpira gobo flavor. My grandmother also liked it. Personally, I would rate it 4.5 stars. It's light with a hint of oil, and the flavor of burdock is really good. I can't stop eating it (lol). The plum candy has a hint of shiso flavor and contains a pickled plum inside. It's a cycle of "sweet -> salty -> sweet -> salty" in your mouth. It's interesting and delicious. The bag design features a famous kyogen, which is fun. The variety of interesting breads and souvenirs seems to be quite extensive, but I was really happy with this as a souvenir (*^^*) It's especially nice because it's related to the Kabuki-za theater!

(6/9/2018) I tried onion senbei and burdock senbei. The packaging design caught my eye, so I decided to write a review even before tasting them. The picture on the package of the onion senbei is of Minamoto no Tametomo, a skilled archer. The description on the package is very informative, summarizing the following: When Tametomo was exiled to Hachijo Island, smallpox did not spread there at all, believed to be because Tametomo defeated the smallpox god. Onions are said to have a unique smell that repels evil spirits and have been offered to gods during rituals and ceremonies. Onions contain "Allicin," which has various health benefits such as increasing vitality. The onion senbei is made by kneading whole onions into the dough and skillfully crafting them into rice crackers. The picture on the package of the burdock senbei is of Sakata Kinpei, the protagonist of the popular play "Kinpei Joruri" during the Edo period. He is the son of Kintaro (Sakata Kintoki). Burdock is rich in dietary fiber and helps regulate the body's internal environment. The burdock senbei is made by kneading whole burdock into the dough. It is delicious, healthy, and satisfying. Additionally, they are available for purchase on the website for 380 yen each (excluding shipping and handling fees) for the onion senbei and burdock senbei.
