On this day, I went to Shibuya after work. My family requested Baumkuchen from Mr. Jichiro as a Valentine's Day return gift, so I decided to buy it. I checked the location of the store on Mr. Jichiro's website and found that there are 5 stores in Shizuoka, 6 stores in Tokyo, 4 stores in Kanagawa, 3 stores in Nagoya, 4 stores in Osaka, 2 stores in Fukuoka, and 1 store each in Sendai, Omiya, Kyoto, and Nishinomiya. In Tokyo, there are stores in Shibuya Scramble Square, Atre Ebisu, Lumine Shinjuku, Roppongi Hills, Kichijoji Parco, and Lumine Tachikawa, and I decided to visit the store in Shibuya which is easy to stop by on my commute route. Recently, Shibuya Station area has been redeveloped, and it is lined with various buildings with katakana letters, making it difficult to distinguish which is which, and the directions to get there are also troublesome. Especially for stores in buildings directly connected to the station, food review websites' maps are completely useless. I checked Shibuya Scramble Square's website and it said in the access guide, "Please exit from the Miyamasuzaka Chuo ticket gate and go left." So I followed that and went from the Hanzomon Line platform to the Miyamasuzaka Chuo ticket gate. After exiting the gate, I went towards exits C1 to C3, and found the entrance to Shibuya Scramble Square on the right just before exit C3. I went up from the underground 2nd floor to the 1st floor on the escalator, and there was Ecute Edition. In the middle of it, there is a space for selling Mr. Jichiro's products. The floor was not very spacious to begin with, and maybe because it was in the evening, or perhaps because it was just before White Day, it was quite crowded, and there were some stores with lines and staff holding a sign saying "End of the line." But fortunately, there was no line at Mr. Jichiro's store, and I was able to buy it immediately. Looking inside the showcase, there were two types of Baumkuchen, whole and half. In addition, there was also a limited edition Butter Cake Lemon that looked delicious, but this time I bought the whole Baumkuchen without looking aside. Then, I presented it to my family as planned on White Day. However, the whole Baumkuchen had quite a volume for one person, so I had a slice that overflowed. The Baumkuchen, with a white sugar-coated surface, had a firm texture with over 30 layers like tree rings when viewed in cross-section. The sweetness was moderate, and it had a rich flavor of eggs, a traditional taste. In addition to whole and half sizes, they also sold individually packaged cut products, so next time, it might be good to buy them as a tea snack for myself. On the way back, I went down to the basement floor and left Shibuya Scramble Square from the entrance/exit I came from earlier, but there was a Shibuya Hikarie direction ticket gate nearby, so I entered the station from there. It is true that the Miyamasuzaka Chuo ticket gate is closer when you go up the stairs of the Hanzomon Line, but if you want to enter Shibuya Scramble Square immediately after exiting the ticket gate, Shibuya Hikarie direction ticket gate is recommended.
