I felt like eating curry udon and searched for it. The curry udon I had was moderately spicy and delicious. The noodles were soft but had a good texture, making it very tasty. The only downside was that the rice was clumpy and seemed like it had been cooked and left for quite some time, which was a bit disappointing. I think it would be even better if this was improved.

I ordered the curry chicken kitsune udon. It had a nice aroma and the curry flavor was strong. The ingredients were delicious. However, the udon was a bit too soft and lacked flavor. Also, I thought it was a bit expensive. I think it would be better if it was a little cheaper.

Ordered the Chicken Curry and Udon for 1150 yen. It's a refined curry udon with a gentle flavor, topped with a soft-boiled egg to mellow out the spiciness. Be careful, as it comes out piping hot. The udon noodles are soft and fluffy. The entrance to the restaurant may be small, but it has a deep interior.

Visited on May 22, 2023, before 1 pm on a Monday. There were 3 other customers and the place was empty. It was a relief to find a place without a line, as most places nearby were crowded with tourists waiting outside. I ordered the meat curry udon. It arrived in about 5 minutes. It was a bit hot outside, but I went for the curry udon since it was recommended. The curry udon was a Kyoto-style dish with a thick, gooey sauce, not too spicy, which was perfect for me. There was plenty of meat in it, so it felt like a good deal. Surprisingly, I would recommend it.

A few minutes' walk from the city bus stop Ginkakuji-michi. There are coin parking lots nearby, but please be careful. Upon entering, you will be seated at a designated table and given a menu while enjoying tea. The staff will then take your order. It is possible to order the curry udon on the sweeter side. The seating was more spacious than expected, with counter seats, tables in the back, a raised platform, and four additional table seats further back. The staff is efficient and friendly, creating a comfortable atmosphere. There may be a wait, as the "Ikazuchi Udon" seems to attract more customers. The ambiance is Kyoto-like, and the aroma of curry udon is the first treat here. The combination of broth and curry stimulates the appetite. I ordered the "Kamatama Curry Kitsune Udon (¥1,150)", which is described as a unique dish that can only be enjoyed here. The surprise was the firm texture of the udon, different from the usual soft round noodles found in curry udon. I personally prefer this firmer texture. I tried both the regular and sweeter curry versions, and found that the sweeter one enhances the flavor of the broth. The rice provided with a coupon is also a great addition. Mixing the curry with rice was delicious. The chicken and green onions in the dish were satisfying. The fried tofu was a standout side ingredient. If you are sightseeing, places like the Philosopher's Path or Ginkakuji Temple are nearby. Walking from Nanzenji Temple to the Incline and taking breaks at cafes along the way could be a nice itinerary. There is also a bakery next door that offers bread shaped like Mt. Daimonji, which could be a unique souvenir.

This is a curry udon restaurant located near the intersection of Imadegawa Street and Shirakawa Street, not far from Ginkaku-ji Temple in Kyoto. It is said to inherit the taste of the famous restaurant Shimizu in Shimogamo. I visited around 11:30 on a Sunday and was seated right away. The restaurant was about 80% full, with more seating in the back reserved for groups. As I looked at the menu, I saw that they not only offer curry udon, but also regular udon and curry dipping udon. The most standard option seemed to be the curry chicken udon. I decided to order the curry chicken udon. After a short wait, the curry udon arrived. The strong aroma of spices and the piping hot temperature were impressive. As I tasted the broth, I was amazed by the delicious curry flavor. The spices were strong and the base broth was rich. The udon noodles were slightly thin and soft, typical of Kyoto-style udon. They paired well with the curry sauce. The crispy fried toppings and the tender chicken added nice textures. Overall, the broth was so tasty that I couldn't help but finish it all. It was a delicious meal that warmed me up from the inside out. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant on my way back from Ginkaku-ji, attracted by the smell of curry since I arrived. It was raining unfortunately, so I entered the shop, placed my folded umbrella in the umbrella stand, sanitized my hands, and sat at a low table in the back of the shop. I looked at the menu and ordered the most popular dish, Curry Chicken and Udon. The Curry Chicken and Udon arrived promptly after ordering. I took a photo first, but it was blurry due to the steam. A sign that it was piping hot. I quickly took a sip of the broth, which was a delicious blend of curry, egg, and dashi. The curry wasn't overpowering, and you could also taste the dashi. I carefully slurped the noodles to avoid splashing the broth, and they were a perfect match with the curry. The chicken pieces were firm and plentiful. I finished the whole dish, making sure not to waste any of the broth, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal. I wish there was a restaurant like this in Kanagawa.

This is a famous restaurant known for its Kyoto-style curry udon. I tried the Kama-tama Niku Curry Kitsune Udon and the limited 20 servings of Gyudon Gobo Curry Tsukemen. The Kama-tama udon has a curry flavor, and the combination of egg and curry creates a gentle taste. The Gyudon Gobo is served separately with a slightly stronger flavor. The udon noodles are thin and soft, typical of Kyoto style. You can also order extra noodles for 150 yen. You can choose the level of spiciness when ordering.

I stopped by this restaurant on my way back from fishing in Shiga. It is located along Shirakawa-Imadegawa Street, heading west from the river. I parked at a coin parking lot along Shirakawa Street after passing by the restaurant initially (200 yen for 40 minutes). I had been curious about their curry udon, so I decided to give it a try. When I arrived around 3 pm, the restaurant was not too crowded but customers were coming and going steadily. I ordered the curry udon with meat and inari sushi, while my husband ordered the curry udon with fried tofu. In short, it was delicious curry udon! It was quite spicy, but just the right level of heat for us. The fried tofu mixed in with the curry udon added a creamy texture that enhanced the flavor with each bite. My husband even said it was the best curry udon he had ever tasted. We both finished every last drop of the soup. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Ordered the set menu with curry udon, tamago-toji, and chicken sweet and sour stir-fry with rice. The tamago-toji was smooth and had an elegant taste. It wasn't spicy, but I started sweating by the time I finished eating, so the dish had enough spices. The restaurant is well-known and has been featured in the past in magazines like Amakara Techo and Leaf.

I went to a curry udon restaurant and had curry beef udon. It was easy to eat. The staff wasn't very friendly. I felt rushed and ended up being pushed out. It wasn't very crowded, but they seemed to want us to leave quickly. The curry udon had a strong curry flavor with a dashi base.

On Thursday at 15:20, I went to Motonaka's "Odayan" in Ginkakuji-michi. It's located at the entrance of the Philosopher's Path, and their signature dish is curry udon. I ordered the "Curry Niku Udon (750 yen)". It arrived in 10 minutes. One bite. Delicious. It has a slight sweetness and a strong spiciness that comes afterwards. The broth is thick and not watery. Just the right amount. Their specialty lies in using thin and soft Kyoto udon noodles, the highest quality dashi used in Gion's ryotei, and Kyoto's famous Kujo negi (green onion). The interior of the restaurant is Japanese-style with wood accents. The lighting made of washi paper has a calming atmosphere with subdued colors. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

When you get close, you can smell the curry... I arrived just before 1 o'clock. Due to the current situation, both the front and back doors were left open, so it was hot. However, undeterred by that, I ordered curry udon and inari sushi. Without hesitation, I asked, "How many inari sushi should I get?" and ordered one. The curry udon and inari sushi arrived on a tray. It was hot! The atmosphere inside the restaurant and the udon were both hot. The tea-like drink was lukewarm. I wish it had been ice-cold. The curry udon had plenty of chicken and was mild with eggs. I got burnt, but I'll come back in winter. The inari sushi was 80 yen. They must be popular since they asked how many I wanted. The parking lot is a 3-minute walk away, where there is a coin parking lot.

If you want curry udon, this is the place to go! They have two types of noodles, so if you go with family, order both types to know your favorite. The noodles used for the kettle-cooked udon are my favorite. The cheese topping is a must. It's incredibly delicious!

After my partner's errands, we had lunch at this place for the first time. It was crowded with hikers from Mt. Oyama. We had to wait a bit before entering. The menu mainly consists of curry dishes, with options like curry tsukemen and curry hot pot. I can't remember the name of the dish we ordered, but it was a curry base with chunks of chicken and a poached egg on top of udon noodles. The poached egg made the curry milder and suitable for all ages. The udon noodles were soft with less chewiness, typical of Kyoto-style udon. It was a delicious curry udon with a rich broth. Thank you for the meal.

Odayan 2020/11/29 KUMA Survey (Daily Use) (80☆Excellent:/60◎Good/50◯Pass/40△Satisfactory) (Taste: 60%: Other 40%) ■ Overall Rating 72/100 points (Taste: 80 points) A shop where you can enjoy excellent curry udon! ■ Overview After finishing a hike in Kyoto's Higashiyama area and coming down the mountain from behind Ginkaku-ji Temple, it was already 2:30 pm and I hadn't eaten lunch, so I decided to drop by a nearby udon shop. The curry chicken and egg udon, which seemed to be a specialty, was recommended, so I ordered it. After waiting for 10 minutes with my body chilled from coming down the mountain, the piping hot curry udon arrived! My impression was "fantastic!" Up until now, curry udon has been like eating curry with udon, but the udon at this shop is a type of food called curry udon without the plus sign, and it was very delicious. The curry and udon were perfectly fused without one overpowering the other, creating an exquisite dish. I highly recommend everyone to try it. Thank you for the meal. □ Ordered Dish/Price/Taste/Cost Performance ◯ Curry Chicken and Egg Udon ¥830/◎/◎ ------------Always Critical Detailed Evaluation----------- ■ Usage Scene Family◯, Couple◯, Solo◯, Banquet-, Business- ■ Shop Atmosphere/Service 50/100 points 10pt (4 points satisfactory, 5 points pass) ◇ Shop Appearance 5/10 points ◇ Interior 6/10 points ◇ Service 4/10 points ◇ Comfort 4/10 points ・Ordering Time○: Set -: Drink○ ・Water○: Wet Towel○ ・Customer Service○: Appearance○ ・Interior○: Cleanliness○, Air Conditioning△ (Cold..) ・Seating Order/Payment at Cash Register ■ Detailed Dish Evaluation 80/100 points 48pt ◯ Curry Chicken and Egg Udon As mentioned in the overview, this is an evolved version of curry udon. I may not have been able to keep up with the evolution as I hadn't eaten curry udon for decades. The curry sauce with closed chicken is excellent, suppressing the dominance of curry and allowing you to enjoy the umami of the broth and chicken. Not too spicy, not too sweet. It was excellent. The udon itself is also carefully made to prevent splashing of the broth, and the chewy texture matches perfectly. Overall, it was a high-quality dish. ■ Cost Evaluation 70/100 points 14pt ◯ According to the Statistical Bureau survey, the average price is ¥590, so this shop, where regular udon is ¥500, is quite cheap. The curry udon is ¥700, so it is reasonably priced.

I didn't quite understand the location, but I noticed a lot of people at the entrance as I passed by, so I searched and found this shop. I heard that their curry udon is popular, so I decided to go in. As a fan of udon and curry, I was torn between all the menu options. Following the recommendation of "popular number ○," I ordered the "Curry Chicken and Egg Udon (700 yen)" and the "Kamatama Curry Kitsune Udon (650 yen)." I also added the weekday limited offer for an extra 250 yen, which came with beef and burdock stir-fry and two pieces of inari sushi. The content seemed to change daily. The curry udon had a strong Kyoto-style broth and was delicious. The noodles were substantial and the curry coated them well. It had a sweet yet spicy bitterness and richness, showing the depth of flavor expected from a popular shop. I was full. The side dish and inari sushi were also delicious. Everything was made with a delicious broth as the base. Next time, I would like to try dishes like oyakodon.
