After the important family member passed away and the cremation was completed, I thought about where to go and ultimately decided that Kisoji is the best choice in this situation. The seating and atmosphere are comfortable, and the service is impeccable, especially when wearing traditional Japanese clothing. Despite the commotion, Kisoji is still the right choice. Probably because of the New Year's atmosphere at the entrance, I thought I could enjoy the seasonal feeling, but it was just normal. They were selling souvenirs. It felt like a fancy version of a family restaurant. There were various options like sukiyaki. Waited a bit at the entrance before being seated. It was crowded with families drinking from lunchtime! The end of the year is really busy! I was seated at a spacious table by myself. It felt quite elegant♫ Now, let's see what's on the special end-of-year menu: - Tsumago: 2420 yen - Sukiyaki set (American beef): 2200 yen - Domestic beef loin: 2750 yen - Wagyu marbled beef: 3850 yen - Premium Wagyu marbled beef: 4180 yen - Naraai: 3630 yen - Hokkai set: 3850 yen I want to have sukiyaki for dinner, and I don't want to miss out on having Hokkai set at the year-end party tonight... so "Tsumago" for 2420 yen seems reasonable♫ Here we go♫ After a while, the tray arrived. It was quite fast. A large tray with sashimi, grilled dishes, individual hot pot, chawanmushi, fried dish, rice, soup, pickles, and dessert. The sashimi was yellowtail and tuna, fresh and delicious. The grilled dishes were Spanish mackerel, lotus root, and rolled omelette. Makes me crave sake♫ I want to drink sake. Just this can go well with 2 cups♫ The chawanmushi was a bit cold but tasty. It would be even better if it was hot. The rice was mixed grain rice, healthy and delicious. I would like to have seconds if possible, but I have a year-end party tonight... can't lose at the party. The individual hot pot was duck and soba noodle hot pot with sides of mushrooms, duck, and soba. As expected from "Kisoji," it's soba♫ The broth was excellent. If they give me rice and egg, I want to make zosui (rice porridge). While sipping the red miso soup, I enjoyed the tempura shrimp. The tempura included shrimp, lotus root, and pumpkin. Lastly, dessert was a matcha sponge cake with sweet red bean paste and whipped cream (didn't hear the name). It felt like enjoying a mini banquet. A rehearsal for the year-end party. It seems to be a limited menu until August 25th, with a luxurious course including Nara-i (tax included 3,300 yen) for appetizer, sashimi, simmered dish, grilled wagyu, chawanmushi, fried dish, rice, soup, pickles, and two types of dessert. There were many lunch menu options that seemed to be generous in portion size, and I had a hard time deciding, but I ended up ordering the sashimi set meal which was on the lighter side. A large tray was brought to me with a variety of sashimi, tempura, chawanmushi, agedashi tofu, miso soup, rice, and pickles. You can choose between white rice or mixed grain rice. Everything was delicious and there was nothing to complain about. The sashimi in particular was very fresh and tasty. The tempura was crispy and freshly fried, and the chawanmushi had a gentle dashi flavor that was comforting. The red miso soup was also flavorful and soothing. Although I was already satisfied with the meal, the ice cream served as dessert was also delicious. You can choose from three flavors: vanilla, matcha, or red bean. I chose the red bean ice cream. While I had green tea during the meal, matcha tea was served with the ice cream for dessert. The combination of matcha tea and red bean ice cream was perfect and enhanced the overall deliciousness. I arrived by bicycle and was worried about scratching the car parked in a strangely narrow parking space. When I took the elevator to the second floor, time passed leisurely. The restaurant was almost full. I ordered the cheapest item from the new autumn menu starting today. The item was called "Kiso" and cost 1500 yen excluding tax. I was satisfied with the taste, portion size, service, and price.

I visited the restaurant after my medical check-up. Even though it was the first day of a 3-day weekend and reservations were full, they were able to accommodate me for just one hour. I ordered a Matsumotodo bento box for my wife and two portions for myself. The meal included tempura, simmered dish, sashimi, meat, chawanmushi, and a choice of sixteen-grain rice or regular white rice. I chose the sixteen-grain rice and it was delicious. The service at Kisoji is always excellent and the staff apologized multiple times for only being able to seat us for an hour. I will definitely visit again if I have the chance.

We visited the Kisoji Kamihonmachi store with our parents and sister's couple. We reserved a private table seat at the restaurant, which has a separate fee for the private room. There is also a sunken hearth in the tatami room. The restaurant has a parking lot, which is convenient for bringing our elderly father who has difficulty walking. They also offer a shuttle bus service. You can access the second floor entrance with an elevator. The 6-person private room is spacious and has two IH stoves on the table, making it easy to cook hot pot wherever you sit. Let's quench our thirst with a highball. We had the course meal which includes shabu-shabu with Japanese beef marbled meat for 4950 yen (tax included). The meal includes appetizers, shabu-shabu (Japanese beef marbled meat and vegetable platter), noodles, mochi (can be changed to Chinese noodles), pickles, and ice cream. The marbled Japanese beef is delicious, especially when dipped in the secret sesame sauce made with peanuts and walnuts. The vegetables are refreshing with ponzu sauce. After finishing the meat and vegetables, the waitress comes to confirm the timing for the next course, which includes a choice between noodles and mochi or Chinese noodles. Since it's Kisoji, we chose the noodles and mochi. The waitress cooks them for us and serves them in a bowl. The thick noodles and chewy mochi are delicious. If you're still hungry, you can have rice with pickles. For dessert, you can choose ice cream. The chestnut ice cream is particularly delicious.
