One day, I met up with a close friend from my school days for drinks. We agreed to meet at a building near Sonezaki Shinchi, which has been operating since March this year as part of a redevelopment project. The building is called "K's Square Building," and on the first floor, there are a highball bar, a karaoke place, and a hormone izakaya. I wondered which place my friend would take me to, but then he led me downstairs. As we descended the stairs of the building, we arrived at a stylish place with a clean and fresh atmosphere. The private rooms had tightly closed doors (although the upper part of the rooms was open, so you could hear the voices of the neighboring guests. Politicians, beware!). My friend and I, being two women with nothing to hide (although it would be nice if we did), raised a toast with beer and plum wine! This time, my friend had reserved the "Premium Course" for us, which included a luxurious seafood full course meal. It consisted of 10 dishes for 5,000 yen, discounted from the original 6,500 yen. It was a coincidence that my friend chose this place, as the opening day of the restaurant coincided with my birthday. I am truly grateful for this gesture. The meal started with a welcome dish of crab with sauce over steamed rice, followed by a smoked duck appetizer with basil sauce. The seafood salad was fresh and satisfying, and the sashimi platter included tuna, salmon, yellowtail, amberjack, sea urchin, and salmon roe. The hotpot dish featured sea urchin, sea bream, and red shrimp in a golden broth, which was rich and flavorful. The tempura dish included deep-fried shrimp and vegetables served with matcha salt. The grilled chicken dish was a unique twist on the traditional Kyoto-style dish, and the simmered red snapper was the highlight of the meal. The dinner ended with a comforting rice porridge and a seasonal sorbet dessert. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to enjoy good food and drinks with my friend.
