RF1 is a Japanese-style deli known for their delicious salads. They have a branch in Gransta as well. A must-try dish here is the sweet and crispy fried tuna or mackerel. Today's special was saury. The celery and shiso salad is also a favorite. The other side dishes are decent, but nothing extraordinary.

I visited a store located on the basement floor of Daimaru Tokyo during the day. I was looking for something not too bulky and easy to eat, so I bought this Hiyamugi noodles with grilled eggplant and aromatic vegetables. It cost around 1,000 yen, and while it was within the expected range of flavors, it was satisfying to be able to buy something easy to eat like this. Thank you for the meal.

The fried saury and tuna are delicious, but for some reason they are not available today. I will buy avocado and island tofu salad instead. Etohan is actually part of the RF1 group. It offers a menu and atmosphere with a Japanese twist on RF1's style.

I purchased taro with shredded sansho pepper and green onion sauce for when I get a little hungry in my hotel room. The taro is soft and fluffy. The spicy taste of the shredded sansho pepper and the green onion sauce go perfectly with the taro. I can satisfy my hunger with this and the fig salad that I have been recently enjoying.

I accidentally wandered into Daimaru while walking from Marunouchi to Yaesu (lol). It was lunchtime, so I decided to buy a bento. There were so many options, but I ended up choosing a healthy bento with tsukune. It was mostly vegetables, which seemed good for my body. Plus, there were a lot of simmered dishes, perfect for me on a business trip. The seasoning wasn't too strong, just right. The amount of rice was also just enough.

【Reason for Visit】I went to the food section of Daimaru looking for tonight's drinking snack. I browsed through several stores and found something that looked delicious.
【Visit Time】October 21st (Sunday) around 11:45 AM

【Ordered Item】Grilled mackerel with sweet and sour sauce
【Reason for Ordering】The mackerel, which is currently in season, looked delicious.
【Eating Impressions】The tempura batter on the mackerel was moist and had a nice texture. However, the flavor and umami of the mackerel were a bit weak, with a slight bitterness lingering in the mouth. The fish was not very fatty, and the flesh was slightly tough and dry. The fried lotus root and yam had a good crunchy texture. The sweet vinegar sauce was mildly sweet and sour, refreshing, and had just the right amount of saltiness. Thank you for the meal, "Itohan"!

I searched for a takeout option at Tokyo Station using Tabelog and visited the Depachika. I was presented with a variety of vegetable salads. After some consideration, I decided to go for the set option, which was not only more cost-effective but also offered a wide variety of vegetables. The Japanese-style salad set provided me with half a day's worth of vegetables, including brown rice rolls, chicken tofu hamburgers, meat miso tofu, hijiki quinoa salad, grilled vegetables, seasoned soft-boiled egg, purple cabbage, edamame mince, cherry tomatoes, carrot kinpira, and broccoli. The healthy and lightly seasoned vegetables made for a satisfying and nutritious meal, leaving me feeling good about my food choices for the day.

This is a shop that specializes in vegetable-rich side dishes. I came here looking for snacks to enjoy on the train. The set of Japanese-style appetizers to enjoy with alcohol costs 1,080 yen.

I often take the Shinkansen for business trips, and I often eat bento boxes during lunch or dinner time on the train. One review of the bento boxes eaten on the Shinkansen is as follows: Before boarding the Shinkansen, I rushed to the Daimaru department store basement to find a companion that I could enjoy wine with on the train. I found a wine companion that resonated with me, called "Fig and Japanese Salad." The combination of figs and chicken with French dressing was not bad. It goes well with both white and red wine. I enjoyed it leisurely.

Depachika, a store specializing in Japanese salads and side dishes operated by Souzai Co., Ltd. Rock Field. Located on the main street of "Hoppe Town" on the 1st floor of Daimaru Tokyo, directly connected to JR Tokyo Station. Today, I purchased the "Fig and Smoked Chicken Japanese Salad for 1,107 yen (205g including tax, 540 yen per 100g)." The fresh and juicy appearance of the ripe figs generously piled on the salad is visually appealing. The sweetness of the figs and the umami of the smoked chicken are combined with a refreshing dressing that enhances the flavors of onions and mustard, resulting in outstanding deliciousness. The price is relatively high due to the generous use of figs, but it is a very compatible combination for a Japanese salad. I am looking for some snacks at Daimaru Tokyo. The first place I visited was "Itohan Daimaru Tokyo Store." I later realized that this store mainly focuses on vegetables. I was surprised to see that there were more vegetables than I expected in the items I purchased. I bought "Roast beef and grilled vegetable with Japanese sauce 100g for 648 yen" and "Hokkaido seared octopus salad with shiso flavor 100g for 594 yen." I asked if I could order 100g each, and they said it was okay. However, both items only had 3 pieces of vegetables each and hardly any meat. The roast beef from the nearby "Paul Bocuse" had much more meat for 542 yen per 100g.

One of the joys of traveling on the Shinkansen is enjoying station bento boxes. Usually, I buy them on the Marunouchi side, but today I bought one at Daimaru because I was shopping there. I chose the "Sakurajima chicken karaage bento box (1080 yen)" from Itohan. In addition to the karaage, it also includes potato salad, spring rolls, and simmered vegetables, all of which look quite delicious. There is also purple shiso furikake on the rice. As for the taste, I think it would have been even more delicious if the karaage was freshly fried. Well, it's a bento box, so I can't complain about that. If it had been priced at less than 1000 yen including tax, I would have thought it was a good buy.

On the way back from Narita in 2013, on the Shinkansen! I bought snacks for dinner. Returning home from Shanghai via Narita, considering the transfer time, but... There was a huge traffic jam at Shanghai Pudong Airport: even though we boarded the plane on time, we had to wait for almost 2 hours in the order of arrival and departure (a unique rule in Shanghai), so we couldn't transfer to a domestic flight and had to travel by land (Narita Express & Shinkansen)... At Tokyo Station, I bought dinner from "Itohan," a traditional-sounding Japanese deli I found in Gransta. I bought snacks: "Sweet and Sour Fried Mackerel" and "Avocado and Okinawan Tofu Salad." I thought it was quite innovative for a traditional place, but then I found out that "Itohan" is actually a brand of Rock Field (the company that also operates RF1). It was a bit confusing... Anyway, I like RF1's Western-style side dishes, and these were also quite delicious, so it's all good. By the way, the company Rock Field has various brands such as "RF1," "Kobe Croquette," "Itohan," "Three-Day Monk," "Vegeteria," "Fusion," "Green Gourmet," and "beOrganic." A little trivia, the name comes from the founder and CEO Hirozo Iwata's surname "Iwata," which was translated as "rock" and "field." The name was inspired by the Rockefeller family when Iwata visited America in his youth. It's similar to Bridgestone: explosive.
