Today, it snowed heavily in Sapporo from the morning and the wind was strong, so it was cold. For lunch, I had a warm Yukgaejang and Kkuppa at a cozy Korean home-cooked meal restaurant. The veteran mother was teaching the young mother how to cook, which was heartwarming to see. Both the Yukgaejang and the Kkuppa were excellent. I also tried the potato pancake this time, which was also delicious.

On May 1, 2022, at 18:20, I revisited this restaurant for the second time with my wife and child after about nine years. The first time I visited was around 2013 when my family of five visited. Earlier this year, while I was enjoying my solo assignment in Fukuoka, I got hooked on a YouTube show called "Miracle Gourmet" from the local TV station's gourmet segment. The episode aired on August 29, 2020, featured this very restaurant. This made me want to visit again after a long time, so I invited my wife to join me. "Soyanho" is named after the largest lake in the hometown of the owner, Mr. Yun Mun-ok from Korea. She met her husband in Osaka when she was 28 years old during a trip, got married, and later, after her husband's company went bankrupt, they visited Hokkaido for a change of scenery. They were moved by the blooming flowers, vibrant air, and the smell of the earth here. They felt that in Hokkaido, they could start over, and with that in mind, they started this restaurant in 1999. The exterior of the restaurant looks like a regular house, and we were guided to the same back room as our first visit. We tried the Korean-style chicken wings (650 yen), which were simmered in spicy miso and were incredibly delicious! They disappeared in an instant. The hormone and tofu stew (750 yen) was not as spicy as it looks. Beef bones are simmered with garlic, leeks, carrots, and apples for eight hours. The soup is poured over chopped and sautéed beef and onions, creating a mellow and deep spicy flavor that envelops the chili peppers. The Yukkejang Kuppa (700 yen) also has a beef bone soup base. The taste at this price point is understandably popular! The Bibimbap (700 yen) tasted just like the real thing. It had been nine years, but the restaurant still offers homely Korean cuisine without any pretense. It was mentioned that their grandchild might inherit the restaurant in the future. I hope they continue to serve delicious Korean cuisine in Sapporo for a long time.

I was interested in the restaurant called Kohkoya Soyambo. It is located in a residential area. I visited when there was a parking spot available. The restaurant is in a normal house. You take off your shoes and put on slippers. The tables or tatami mats are quite spacious. I ordered the Korean Yukkejang Ramen from the menu. It's the taste of the authentic dish. Even though I haven't been to Korea (^_^) I'm curious about other lunch menus too. The Hormone Tofu Stew seems good for a cold day. I bought Napa cabbage kimchi as a souvenir on the way back. It was very delicious. I will visit again.

Visited with my daughter. She has been here a few times before. The parking lot filled up with cars before the opening, so it seems to be a popular spot. It looks like a family-run business in a regular house. You have to take off your shoes before entering. It takes quite a while from ordering to getting the food. I chose the Yukgaejang and seafood pancake from the lunch menu. The Yukgaejang was made with chicken instead of beef for some reason. It lacked flavor, so I resisted the urge to add garlic or gochujang. The rice is free for a large portion, but the soup is monotonous and gets boring. The reviews seem good, but I'm sorry, it didn't win me over. The cleanliness inside the restaurant is lacking. It's not exactly dirty, but hmm. The low prices are a plus.

I visited the restaurant last year at noon, but it was closed due to the state of emergency. This time, I visited as soon as it opened. There was an older lady and her daughter, I think. It was my first time at a Korean food specialty store, and also my first time trying Korean dishes other than stone pot bibimbap. I ordered the lunch menu's pork belly tofu stew. It came with kimchi, bean sprout namul, and Korean seaweed. The stew was not very spicy, but had a very gentle flavor. The kimchi and namul were also delicious. I would like to try the yukgaejang next time.

Located in Higashi-ku, Sapporo, "Kokoyaya Soyannho"! This is my second visit (^^)/ This time, we had a larger group so we were seated in a private room! When I visited before, I tried the "Yukkejang Ramen" and it was delicious, so I decided to order it again without hesitation. We also ordered the "Seafood Jeon" and "Kimchi Jeon"! It was lunchtime and the restaurant was crowded, so the Jeon arrived before the Yukkejang Ramen. The Kimchi Jeon had green chili paste mixed in, but it wasn't too spicy and was delicious. The Seafood Jeon was consistently tasty (*^^)v Just as we finished the Jeon, the Yukkejang Ramen arrived! The taste was just as delicious as last time. Thank you for the meal!

I wanted to eat Korean food, so I visited this restaurant! The exterior looks like a regular house without a sign, but inside, there are table seats and sunken kotatsu-style seats, making it a proper restaurant. The food was all delicious, not too spicy and suitable for children. The potato pancake had grated potatoes in it, giving it a chewy texture and a delicious potato flavor. It may take some time as the mother cooks alone, but I think it's worth waiting while enjoying the complimentary Korean seaweed. I ended up eating and drinking too much because everything was so tasty (laughs). I would like to visit again.

In Sapporo City, Higashi-ku, there is a restaurant called "Kokokuya Soyannho." This time, I visited for the first time because I wanted to try the Yukkejang Ramen! It is dipped in a slightly spicy sauce, which tastes delicious and would go well with beer! No, it definitely goes well with beer! Next was the long-awaited Yukkejang Ramen! It looks like it has a lot of ingredients and is red and spicy. First, I tried the soup... It is based on beef bones and is not too spicy, with a mild flavor enhanced by the beaten egg. Yukkejang Kuppa 700 yen This is a restaurant located in a residential area where you can enjoy authentic Korean cuisine at a reasonable price. Their lunch specials are particularly great, and I have been coming here for over 10 years every time I visit home. While their other menu items are also appealing, I always order the same thing. Perfect for the cold winters in the northern region.

This is a Korean restaurant located near Kita 37-jo Higashi 1-chome street. There are about 4 parking spaces in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is renovated from an old house. When you enter the entrance, you take off your shoes and change into slippers. There is one table seat and three tatami mat seats. The staff are Korean. Lunch is served until 2:00 pm. I ordered the Hormone Tofu Stew for 800 yen, which looks delicious. It comes in a bubbling pot. Since it's Korean cuisine, it also comes with several side dishes. The Hormone Tofu Stew is not as spicy as I thought and quite delicious. You can have extra rice or refills for free. Plus, you get a drink for an additional 100 yen, so lunch is a good deal. It seems to be popular for dinner as well, as they had a reservation call while I was there. I've been a fan of this restaurant for a long time, and recently got in touch with an acquaintance after over 10 years. Unfortunately, there is only one table for customers, so I had to sit at the counter. I ordered the Korean Yukkejang ramen, with the option to adjust the spiciness level. I asked for extra spicy, similar to the spiciness of Szechuan noodles. The soup was mellow and delicious, reminiscent of the taste of New Tantan in Yokohama. I really enjoyed it. I ended up sweating a lot due to the spiciness, but it was worth it. They also mentioned that they have even spicier options available, like super spicy and ultra spicy. When I inquired about the possibility of trying the ultra ultra spicy, they jokingly asked if anyone actually eats that level of spiciness. Well, I have some friends who probably would!

The restaurant is unassuming from the outside, looking like a slightly old regular house with the dining area on the first floor and probably living quarters on the second floor. There are a few parking spaces available on the premises, and once you park your car, the owner greets you from inside. The cooking is handled by a friendly older lady, while the owner, a man, welcomes you with a shy smile. The lunch menu is reasonably priced, ranging from 700 to 800 yen. I ordered the Tofu Stew Set Meal with extra spiciness. Before the main dish arrived, I was served five small side dishes including Korean seaweed, pickled vegetables, kimchi, bean sprout salad, and a small fruit. The Tofu Stew was piping hot and filled with soft tofu, as well as clams, squid, mussels, shrimp, and a small amount of meat. The flavors were homely and delicious. I am curious about their dinner menu as well. Maybe I should take the subway there next time. Thank you for the meal.

I went to have lunch on a weekday afternoon about a year and a half ago. I was looking forward to trying some home-style Korean cuisine. The restaurant was in a house-like building, and inside, there were about 4-5 tables in a tatami room where you had to take off your shoes. I ordered the "Korean-style warm noodles" from the lunch menu. It came with rice and kimchi. The warm noodles were similar to Japanese udon. The kimchi was spicier than the Japanese version, with a strong garlic flavor.
