In the past, my partner used to come around this area often and we would sometimes have cakes here. However, we lost touch and it has been about 20 years since I last visited. I was planning to get a cake, but the prices seemed a bit different from what I remembered, so I ended up buying a few varieties of Dacquoise instead. I chose "Cafe au lait," "Mediterranean Lemon," "Framboise (raspberry)," and "Banane (banana)." The crust was nicely baked, but personally, I found it a bit too sweet. Maybe that's why the "Cafe au lait" lacked the cream flavor. "Mediterranean Lemon" and "Framboise (raspberry)" had a good balance of cream acidity and crust sweetness. In the end, the most delicious one was the "Banane." However, I felt that 310 yen for a Dacquoise was a bit on the expensive side. Cakes were mostly in the 700-800 yen range, is this the norm nowadays? Have prices gone up?

I bought some baked sweets on my way back because I came close to the bakery. The baked sweets here are delicious with just the right amount of sweetness, so I bought a little extra. The sponge cake was also very tasty with a soft texture. It goes well with black coffee. I had a delicious cafe time.

May 3, 2023. It's the first day of the second half of Golden Week. Kyoto is packed with people! It feels like there are a lot of tourists, but the customers buying at this shop seem to be mostly locals. They purchased Mont St. Clair and San Mark. Is it still the last chance to get strawberries? Cakes with strawberries on top are catching my eye. When I got home, I made coffee with my wife and tried the cakes. Mont St. Clair offers three different types of cakes, so it's pretty good! It's an old-fashioned cake shop, but their classic cakes are just delicious.

I tried various cakes at Sanmark. There were layers of nuts, chocolate, caramelized top, and other sweets stacked on top of each other. It tasted like the cakes I ate when I was a child, with a nostalgic and simple flavor. It was sweet but not too rich, making it easy to eat bite after bite. Thank you for the meal!

After visiting the botanical garden, I casually dropped by a cake shop. It's small and located in Kitayama, but once inside, there were all kinds of delicious-looking cakes. There were so many options that I had a hard time deciding. Since I love cherry blossoms, I chose the limited edition cherry blossom mousse. It had a strong cherry blossom flavor, and as I continued eating, I found cherry blossom mochi and red beans inside! Under the mousse was a matcha cake, then a tart that was firm and moist, all coated in white chocolate. The more I ate, the more delicious it became, and it was an exciting cake to enjoy. They are also famous for their dacquoise, with nearly 10 different flavors available in addition to the cakes in the showcase. They are round and easy to eat, with a fluffy dacquoise base filled with smooth buttercream. I tried the cherry blossom and praline flavors, and each dacquoise was filled with surprises! I'm sure the other cakes also have surprises and are delicious. I will definitely stop by again.

I visited "Clermontel" in Kitaoji, Kyoto. It is a popular patisserie where I enjoyed a delicious lunch at Middle, a French restaurant, and then tried their signature product, the dacquoise made with almond flour. It was light and crispy, filled with various flavors like chocolate, pistachio, strawberry, Mediterranean lemon, Uji Tawara-produced matcha, banana, and more. The high-quality cakes displayed in the showcase were also very tempting, so I definitely want to try them on my next visit. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Duck Wars offers a variety of enjoyable options, visually appealing dishes, and delicious flavors. There are many different flavors to choose from, making it fun to mix and match. Each dish has its own unique deliciousness. The prices are reasonable, making it a great option for souvenirs. Personally, I often give Duck Wars as gifts to others.

I came to Kitayama Station after a long time to participate in a real mystery solving game being held until the end of April. I managed to clear the mystery within 2 hours. It was fun as I could learn history and get some exercise. During the mystery solving, I visited Patisserie Clair Entail. It is located a few minutes walk east from Kitayama Station on Kitayama Street. The green Western-style building is easy to spot. By the way, Clair Entail means "valued customer" in French. I chose a cake from the showcase on the first floor and enjoyed it in the eat-in space on the second floor. I had a pistachio cake, which was delicious and just the right size.

The cake that seemed like a conventional shortcake was actually not called a shortcake, but it was very subtly sweet. The Gateau Chocolat was rich in chocolate flavor and delicious! However, the price was a bit higher compared to other stores... This cake cost 960 yen.

Wednesday 18:12 to Cleantail-san. I had some business at the Kyoto Concert Hall and rushed to Kitayama after work. I also picked up the cake I had been eyeing here. Since my husband is on a business trip and not at home, I got three pieces. Terrace 680 yen, Chocolatier 700 yen, Strawberry Farm 650 yen. The recommended ones were the chocolate and strawberry ones, so I chose the ones that caught my eye. I had the Terrace, which had a vivid green color inside that reminded me of strawberries. It was very beautiful, and I was mesmerized for a while. The visual presentation is quite original, but when I tasted it, it was more ordinary than I expected. It didn't quite match what I had in mind, but the cake with stunning beauty was quite impressive. I will visit again. Thank you for the meal.

I was looking for a cafe in Kitayama and came across a cake shop with a cafe. I tried the Montpellier set, which included 3 different types of cakes, for a little luxurious tea time. The cakes were small and light, each with its own unique flavor. I finished them all in no time. The dacquoise and other cakes also looked delicious and caught my interest. I would definitely stop by this shop again when I'm nearby.

The atmosphere of the traditional cake shop was reminiscent of the past. The showcase of the small shop was filled with more than 10 flavors of dacquoise, which made a strong impression! They also had gift boxes and assortments of 10 flavors, making them perfect for souvenirs. The light texture of the cake had a crispy almond flavor, which was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I ordered a cake set for 1050 yen. These days, this price seems to be on the cheaper side. I miss the times when the standard price was around 750-800 yen. However, in the Reiwa era, this price is still reasonable. I ended up choosing the Chocolatier cake after debating between that and the Savarin. The cake was well-made all the way to the bottom, satisfying and delicious. I'd like to try the Savarin next time I visit. Thank you for the meal.

I saw this Mont Blanc in a magazine and it looked delicious, so I bookmarked it. It was supposed to be available until February, and I happened to have a reason to go in that direction, so I stopped by. It has the atmosphere of an old-fashioned town cake shop, but with a hint of French sophistication. I first looked at the cakes in the showcase on the first floor, then decided on one and went up to the second floor café. I thought the prices of the cakes were a bit high. Even though it's not in the city center, the prices are quite strong. The prices were around 580 yen to 660 yen, and honestly, I thought they could be about 100 yen cheaper. However, when you order a cake set, the price suddenly becomes more reasonable, so I thought it was better value to eat in than to take out. In the eat-in set, you get three small baked sweets and a drink for 980 yen. I chose Darjeeling tea, which came in a cup. It was neither good nor bad. My companion had coffee, which he said was delicious. The Mont Blanc, called Japone, uses Japanese chestnuts and costs 660 yen, probably including tax. The base was tart dough and a bit hard, but the inside was crispy with meringue, and the amount of whipped cream was not too much, so the texture was light, and the chestnut paste was delicious. My companion ordered Fromage, a cheese mousse, for 580 yen, probably including tax. The base was also tart dough and a bit hard, but the mousse part was delicious. It was a sunny Tuesday, just after the New Year holiday, and the atmosphere was relaxed, but the café on the second floor was quite busy with students and others. I thought it was a nice cake café to have tea when I'm in the area. On the way back, I bought cream-filled cream puffs as a souvenir. They have a shelf life of three days. They have a good volume compared to macarons, so they are satisfying and a good deal. Raspberry - 200 yen, Almond Praline - 220 yen, Mediterranean Lemon - 200 yen. They were all delicious, but I especially liked the Almond Praline. I would like to try other varieties as well. (*^^*)

☀️Dacquoise is a popular pastry, but here they are called "Cream Dacquois!" There are 13 different types of Dacquois displayed in the shop window. They have a lovely round shape with cream sandwiched in the middle and come in various flavors such as pistachio, almond, praline, banana, strawberry, lemon, orange, chocolate, double chocolate, double strawberry, matcha, caramel, cafe au lait, and raspberry. Both options look delicious! The shop refers to them as "Cream Dacquois." They also offer a simple version of the pastry. For gifts or souvenirs, they have boxes available for five or ten pieces. Priced at around 200 yen and up, the Dacquois are made with crispy and fluffy almond flour, filled with rich cream. When you bite into it, you first enjoy the texture of almond flour or nuts, followed by the fluffy mouthfeel, and then the rich cream. I chose the beautiful pistachio, followed by praline, and finally, I couldn't resist the banana flavor. The "Banane" has banana paste with chocolate chips, creating a harmonious blend. The "Pistache" has a beautiful green color and a smooth texture. The "Amande Praline" has a crispy cream exterior with a gentle almond flavor inside. The "Double Chocolate" and "Double Strawberry" have chocolate added on top. All the flavors, including the fruity ones, have an elegant mouthfeel and provide a satisfying experience. I have never seen such wonderful Dacquois in other shops in Kyoto. They are soft and fluffy inside and out! People visit here specifically for these pastries. The only dilemma is choosing which cream flavor to try. While I want to try them all, I have to be careful not to consume too much sugar. They go perfectly with a warm afternoon cup of tea, perhaps a Ceylon tea in my favorite Wedgwood cup. Visiting until 8:30 PM for dine-in on the second floor, until 6:00 PM.

I visited the shop on Saturday evening. The shop is located between Kitayama Station and Matsugasaki Station on the south side of Kitayama Street, closer to Matsugasaki Station. The atmosphere inside the stylish and cute shop is quite spacious and relaxing. I usually come to buy Duck Wars, but today I came to look for a different cake. I purchased an Orangette Chocolate cake. Orangette Chocolate is a cake with orange peel simmered on top of a chocolate cake, with a mild sweetness, a hint of bitterness from the chocolate, a smooth richness, and the acidity of the orange peel adding depth to the flavor.

While taking a walk near Kitayama, I came across a lovely cake shop and decided to stop by to get some cakes to go. They were not too sweet and had a refreshing taste, which I really enjoyed.
