I visited "Salon Tamago to Watashi" at Takashimaya for the first time after 3 pm on a regular day. The interior of the place seemed a bit more upscale compared to other "Tamago to Watashi" outlets, with a cafe-like vibe similar to Cafe Renoir. The large sofas and spacious seating arrangements added to the upscale feel. When I was seated, a staff member asked me a strange question, "Are you worried about Corona allergies?" I was puzzled by this question but answered "yes." Looking at the menu, I noticed that the set menu with omurice, dessert, and salad seemed like a better deal than ordering individual items. So, I ordered the "Souffle Omurice Plate for 1,580 yen." I had to choose between "Beef Stew" or "Shrimp and Mozzarella in Tomato Cream" for the omurice, and between "Castella Pancake" or "Rich Egg Creme Brulee" for dessert. I chose the Tomato Cream omurice and Castella Pancake. After ordering, I looked around the restaurant and noticed that there were not many places in Takashimaya where you could have tea time, so despite the awkward timing during the pandemic, about 80% of the seats were taken. The dessert set for tea time seemed popular. After about 20 minutes, the plate was finally served. The visual presentation was exciting, but when I tried the tomato sauce, it was lukewarm. The eggs and chicken rice were also not warm at all, everything was at room temperature. I was expecting something hot like Rakel's omurice, so it was a bit disappointing. However, the eggs were completely different from regular omurice eggs. They were not fluffy but had a strange texture like mousse or meringue. Next, I tried the salad, but it had no dressing. The white liquid placed next to the pancake turned out to be the dressing, but I wish the staff had explained this when serving. The amount of salad was also disappointing. Despite the decreasing excitement, the small water glass made it difficult to call the staff for more water. The staff stayed at the counter and did not notice when I tried to get their attention, so I had to resort to calling out to them, which was uncomfortable. In the end, I gave up asking for more water. The lack of a call button on the table and the unresponsive staff made the service disappointing. Although the restaurant was not very large and had a simple layout, making it easy for staff to serve, the lack of attention to customers was a letdown. After finishing the omurice, I moved on to the pancake with syrup. The outside was crispy, and the inside was moist. However, despite the taste being good, the portion size did not justify the price of 860 yen for a single item, in my opinion. Overall, considering the initial high expectations, the lukewarm food, and the lackluster service, I feel that the 1,580 yen for the plate was overpriced. I don't think I will visit this place again.
