Pom no Ki, a slightly upscale restaurant that opened on the 11th floor of Tobu Restaurant Street Spice in Ikebukuro, has been open for almost a month now. I finally felt like having omurice, so I decided to stop by. The restaurant is located in the space where the dining restaurant "TOSHI STYLE," produced by Toshihiko Yoritsuka, used to be. Like the previous restaurant, about half of the restaurant is designed like an indoor terrace with no walls. The "Kagoshima Myth Pork Cutlet Hayashi Omurice Set A" (2,200 yen) was ordered. The A set comes with a "whole tomato" and a "drink." First, the "whole tomato" is served, topped with a tartar-like sauce and a base of sea chicken sauce. It was sweeter and colder than it looked, and quite delicious. The drink is chosen by the customer, and I chose a raspberry soda(?), which was a mix-and-drink type. At first, the sweetness of the raspberry sauce(?) was overwhelming, but after mixing it, it was enjoyable. Then came the omurice. I unintentionally started eating it like curry cutlet, but the taste was dominated by the hayashi sauce and cutlet throughout. When I focused on just the omurice part, it had a light and fluffy texture with a delicious taste of egg and mushroom-flavored rice, but it was meant to be eaten with the hayashi sauce, not ketchup rice. The pork cutlet was quite delicious, with a cut centered on lean meat and a deep flavor despite the low fat content. The hayashi sauce had a rich demi-glace-like flavor. Overall, it was slightly expensive, but I thought it was delicious. "Pom no Ki" itself is not well known to me, so I can't speak about it, but as a concept of the restaurant, it seems to be the first store of a new brand that uses high-quality ingredients. They offer omurice with ingredients such as lobster and beef fillet, with some priced close to 3,000 yen. It may seem expensive for just omurice, but if you consider it as a one-plate dish with high-quality ingredients, it might make sense. Personally, I am aiming for the "Mentaiko Omurice" next time.
