In late January, on a holiday, I visited Namba after a long time. The holiday atmosphere was back, with both locals and tourists from overseas adding to the lively scene. I decided to have lunch on Namba Nankai Street. That's where I noticed a restaurant called "Goukai Tachizushi". Lately, I seem to be drawn to seafood dishes, perhaps due to my age. The lunch menu displayed outside the restaurant caught my eye, especially the recommended menu with photos. Additionally, the lantern hanging above the entrance along with the menu caught my attention. When I entered the restaurant, it was packed due to the lunchtime rush. I was prepared to wait, but the staff informed me that there was a second branch nearby on Namba Sen'nichimae Street with available seats. Reluctantly, I made my way to the second branch, which had a similar lantern hanging outside. The menu and atmosphere were the same. Inside, surprisingly, there were plenty of empty seats. I took a seat at the counter and ordered the "Nama Set (1,000 yen)", which included a draft beer and 5 pieces of sushi. Feeling adventurous, I also ordered the "Uni Ikura Kobore Mori (1,980 yen)". I patiently waited at the counter. First, the Nama Set arrived. The beer was a refreshing Pilsner. The sushi included shrimp, sea bream, salmon, yellowtail, and tuna. Although the pieces were slightly small, they were thick and fresh, and I had no complaints about the taste. Next came the Uni Ikura Kobore Mori. While there seemed to be less ikura spilling over compared to the menu photo, there was a generous amount of uni. It was a luxurious dish with kappa maki as the base, topped with uni and ikura. I carefully savored the delicate balance of flavors. Delicious! It's not every day you get to enjoy this much uni. I had uni in Rebun and Rishiri last July, but this was equally delicious and satisfying. Of course, the lunch was on the pricier side, but the satisfaction was worth it. The lunch menu offered good value, and it's no wonder the first branch was thriving. Thank you for the meal. Oh, and despite the name "Tachizushi" (standing sushi), the restaurant had chairs for all customers.
