In April of the 5th year of Reiwa, when it comes to Fukusaya, it is famous as a long-established castella shop, and is said to be the originator of Nagasaki castella. It was founded in 1624 (Kanei 1). They have registered the trademark "Castella Honke". In the Meiji era, the 12th generation, Seitaro, created the "Gosan-yaki Castella" by increasing the amount of eggs and sugar and reducing the amount of flour. When comparing the delicious castella from Fukusaya, Bunmeido, and Urokoan, I have concluded that "Fukusaya is the best for castella". Among Fukusaya's offerings, the Gosan-yaki is by far the best, followed by Fukusaya's regular castella. When comparing within Fukusaya, the Gosan-yaki is smaller, moister, and richer in flavor. This time, I purchased a set of two Gosan-yaki castellas. The price is 6696 yen (tax included) for two Gosan-yaki castellas. The color of the bottom varies depending on the baking, and recently, it tends to be lighter in color. The texture of the bottom layer is unique, and it seems that the amount of texture has increased recently. The price has increased by 864 yen from 5832 yen about six months ago. ★4.2←4.

I tried castella and Dutch cake. The castella was dense yet fluffy, with a simple taste that really brings out the egg flavor. It had a classic castella taste with a nice layer of caramelized sugar on the bottom. The Dutch cake was more like a chocolate cake, with a delicious mix of walnut fragrance and refreshing raisins. Personally, I prefer the simple castella. The traditional castella had a simple and nostalgic taste.

There is a Fukusaya store famous for Hakata souvenirs on the B2 floor of Ginza Mitsukoshi. I bought their Cube Castella, which is one bite-sized Castella individually wrapped in a pack of 10 for 2,800 yen. It's perfect as a gift, so I highly recommend it. Thank you for the delicious treat.

Fukusaya is famous as a long-established castella (sponge cake) shop, known as the originator of Nagasaki castella. Established in 1624. They have trademarked "Castella Honke" (Castella Main House). In the Meiji era, the 12th generation, Seitaro, created the "Goso-yaki Castella" by increasing the amount of eggs and sugar, and reducing the amount of flour. When comparing castella from Fukusaya, Bunmeido, and Karukan-an, I concluded that "Fukusaya is the best castella." Fukusaya's Goso-yaki was the clear winner, followed by Fukusaya's regular castella. Among Fukusaya's offerings, the Goso-yaki is smaller, moister, and richer in flavor. This time, I purchased a set of two Goso-yaki castella. The bottom color varies depending on the baking, with lighter colors being more common recently. The texture of the bottom's caramelized sugar is unique and seems to have increased recently. I arranged the castella with the bottom facing up to show the caramelized sugar.

This is my favorite Castella cake! The expiration date is short, but it doesn't contain any unnecessary preservatives, and it has a golden color with a rich egg flavor that tastes delicious. While the individually wrapped ones are convenient, I feel like the whole cake tastes better. It's probably the same flavor, but it might be just a matter of preference. I also recommend the Dutch cake, which is Castella cake with cocoa and raisins.

Recently, when sitting at my company's desk, I receive various things (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑ I'm working hard, but I wonder if I look like I want to eat something~ "I received this, but I don't like castella..." What, it's a castella from Fukusaya's Nagasaki main store being passed around, when I looked it up it's almost 3000 yen ( ´•д•` ;) I can't believe such an expensive item is being shared, what a day (๑•̀ •́)و✧ Thank you!!
● Special Goso-yaki Castella 2916 yen
I've bought Fukusaya as a souvenir for returning to Fukuoka in the past, but it's expensive so I've only had the cube type before... We'll eat this whole one as a family. The packaging exudes luxury, the box looks expensive too, it's like overprotective packaging (≧∇≦) Opening various layers to reach the castella... and there it is, a luxurious castella. "The sweetness of the Zarami and the fluffy castella~(*´∀`)" The whole family is delighted, from adults to children... Eating a whole one like this is like a faraway dream for us commoners (๑'ڡ'๑)୨ It seems there are people who abandon Fukusaya's castella (laughs) We enjoyed it very much, thank you for the feast~♪【Tabelog】☆3.07

Fukusaya in Ginza offers Castella cakes in individual packaging, each with a different colored wrapper which is cute! The Castella cakes are carefully wrapped and come with a simple fork. The yellow color of the Castella is beautiful~! It is moist, fluffy, and delicious!!! The Castella also has a nice crunchy texture from the sugar on top. Although it comes with a fork, it was a bit difficult to cut, so I ended up eating it with my hands (^◇^;)

When you feel like having a lot to eat, Fukusaya Cube is the perfect choice. They have a variety of colorful packaging, including a new design with Mitsukoshi wrapping paper. Each package contains two pieces of the same thing. They may have gotten a little smaller, but they are still delicious. In these times, they no longer provide forks, but they give you the product in a free plastic bag, which is very much appreciated.

When it comes to castella, it has to be Fukusaya. I often use it as a souvenir, but sometimes I feel like eating it myself. At those times, I prefer the cube size. The moistness and the sugar grains stuck to the paper are the same, but I still think the whole cake is more delicious.

First visit 20160416
The other day, I wrote a review of the special selection Go-San-Yaki Castella from Fukusaya Shinjuku Isetan store. My partner really liked the bottom part of the Castella (the caramelized sugar?). So, we decided to try the regular Castella as well (laughs).
Small piece 1 (100×280×64mm) for 1890 yen. The special selection Go-San-Yaki Castella from the other day (96×285×66mm) was 2916 yen, with almost the same volume, but the price difference was quite significant. Before tasting it, I was wondering why the prices were so different. However, after trying it, the flavor of the eggs was strong, and it made sense (laughs). From now on, I will purchase the Go-San-Yaki Castella!!!
Although we tended to prefer Bunmeido, we will now become Fukusaya fans (laughs). Thank you for the meal.

This is a gift from a beloved customer! It's from "Fukusaya," the home of castella in Nagasaki. It comes in a colorful box with four pieces inside. When you open it, you'll find fluffy castella halves wrapped in Japanese paper. Each piece comes with a fork-like utensil for easy eating. At the bottom, there's a paper with transparent sugar candies for a nice touch. It's a delicious castella made from eggs, a specialty of Nagasaki, and it was quite a delightful taste experience.

I received a castella cake from "Fukusaya," a long-established Nagasaki castella shop. Founded in 1624, this shop has expanded to many prefectures. They are known for their fluffy texture achieved by their dedication to using eggs, and their castella has a characteristic bottom with a layer of caramelized sugar. Thank you for the meal!

Established in the first year of Kan'ei (1624), Fukusaya's Castella is a traditional Japanese sponge cake handcrafted by skilled artisans. One favorite item is the Fukusaya Cube, priced at 270 yen each. The cute, colorful square box contains individually wrapped Castella pieces. When opened, you will find a foldable fork and the Castella, which emits a gentle aroma of eggs and honey. The texture is light and moist, with a refined sweetness. The crunchy caramelized sugar at the bottom is also delicious and adds to the overall enjoyment.

Fukusaya's Castella Cube is a basic castella cake that is familiar to Fukusaya, but what stands out is the excellent packaging and wrapping.
- The cube shape and colorful design make it look cute.
- The box is easy to open with a tear-off tab (similar to a Pocky box).
- It comes with a foldable fork inside.
- The castella cake has pre-cut slices for easy eating.
With all these thoughtful touches, it's perfect for sharing at work or other places. The recipient can easily enjoy it without needing to take it home first. This is definitely something worth trying!

(15'03) A gift from my wife. She didn't even give me a chance to take a photo before eagerly opening the box. The egg flavor is rich, sweet, and delicious.
(11'01) Second New Year's gift. My son bought a castella cake because he knows my wife loves it. It's such a thoughtful gesture from him. I can't believe he's my own child sometimes. Is it thanks to my wife? Before we got married, he was quite hopeless. Or maybe he just wanted to eat it himself? Fukusaya's castella cake has a generous amount of sugar crystals at the bottom, giving it a satisfying crunch when you bite into it. The moist and dense cake releases a rich aroma of eggs and a gentle, flavorful sweetness in your mouth. Even if it wasn't for my wife, I would still be delighted. Originally from Portugal or Spain, castella cake has now become a quintessential Japanese flavor. High-quality castella brings happiness. The cheap ones are no good, dry and lacking in fragrance, richness, and umami. Sometimes I'm tempted to buy the castella cake scraps sold at the department store in Tsukuba, thinking that the quality must be good since it's a department store, but I always end up regretting it (according to my wife). The texture is not very fine. If we're talking about fine texture, lightness, and softness, a sponge cake from a roll cake is better. I prefer the moist and dense texture over fluffy. But maybe a finer texture is better. Dutch cake, a cocoa-flavored castella cake, topped with raisins and walnuts, adds a slightly bitter cocoa flavor to the sweet and sourness, aroma, and crunch. It's not as moist as traditional castella cake.

Yesterday, I received a gift from a guest who came from Tokyo. It was a castella from "Fukusaya" in a colorful package. The product is called "Fukusaya Cube" and it comes in square packages with two pieces each, along with a small plastic knife for each piece. The castella was delicious and easy to eat. I personally love Fukusaya's castella because it has sugar crystals on the bottom. Eating delicious food like this makes me happy. It seems like the taste of traditional restaurants like Fukusaya remains the same yet subtly changes over time, which is why they have been around for so long. But, I'm used to seeing large castella cakes, so maybe this is also a sign of changing times (laughs).

After finishing a meeting and returning to my office desk, I found a box from Mitsukoshi department store waiting for me. I immediately knew it must be food from the sender's name. I opened it to find Fukusaya castella cakes! I was so happy since I couldn't get any cake on the summer boat party the other day. There were 10 cakes in total. I shared one with my office assistant and planned to share the rest with the women in the project I'm working on. But wait, there are only 9 women? Oh no, all 10 cakes are gone now. Looks like I won't be able to eat any... I couldn't even take a picture of the inside, so I only have a photo of the box. I can't provide a taste review either. Sorry about that. As long as the women enjoyed it and it brought joy to the men around, I'm happy... even if I couldn't eat any. They look so delicious... ===========

(Prologue... Thank you for the farewell) In my workplace, there are quite a few sons of successors, so there are cases where they have to retire due to family circumstances, regardless of their own intentions. A promising guy at my workplace had to return to his hometown due to family reasons. Despite our efforts to find a solution, the situation did not improve. We reluctantly agreed to his resignation. It's disappointing. On his last day, he went all the way to Mitsukoshi in Ginza and bought Fukusaya's castella for everyone at the workplace. While handing out the sweets, he received words of encouragement from everyone and shed tears. He really did a great job. Thank you very much. (It felt like crying too) Castella is famous for Kimurado in Tokyo (thanks to commercials), but in Nagasaki, this shop is more famous. According to a subordinate who worked in Nagasaki, this shop was established in 1624. They have been making castella since the time of the Edo Shogunate. I usually eat at the workplace, but I decided to eat at home this time because I feel like I might cry in front of my subordinates. I opened the yellow box and unwrapped the castella wrapped in paper. It was cut into two pieces for easy eating. I ate it with a plastic fork that came with it. What a thoughtful castella. It's a thoughtful gesture typical of his excellent work. As I ate the sweet castella, it somehow turned a bit salty, thinking about him who left the workplace so refreshingly. (Conclusion... Ideal as a gift for the workplace) This castella is already divided into small portions, making it a great choice for a snack to bring to the workplace. It's quite thoughtful. However, every time I see this castella, it reminds me of him who left so cheerfully. I hope he will thrive and be active in his hometown.

On June 22, 2011 at 6:00 PM, I received a cute souvenir in a lovely paper bag from neco5-san. Inside the cute paper bag were mini castella cakes and cookies from Fukusaya. I enjoyed them at home later. The castella cake is 4.5cm wide, 5cm tall, and weighs 55g, more like a two-bite size. It is made using traditional methods with flour, eggs, sugar, and syrup. It has a fluffy and moist texture with a hint of egg flavor. The refined and moderate sweetness comes from using syrup in addition to sugar. I give it a rating of ★★★★. It has been about 5 years since I last had Fukusaya's castella, which I purchased at their main store in Nagasaki. I still think their castella, along with Matsunagaen in Nagasaki, are the two great masters of castella. Thank you neco5-san for the delicious castella m(_ _)m
