We went to have lunch together, but the menu only had set meals for lunch. However, they offered to lower the price by removing the rice and miso soup from the set meals, which we appreciated. The tonkatsu was particularly delicious with tender meat. The fried horse mackerel would be even better if it were a bit larger. The hamburger was easy to eat and not too greasy. The chicken nanban was above average. We enjoyed seven glasses of draft beer with these dishes. Thank you for the meal. We will visit again for dinner next time.

Service lunch combination of Kiss Fry and sliced Helre cutlet for 880 yen on weekdays. The restaurant is busy during lunchtime. The small Helre cutlet is easy to eat as it is not too heavy. Nowadays, it's rare to find a place where you can have a cutlet set meal for 880 yen in this area.

At Oofuji Horie store, I had lunch at a place called Oofuji, which seems to be an independent restaurant rather than a chain. I ordered the pork miso soup set, which included miso soup and fillet pork cutlet for 880 yen (tax included). The fillet pork cutlet was more like the cutlets at a Western-style restaurant than the traditional tonkatsu. It was thick and came with pickled radish on the table.

Menu ordered: Pork cutlet set with demi-glace sauce for 880 yen. Set meal for 280 yen.
This is an old-fashioned Western-style restaurant located in Kitahorie. The interior has spacious table seating, giving off a nostalgic atmosphere.
I ordered the pork cutlet set. It arrived in about 5 minutes.
The pork cutlet came with plenty of special demi-glace sauce, with two pieces of crispy tonkatsu covered in a tanuki-colored crunchy coating that had a fragrant aroma of oil. The meat was thinly sliced, moist, and tender.
The demi-glace sauce had a rich and fruity sweetness that was characteristic! It went really well with the mustard, and eating it with the mustard made the rice go down so smoothly! The rice was firm and had a fluffy texture.
I sometimes feel like visiting this kind of nostalgic Showa-era Western-style restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Hmm... I wonder what tonkatsu that can be cut with chopsticks without tasting like meat is all about? The sauce was already poured generously from the beginning, but it didn't suit my taste. I thought it was nice of them to ask if I wanted warm or cold tea first, but even though there were three waitstaff available, they completely ignored me when my tea ran out. Excuse me, can I have some more tea? When I asked, they reluctantly gave me some. And to top it off, the miso soup turned out to be instant, which was a surprise. It's just not my cup of tea. Personally, I won't be coming back next time.

Today, I had some errands in Horie and passed by a tonkatsu restaurant called Oofuji that I remembered from 20 years ago. I recalled that their pork soup was delicious, so I decided to revisit. Despite it being 1:30 pm on a weekday, the restaurant was full, so I had to wait for about 5 minutes before getting a table. I originally came for tonkatsu and pork soup, but when I saw "katsu soup" written on the whiteboard inside, I changed my mind and ordered "grated tonkatsu with katsu soup." Before I knew it, the tonkatsu that arrived looked just like the one from my memories! It felt like a time slip as I took my first bite - crispy, juicy, and delicious, just like 20 years ago! The katsu soup was thick and smelled of traditional Japanese sake, perfect for warming up my chilled body. The nostalgic feeling quickly disappeared as I finished my meal. Oofuji is a long-standing tonkatsu restaurant with affordable prices and friendly service. Thank you for the meal!

I always use takeout at night prices. The lunch set has a unique demiglace sauce, miso soup, rice, and cabbage - it's the best! And it's cheap! Recently, I've been into the thick, low-temperature cooking trend, but the old-fashioned tonkatsu here is also delicious. The attentive lady often refills your tea even during lunchtime. You can also use PayPay for payment.

A friend introduced me to this restaurant, and I visited it. The chef's voice is clear, and the service was very kind, making the meal very enjoyable! I had lunch and ordered a set. The meat was tender and delicious for only 880 yen! I would love to visit again when I am nearby. It was a very satisfying restaurant experience!

I visited the DaifujiboriEbisucho store for the first time recently. I had a lot of meetings in Horie and Yotsubashi, so I was curious about this tonkatsu restaurant for lunch. It was after 1 pm, but it was crowded!! Everyone seemed to be there for the lunch special, which was only 880 yen including tax! I also ordered the same and enjoyed two different types of delicious tonkatsu. It's a nice, old-fashioned tonkatsu restaurant that I would be happy to have nearby. Thank you for the meal!

It's lunchtime at Yotsuhashi. I searched for nearby restaurants and found this popular tonkatsu restaurant. I arrived around 11 am and the place was almost full. I was seated at the counter near the kitchen. I ordered the service lunch (shrimp fry and hirekatsu) for 880 yen. It arrived in about 10 minutes and included rice, miso soup, main dish (3 hirekatsu, 2 shrimp fry, cabbage, pasta), and grated daikon with sauce. The shrimp fry was thin but crispy, with a good shrimp aroma. The hirekatsu was topped with shredded seaweed and eaten with the daikon sauce. It was very tender and had a good balance of flavors. The only downside was overhearing the head chef scolding the kitchen staff, which was off-putting. However, the other staff were polite and the overall experience was enjoyable. Thank you for the meal.

Located right near Yotsubashi Subway Station, on the north side of Horie Park! A traditional Japanese diner! I recommend the lunch set with miso soup and pork cutlet for ¥880!! The miso soup is perfect for the upcoming season! The pork cutlet is surprisingly tender!! It's great to eat it with a sprinkle of Japanese mustard! It was delicious!! Thank you for the meal!!

Today I came to "Otofuji Horie Store"! This place has been around since I moved to the Horie area, so I think it's quite a long-established restaurant! It was lunchtime and there were a lot of customers! The lunch was delicious as always and had a good portion size! They also serve dinner, so it's good for those who want to eat quickly!

Today's lunch was decided here because I wanted to eat tonkatsu! Next to a shaved ice shop that I often visit, I had always thought of trying this place someday. I was surprised when I entered for the first time to find that the lighting inside was quite dim! Not in a bad way, but it felt like I had stepped away from the hustle and bustle of the city into a calm and relaxing space (laughs). I arrived about 30 minutes before the opening at 11 am, and there were already two other customers inside. The recommended lunch was the tonjiru (pork miso soup) and hirekatsu (pork cutlet) set for 880 yen. The pickles on the table were all-you-can-eat! The hire (pork) cutlet had a light coating and the meat was very tender and easy to eat. The mustard on the side complemented the sauce on the hire perfectly! The tonjiru was packed with ingredients like daikon radish, thick fried tofu, carrots, taro, and more. It felt more like a kenchin soup than tonjiru, but it was delicious nonetheless. I was very satisfied with the meal considering the price, so I think I will visit again someday.

Tonight I bought dinner here. I thought about eating here, but I'm a little tired and just want to take off my suit quickly, so I decided to get a bento to go. There were about 20 different bento options, but this time I chose the bite-sized pork cutlet and hamburger bento. The pork cutlet and hamburger were small but delicious. My stomach is satisfied now. I'll take a bath and say goodbye to the sticky feeling on my skin. Thank you for the meal!

These days, there are many restaurants in this area that charge exorbitant prices for omakase meals or full-course meals, where customers are squeezed for every penny. However, the charm of the food scene in this city lies in its unpretentiousness, balanced offerings, and reasonably priced dishes that are still carefully prepared. Those who understand this appreciate it. Personally, I prefer kushikatsu. There may not be a specific reason why, or if there is, I've forgotten it. Perhaps it's the enjoyment of experiencing different flavors in each bite. As I try the kushikatsu with a mayo-like sauce, I find the batter to be well-coated and the sauce to be delicious, not overly sweet. The meat dishes like gyukurosu and chicken katsu are also well-prepared with a demi-glace sauce. The rotation from beer to warm sake is smooth and enjoyable. Overall, it's a delightful experience. For more details on the specific dishes, please refer to the accompanying photos or comments.

I came to Oofuji-san. It's a popular restaurant for tonkatsu. Lunchtime gets crowded quickly, so it's best to go a little early. I recommend the lunch set with tonjiru and hirekatsu. The flavorful tonjiru and tender hirekatsu are delicious. The meat is good, but the fish also looks good. Thank you for the meal.

In the stylish town of Horie, I visited this somewhat unique tonkatsu restaurant and ordered the A set meal for 1270 yen. The large shrimp fry comes with tartar sauce, and the bite-sized cutlet and hamburger are generously topped with demi-glace sauce. Looking at the menu again for this post, I noticed that the katsudon is 660 yen cheaper. It caught my interest, I must visit again.

The food at the thirteenth restaurant was delicious, so I started visiting Mt. Fuji. I had already decided on my order after reading the reviews on Tabelog. I ordered the premium pork cutlet set. But for some reason, I ended up with the tenderloin instead. I wanted the loin... The tenderloin was also delicious, so next time I will order the loin.

I went to work around Yotsubashi Station for a while. I was looking for lunch and wandering around the station. I noticed a nice tonkatsu restaurant called "Daitomaru Horie Store" and was drawn in. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice and cozy. I arrived around 13:15 on a weekday and the place was about 70-80% full with customers.
[What I had for lunch]
- Service Lunch: 880 yen (including tax)
*PayPay accepted
- Assorted set of kisu fry and sirloin cutlet
The lunch that was served looked delicious with just the right amount. I started eating. The kisu fry had a crispy coating and a mild sweetness of the white fish, which paired well together. The sirloin cutlet was also crispy on the outside, and although the meat was a bit thin, the flavor was rich and satisfying. It went well with the grated ponzu sauce, creating a refreshing taste.
The portion was just right, and I finished it in no time. The attentive service, such as immediately refilling my tea, was also great. Overall, it was nice to be able to enjoy a comforting meal in the bustling downtown area.

Tonight, I had dinner here. After seeing a review of the oyster dish at Mairebi no Utage, I suddenly felt like eating oysters and decided to come here. I was right! I ordered the oyster fry set meal as soon as I saw the sign inside the restaurant. The oyster fry was small but there were 6 pieces, and the batter was crispy and fresh. The special tartar sauce was placed underneath instead of on top. I wanted to pour the tartar sauce over the rice and eat it. Even though the oysters were small, I was able to enjoy them thoroughly and left satisfied. Thank you for the meal!
