Visited this place for the third time tonight. I didn't have much of an appetite, so I was planning to just have some drinks. However, I shouldn't have come to this restaurant. I ordered two drinks and one dish, and only stayed for about 30 minutes. While I was having my second drink, the owner asked me, "What else would you like?" I replied that I was fine, to which he made a snide remark, "There's no point in drinking so little." Despite there being empty seats, I decided to finish my drink and leave. Customers have the right to choose where they go, and it's understandable that restaurants can choose their customers too. However, I felt like I may have used this restaurant in the wrong way. The drinks were reasonably priced, but the food felt a bit expensive. The taste was average.

Food Stall Mori in Nakasu, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture
I wanted to eat tarafuku Mizutaki at the food stall, but it was a bit unsatisfying. So, I decided to go to Tenjin, but I gave up because walking was a hassle. Luckily, I found a long-established restaurant Mori that had an available table! Even though I was already full, I couldn't resist the delicious-looking tempura and had a little bit of alcohol with it! Last time I came here was in December and I was freezing while drinking, but now it's a good season for outdoor drinking. Thank you for the meal!

Morisan is a local favorite spot located in Nakasu Kawabata. It's situated away from the usual row of food stalls, yet always bustling with customers. They offer a variety of dishes such as yakitori, tempura, grilled local chicken, sashimi, and more. The yakitori is grilled outside the stall, giving it a BBQ-like flavor. It's nice to visit a place like this once in a while. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Today, I am feeling cheerful again! "JACKing the stall Mori!" [Adding love from the reckless sommelier Masaki Nakabayashi to your heart]. Huh? Mori? A horror film co-produced by America and Germany that received high praise from Stephen King? By Crymory, seriously? Well well! Lately, I've been getting somewhat familiar with Hakata-Nakasu Kawabata, Fukuoka gourmet. This time, I visited the stall "Mori" in Nakasu, where many famous shops are lined up. I enjoyed delicious grilled skewers and tempura there. The master is so youthful that you can't tell his age, and he is friendly, cheerful, and lively. I love these kinds of culinary marriages in this season. The tempura had a crispy batter and the ingredients inside were very warm and comforting. The grilled dishes were perfectly sized and cooked to a nice medium-rare. You can tell there are many regular customers. According to the master, he says, "Please come more from Tokyo!" Nakasu Kawabata's stalls are truly recommended! So, let's go to "Mori" and eat a lot! Oh, can't resist the temptation anymore? *sigh*

The conversation with the master is enjoyable. The food, such as tempura and grilled beef skewers, is delicious. The atmosphere of the food stalls is unique. They don't serve raw food, but they specialize in tempura and skewers. I ordered oyster tempura and grilled beef skewers. I also got a bottle of beer. The oyster tempura for 700 yen was slightly burnt but fragrant. The grilled beef skewers at 300 yen each were truly Fukuoka-style. I also ordered local chicken for 700 yen. The prices are not cheap, but the stalls have become famous and attract many tourists, so they might be a bit pricey. The master is good at talking and entertaining. The interaction with customers is excellent. They wash the cups with water collected in a bucket, which is also unique.

This is a tempura stall along the Nakagawa River in Nakasu. It's been a while since I visited a stall in Nakasu. I used to come here every year when I was single, but I haven't been here in a while. The number of stalls is decreasing every year, it's really getting scarce. About 20 years ago, the city was filled with stalls as the sun set. This stall specializes in tempura, and I have always enjoyed visiting this shop. I started with a sweet potato shochu and a mixed tempura platter. I enjoy them while they are freshly fried. It's still delicious. I ordered another sweet potato and added an oyster tempura. They were small but delicious, especially the seasonal tempura. The eel tempura was fluffy and tender, so tasty. The owner seems to be doing well, which is great. The future of the stall culture is still unclear as government policies keep changing, but it's good news that the plan for abolishment has changed. I will definitely come back soon. Thank you for the meal.

The tempura here is incredibly delicious! The guy next to me from Hyogo said he has been coming here for 30 years. The assorted tempura was served promptly and the skewers came out really quickly too! Customers with reserved seats also arrived, saying "It's been 30 years, Morisan." So they have really been in business for 30 years!

I went drinking in Fukuoka with my drinking buddies! A friend from Fukuoka recommended us a great restaurant, even though locals don't usually go to food stalls. We wanted to experience it, so they took us to one. When in Hakata, you have to visit a food stall, right? Along the river, there were many food stalls lined up, it was amazing. For the second stop, we went to "Yatai Mori" in Nakasu. We entered through the curtain and toasted with other customers shoulder to shoulder. We had draft beer, sardines, tempura, and more. I may have had too much to drink at the first place because my memory is already fuzzy. After experiencing the food stalls, we enjoyed a snack at a bar that is a favorite of our Fukuoka friend.

Since 1973, Mr. Mori has been running a lively izakaya here in Nakasu. The gentle breeze along the river is soothing. Starting with a beer and skewers, the grilling is just right. Next, a shochu with hot water, accompanied by oyster tempura and turban shell tempura. The conversation with the regular sitting next to me is lively ^_^ As the night progresses, perhaps I'll finish with grilled mentaiko tea rice...

I went to a street food stall in Fukuoka for the first time in a long time, also as a guide to Fukuoka. Since it was a weekday, there were very few stalls open. I found one that looked like I could enter. I always thought that ramen was available at any street food stall, but surprisingly, many stalls do not offer it, so be careful. This stall also did not have ramen. The service here was surprisingly unfriendly, to the point where I wondered if street food stalls were always like this. You don't have to be overly friendly, but just being normal would be nice. The food was just okay, nothing special. It felt like everything was just grilled without any particular care. However, the prices were slightly higher than regular izakayas. Despite being mainly for tourists, I confirmed once again that it's better to avoid street food stalls in Nakasu at night.

It's delicious. They only serve tempura and grilled dishes, but the ingredients are fresh. I am always satisfied. I always enjoy a hot potato shochu while feeling the river breeze on my back. Ku!

A calming shop. Is it because of the friendly owner? The signboard of Kirishima is comforting.

If you want to go to a food stall where locals go, this is the place. Mr. Mori's personality attracts locals. If you have come all the way to Fukuoka, I hope you also get to interact with the locals.

Three years ago, when I went there, I was so indecisive about which food stall to choose, but today there were only three stalls? I happened to find a seat available at this one. I hit it off with the stall owner, and before I knew it, my shochu water was turned into watered-down shochu, or I struggled with conversation using Google's translation app installed by the Korean couple sitting next to me. I had a fun time.

*151212 Nakasu Yatai. I went to a stall known for its tempura. It has been featured prominently in a famous tourist magazine. The previous customers were a foreign couple. The owner, a seemingly serious but warm-hearted Kyushu man, was running the stall by himself. They only offer two types of beer, two types of shochu, and one type of sake. The owner is said to be a light drinker. The menu consists mainly of tempura and grilled skewers, with no ramen available (which was not a problem for me as I had another ramen place in mind). I ordered two beers, mentaiko, several grilled skewers, and a mixed tempura platter (1300 yen). I also had some hot sake later on. The food was served quite quickly. The tempura was good as it was freshly fried and hot, but the rest was just average. The prices were a bit high due to the location being a tourist spot, not really fitting the image of a casual street stall. Since I was in Nakasu, I wanted to enjoy the atmosphere, so I left after about 30 minutes. However, the best part was being able to chat with a tourist from Niigata who was sitting next to me. That's the charm of dining at a street stall.

<2015.11 First Visit> After leaving the Yama-chan Nakasu store, I headed towards the food stalls. There, I spotted a food stall that caught my eye, and it was this one. Most of the other food stalls were serving ramen, so the word "tempura" intrigued me. It was around 10 pm when I visited, and I saw someone leaving, so I decided to visit right away. Inside the store, there was a regular female customer. It felt like we were filling in the spot left by the previous customer. First, the owner, Mr. Mori, served us while drinking Georgia coffee. Later on, I found out that he only drinks sweet coffee. Mr. Mori was friendly and treated us politely, even though we came from Tokyo. Since it was raining and the temperature had dropped, hot sake seemed like a good idea, along with some tempura of conger eel and tilefish. As we were enjoying our food, two regular customers entered. From then on, the atmosphere became more lively with a real food stall vibe! I won't mention the names of the regulars, but they were older than us and full of energy. They interacted with the owner, the female customer, and even with us. In the end, they even performed a traditional Japanese poem for us. I enjoy getting into the spirit of things, so I made some slightly rude remarks, but we had a great time. Finally, we shook hands and left the restaurant. I was able to encounter a food stall that I would like to visit again during my business trip to Fukuoka. Thank you for the meal! m(_ _)m
