Found in Fukuoka Airport, on the 2nd floor of the domestic terminal, a great place called Omimichi Street. Hello Fukuoka! I found a top brand store for mentaiko (spicy cod roe), a paradise of souvenirs. They were baking sweets right in front of the store, and I discovered a "Mentaiko Quiche." It was a pre-baked tart with potatoes inside, colorful bell peppers, butterbur sprouts, Hokkaido cream cheese, and mentaiko flakes all mixed in a generous amount of white sauce. A unique dish that can be enjoyed in two bites, but the rich cheese flavor combined with the spicy taste of mentaiko makes it more of a meal-like dessert. Various companies are really coming up with interesting ideas!

The first thing that caught my eye as a souvenir at Fukuoka Airport was this (∩´∀`)∩ Since it was a day trip, I confirmed with the staff in the morning if they would still have it when I returned, and they said yes, so I bought it on my way back ^^ The expiration date is today!! It was like a quiche or gratin, with shimeji mushrooms, bell peppers, potatoes, and topped with spicy cod roe, but it was delicious^^ I'm not sure if 300 yen per piece is expensive or cheap, but it was a product that I wanted to try at least once^^ Thank you for the meal^^

"Fukuya" is famous for its mentaiko (spicy cod roe). I stopped by on my way back to try the mentaiko quiche that I saw in the reviews. The mentaiko quiche looks like a dessert but it's not sweet. It's a quiche made with Hokkaido cream cheese and Fukuya's mentaiko, giving it a slightly spicy flavor that pairs well with wine!

"Fukuya," headquartered in Fukuoka City, started its business in Nakasu in 1948 and began manufacturing and selling mentaiko (seasoned cod roe) the following year. It was the first manufacturer to produce mentaiko. In March 2018, "Fukuya" introduced "Mentaiko Quiche" at Fukuoka Airport store. Recommended by a friend from Fukuoka, I stopped by the "Fukuya" at Fukuoka Airport and bought freshly made "Mentaiko Quiche" to take back to Tokyo. [Fukuya's Mentaiko Quiche] *Comments are written on the photo. The store was quite crowded, so I gave up on taking photos. "Fukuya's Mentaiko Quiche" is a quiche with a slightly spicy and gratin-like flavor made with pie crust, Hokkaido cream cheese, and Fukuya's mentaiko. It goes well as a snack with beer. Thank you for the meal.

Fukuoka Airport "Fukuya" Collaboration Products with Avispa
When I went to Fukuoka Airport, I found "Fukuya," a store selling mentaiko. Since they are a sponsor of Avispa, I couldn't help but check it out. First, I tried the "Can't Stop Scoring" mentaiko for 540 yen. It was so good, I couldn't stop eating it. Then, I got the "Win with Men's Nakan Kan" set of two for 988 yen. I decided to try it with bread. Such a luxurious treat!
And for the first time, I bought the "Shichi Can" for 900 yen. It came with original player cards, and this time I got John Mary. His name is oddly small on the card.
Fukuya, thank you for supporting Avispa.

Before returning to Niigata from Fukuoka Airport, I had some extra time, so I wandered around the domestic terminal building 2nd floor and caught a pleasant smell. It seemed to be coming from this shop, so I decided to stop by. It was around 2:10 PM on a Sunday. The shop is located opposite the central elevator/escalator. It has a clean and open appearance, making it easy to enter. On the right side, there is a space for selling spicy cod roe, and on the left side, there is a sales counter. Inside the counter, they were baking "mentaikishu" (spicy cod roe quiche), which was the source of the good smell. I bought one for 300 yen (tax included) and sat on a nearby bench to try it. The "mentaikishu" came in a square paper bag with one side open. It was oval-shaped and about 3-4 bites in size. It was quite warm. The tart crust was filled with white sauce containing potatoes, bell peppers, beech mushrooms, and cream cheese, topped with spicy cod roe flakes. It was more like a gratin than a quiche. It had a crispy yet creamy texture with a rich flavor. The spicy cod roe flakes added a surprisingly good accent. It suited my taste quite well. Next time, I would like to take some home (they also sell them in a box of 5) and enjoy it as a snack with wine or beer.

Mentaiko Quiche 300 yen Quite famous? Made with the supervision of the chef from a local hotel (apparently). A Fukuoka Airport exclusive product, so if you're using the airport, be sure to try it. It's very delicious and highly recommended, served hot and available for purchase at the store. There are also souvenir packs available, and there are plenty of seating areas nearby where you can enjoy it. It was so delicious that I bought more. I wish I had bought some to take home. *I'm a bit busy at the moment, so I'm closing the comments section. I'll visit my followers' pages when I have some free time.☆

After finishing all my work in Fukuoka, I arrived at Fukuoka Airport and reached the airport station about 30 minutes before the departure time, as usual. I always seem to cut it close. A few years ago, even though I arrived just in time, I was looking for a requested mentaiko (spicy cod roe) shop and was told during security check that it was too close to departure time (less than 20 minutes) and they couldn't let me board, even though boarding hadn't even started. So, this time, I hurried to the terminal building. I had already checked in on my phone, so I just needed to go through security. But then a friend messaged me to try the mentaiko quiche at the airport because it was delicious. I couldn't resist. I quickly found the shop and surprisingly there was no line, so I bought one easily. In front of the shop, it said they had sold 343,175 quiches from March 2018 to last month. I'm not sure if that's a lot or a little, but they must be confident to display it. I bought one for ¥300 and it was still slightly warm, so I opened it and tried it right there. It was a creamy quiche with plenty of mentaiko and cream from Hokkaido. The mentaiko flavor was not overpowering, but it had a great presence. The slightly sweet base combined perfectly with the spicy and salty flavors of the mentaiko. I highly recommend it. It's a bit pricey, but worth it. I wish I had some white wine to go with it... Apparently, this quiche is limited to Fukuoka Airport, so if you ever go there, I recommend trying it. After that, I hurried through the baggage inspection and headed to the boarding gate. I always think I should have reserved my flight with more time to spare. But then I would probably end up working more and still be in a rush in the end.

I wanted to eat something before leaving the airport, so I came to this shop. I was curious about the taste of quiche, but it was delicious! The creamy dough is filled with plenty of mentaiko (spicy cod roe). It's crispy and tasty with the pie crust. The mentaiko is spicy, so be careful if you don't like spicy food!

Hello! This is Chokkinyan! I often land at Fukuoka Airport these days. I'm on a business trip, you know. And every time I'm there, I always have this! Mentaiko Quiche!!! Actually, it's more like a gratin than a quiche. The creamy mixture of cheese, mayonnaise, and spicy cod roe inside the crispy crust is just delicious! And the spicy kick that comes later is irresistible. This goes perfectly with beer! Beer, quiche, beer - it's a combination that you can't stop enjoying! The first time I tried it, I went back to buy a second one. It's a shame that it can only be enjoyed on the day of purchase, but it's a fun treat at the airport. (^^)

When I visited Fukuoka Airport, I was drawn to the word "limited" and bought an "Mentaiko Quiche". I immediately enjoyed it on a bench near the shop. The pie crust was crispy and satisfying. As written, it was made in a gratin style with creamy white sauce and sprinkled with mentaiko. It didn't seem like a lot, but it had a spicy flavor that stood out. The white sauce contained onions and shimeji mushrooms, making it much more authentic than expected. This is delicious! It seems like a good souvenir, but it's best to eat it warm and crispy. Thank you for the meal!

After finishing my business trip in Kyushu before the declaration of a state of emergency due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, I am flying back to Sapporo from Fukuoka Airport.
I have a souvenir requested by my junior colleague. "Fukuya's Spicy Mentaiko - Uncolored Regular" is a representative product of Fukuoka, along with Hakata's Nagahama Ramen. Apparently, Fukuya was the first in Japan to manufacture and sell spicy mentaiko. I wonder if it has a different deliciousness compared to other manufacturers?
When I was a child, spicy mentaiko was not sold in Hokkaido. I remember trying spicy mentaiko for the first time as an adult. I didn't have a bad impression of its taste, but I did wonder why they would make the already delicious "tarako" spicy. Also, it's quite expensive... I am still satisfied with the cheap regular "tarako" from Hokkaido!
On a side note, during my university days when I lived in Tokyo away from Hokkaido, I was shocked to learn about the culture of grilling "tarako"!

Fukuoka Airport Souvenir! I stopped in my tracks due to the delicious smell. I had seen a large sign above the entrance to the subway station, so I decided to buy it! However, since I was about to board a plane, I couldn't get it freshly baked. When I looked in the freezer in the store, I saw the same product frozen. I decided to get it there.
- Mentaiko Quiche, 5 pieces for 1500 yen
The crust was crispy and the filling was creamy with a spicy kick from the mentaiko. It made for a delicious snack. There are many other tasty quiches available, but this one seemed like a good choice for a souvenir from the airport. Thank you for the meal.

Fukuoka travel series. Please bear with me a little longer (^ω^) When it comes to Hakata, you can't miss mentaiko! I was full of the feeling that I had to buy mentaiko for myself at the airport on the way back! I chose this Fukuya store, a famous place to buy mentaiko. When I entered the store, all the staff were laughing out loud (^ω^) Everyone has a friendly atmosphere. I consulted with the staff while choosing the "normal spiciness" option. So, the next day, or rather this morning, I tried it out right away (^ω^) I gained 2.5 kilograms in these two days, so I'll go easy on the rice! But let's be extravagant and put a whole piece of mentaiko on top ♫ Wow, it's delicious! My wife also said, "Delicious (o^^o) I can eat as many bowls of mentaiko rice as I want ♫" and she was delighted (^ω^) It costs about twice as much as the mentaiko I usually buy at the supermarket, but it was a very satisfying breakfast ♫

There are not many shops open early in the airport, so I always struggle when catching the first flight. Usually, I buy a Kenji's donut from Honey Coffee on the first floor, but this time I decided to try the mentaiko quiche from this shop for breakfast. I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be surprisingly delicious! It's small but packed with flavor. Lately, I've been alternating between Kenji's donuts and this mentaiko quiche, enjoying them in the JAL lounge.

Fukuoka Airport exclusive! I bought it because it was recommended when I was looking for souvenirs at the airport. The quiche was being promoted prominently and the smell of cheese was wafting around. The price was a bit high (300 yen per piece) but since I was on a trip, I decided to splurge and bought it. It was warm when I bought it. When I tried it at home, it was delicious with plenty of mentaiko inside. It also had shimeji mushrooms and potatoes. The special paper bag and wrapping paper had a cute design, so I thought it would be a nice gift for someone you can give it to on the same day. I wanted a souvenir that would last longer this time, so I bought "Hakata no Kobin (1500 yen)", which is a set of three types of mentaiko oil pickles. The design is also very cute. I realized once again that design is important.

It has been 6 years since I last visited Fukuoka Airport, and I was completely surprised by how much the building has changed. While wandering around, I came across this mentaiko quiche that caught my eye because it was labeled as a Fukuoka Airport exclusive. I bought it right away! The mentaiko quiche was so creamy and delicious when I had it on the plane. Limited edition items like this are really great. The food review on Tabelog is 3.16 as of September 2019, but I think the quiche deserves a higher rating even if it costs more!

Shop: Fukuya Fukuoka Airport Store [Menu] Mentaiko Quiche [Price] 300 yen including tax [Visit Date and Time] Around 3:00 PM during August Obon period [Rating] ★★★ First time using the newly renovated store. I was looking for mentaiko as a souvenir and came across the mentaiko quiche! There was a sample and maybe because I was hungry, it was super delicious! It was a bit hard to carry around, so I hesitated whether to buy it or not. But I ended up buying it. Since they provide paper bags for 2 pieces, I put them on top of my backpack and safely brought them home. I didn't have much time, so I lightly heated them in the microwave and ate them. They were delicious, but there were paprika, shimeji mushrooms, or enoki mushrooms inside... I thought the mentaiko would be inside too, but it was only on top. I wish they would put mentaiko inside as well and skip the vegetables. The staff at the store were friendly, the store was clean, and the squid mentaiko I purchased was still delicious, so I will use it again when buying such souvenirs in the future. ♡

The mentaiko quiche was delicious, a bit spicy though. It is a limited edition item at the Fukuoka Airport store. You can enjoy it freshly baked at the store booth. It is perfect for enjoying at the airport, on the plane, or as a snack with drinks. The quiche is made with spicy mentaiko and Hokkaido cream cheese in a gratin-style white sauce, with a kick of paprika, potatoes, and shimeji mushrooms from Fukuoka. The recipe is supervised by Chef Sakamoto, the head chef of Fukuoka Sun Palace Hotel & Hall, who holds the prestigious title of Disciple of Auguste Escoffier in the French culinary world. Available at the Fukuoka Airport store, Domestic Terminal Building 2nd floor.

There is a Fukuya store on the 2nd floor of Fukuoka Airport Domestic Terminal Building, where you can find mentaiko (spicy cod roe). I bought mentaiko at Hakata Station, so I'm looking at other products. As a Fukuya Fukuoka Airport store exclusive, there is a demonstration sale of "Mentaiko Quiche" (300 yen). Mentaiko Quiche is a creamy white sauce using plenty of cream cheese from Hokkaido, with the spicy flavor and spiciness of mentaiko as an accent. It contains paprika, potato, and shimeji mushrooms as ingredients, and is topped with mentaiko flakes. The outside is crispy, the inside is creamy, and the cheesy flavor is very delicious. It seems like a gift that will be appreciated.
