Today, I had the opportunity to meet with some reviewers who live nearby for the first time! It all started with a comment on one of my reviews suggesting that we should get together for a neighborhood gathering, so I reached out and gathered 4 local reviewers, including myself. Thanks to my Myレビ (not bookmarks) friend who made a reservation for us at this place! I have had the 500 yen lunch special here before, but this was my first time visiting at night. What's more, this was the first time meeting Myレビ friend in person for all of us! One person was running late, so three of us gathered at 6 pm and entered the restaurant. Even though I frequently exchange messages with Myレビ friend on Tabelog, meeting for the first time still made me a bit nervous. However, the first two people who arrived were confirmed to not be scary people beforehand, so I was able to meet them with peace of mind (laughs). After entering, we introduced ourselves briefly and toasted with draft beer! We nibbled on the ankimo with ponzu sauce as we sipped our drinks. However, the conversation got so lively that none of us ended up ordering any food (^^;) So, we quickly opened the menu and ordered the following: - Assorted yakitori (5 skewers) 880 yen before tax - Edamame 380 yen before tax - Octopus with vinegar 580 yen before tax - Firefly squid marinated in vinegar 380 yen before tax Draft beer for 350 yen before tax, and shochu highball for 280 yen before tax were reasonably priced, but compared to other izakayas I frequent, the dishes were a bit on the expensive side (^^;) Just as we were about to make a toast, the last person arrived. At first glance, they seemed a bit intimidating, but after talking to them, they turned out to be a very friendly and kind person (*'∀') Phew. They were also a reliable local reviewer who was extremely knowledgeable about the food scene in Higashi-Mikuni! Since they had joined us, we decided to order some more: - Small shrimp tempura 480 yen before tax - Fried squid tempura 500 yen before tax - Assorted sashimi (7 varieties) 2580 yen before tax Actually, we didn't take any photos (laughs). Only the appetizers and sashimi platter were left (^^;) I'm sure everyone was more focused on communication rather than reviewing, right ( ̄▽ ̄)b! I'll give my thoughts on what I ate... The ankimo appetizer had a rich and flavorful taste, which was nice. The sashimi platter included bonito, salmon, octopus, and some white fish, all of which were very thick and fresh, justifying the high price. The small shrimp tempura was crispy and fragrant, perfect for accompanying drinks. But everyone was drinking a lot, a lot (laughs). With affordable alcohol prices, this place is perfect for those who prefer drinking over eating. Finally, we formed a LINE group called "Higami Club" and wrapped up our first meeting. I hope we can continue to have a good relationship as neighbors, regardless of Tabelog reviews. Thank you all very much m(__)m Now, shall we go to another place since we're all neighbors!? Stay tuned for the next part.
