I was looking for a serious Kanjankejan to eat during the 2019 rainy season in Fukuoka, and I was drawn to this image on the internet. This Kanjankejan looks really good. So, I made a reservation and went there. Oh, I was happy to see Hite beer. It's refreshing, right? I tried to order, but my mom's enthusiasm was strong. Despite that, I boldly placed my order at this fun restaurant. It was the "Kanjankejan" dish (1 serving/2000 yen x 2 servings). I thought it would be too much, but let's start with it - a slightly large homemade Kanjan. As soon as I took a bite, it was quite salty, but this rare taste is not easily found in Fukuoka. The strong flavor is different from the local taste, but the landlady's enthusiasm and presentation are intense with a touch of local flavor, making it enjoyable. Some may find it painful though. It would have been okay with just rice, but this time I wanted to enjoy the Kanjankejan, so I went for a Bibimbap style. Pouring the Kanjan's miso and soup over the rice and egg in the stone pot, it was a delicious experience. The crispy burnt rice and the saltiness of Kanjankejan made my appetite soar, so I ordered various other dishes while enjoying the fizz of the soda. It might be too salty if eaten separately, so it's better to have it with rice (sweat). There was also "Nakuchipokum" (around 1500 yen?), which was stir-fried octopus with Kochujang. This one had a local taste with less salt, just right! The sweetness of Kochujang and a hint of spiciness were gently felt. I ordered various other dishes besides the ones mentioned above, but since the Kanjankejan was the highlight, I didn't take photos of them. The restaurant is run by a very strong-willed landlady, so if you can't handle an Asian-style service, it might be tough. I'm okay with it (laughs). Be firm with your decisions and handling, as enthusiasm is important in Asia. This place really gives off a vibe of the local culture, which you might not find in Fukuoka (laughs). *This review gives extra points for being able to eat rare Kanjankejan in Fukuoka.
