Sushi Totogin Shinsaibashi Store @ Shinsaibashi-suji, Chuo-ku, Osaka City Blog ⇒ This is a blog by an old man from Kawachi about his everyday meals and occasional drinks. Located about a 3-minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, it's Sushi Totogin Shinsaibashi Store. A reader commented, "When I see Kawachi-san's blog, there seems to be more meat than fish." I replied, "That's not true, I love sushi too." The reader then said, "This place! There's always a line, and I'm curious, so please go check it out!" Curious but never going themselves... Well, my partner and I decided to visit while we were in Minami. It was around 8 pm on a Saturday, and there were already 2 groups of 4 people waiting in front of the store. Surprised by the crowd at that time! Upon entering the store, there is a counter with 12 seats in a horseshoe shape, and further inside, there are 3 box tables and 4 regular tables, with a capacity of about 38 seats. We had made a reservation, so we were seated at a table. Looking around, it was mostly female customers, and many of them were young. Each table had what looked like a faucet... Oh, it's a faucet for shochu! All-you-can-drink shochu for 550 yen for 1 hour, the store must be losing money on this, right? The menu is quite extensive, including sushi, sashimi, and various other dishes. Orders are placed through a modern system using your smartphone. Free Wi-Fi is also available, which is convenient. We started with drinks: a draft beer for 548 yen and Kaga Bo Hojicha for 328 yen. The Bo Hojicha was a product by Pokka Sapporo. The cream cheese grilled with Saikyo miso for 493 yen was creamy and flavorful. The fried yam for 493 yen had a crispy texture and perfect saltiness. We also ordered the luxurious staircase platter for 1,978 yen, which included 6 types of sashimi. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, with no fishy taste. We then had the Tuna Trio for 1,428 yen, which included 3 pieces of tuna nigiri. The quality was excellent and worth the price. We also ordered a bottled beer for 605 yen. The Salmon Trio for 660 yen and the Sweet Shrimp for 198 yen were also delicious. The seared eel for 660 yen was soft and sweet, a delightful dish. We also tried the Tekka Maki for 396 yen. Overall, the food was fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced.
