There is a spacious parking lot, you can enjoy the rural road along the way, the restaurant has high ratings on Tabelog, so I finally visited "Shinritsu Menkan" in Uji-Tawara that I've been curious about for a while. As soon as you arrive, an impressive gorilla welcomes you! Why a gorilla??? - Arrival time: 1:00 pm - Crowdedness: 3 customers already inside It's a place that reminds you of old drive-ins, with a nostalgic feel. I ordered the Delicious Ramen and rice, and it was served in just 5 minutes. It's not a special, deluxe, or special, but the naming sense of "Delicious" is wonderful. It comes with thick slices of chashu, plenty of green onions, and my favorite menma! What surprised me was the amount of rice! I ordered a regular portion, but it's like a whole bowl (lol). The clear pork soy sauce broth is rich in flavor with a hint of chicken, and it's not too heavy but rather gentle. This might be the type that you'll crave after having it once! I tried changing the taste with the grated garlic and pepper provided at the counter. It became a bit more junky! Then, I tried adding chili miso? Chili garlic? for another flavor change. It added a punch with spiciness and a slight acidity! The taste changes were distinct because of the simple soup base. They were all delicious, but I personally preferred the original. It might have been nice to try them in reverse order to savor the lingering taste (lol). The noodles in the regular portion surprisingly had a good volume. The thin noodles were firm and smooth, with a simple and delicious taste. The chashu was outstanding, not overly stewed, juicy with no dryness, and the fatty parts were melt-in-your-mouth. It paired excellently with the white rice. Even as a standalone dish, the chashu was worth it! The rice came with chopped pickled vegetables, which was a refreshing and delicious palate cleanser, leaving a clean and happy feeling on the palate. The rice might have been a bit pricey, but with the Tabelog coupon, the ramen itself is very reasonable! I also received a sticker along with the shop card. Now, shall we take a detour to the neighboring town of Wazuka to see the tea fields on the way back? Thank you for the meal.

Today, I had some business at the town hall and decided to have lunch at Tanaka Chinese Cuisine's Bansei, an udon restaurant. I quickly decided to come here before going to Bansei. I ordered the standard menu with less chashu, which was not a good choice, but I added a lot of garlic. The soup is a bit light, so I felt like adding some spicy miso would make it tastier. I was happy to see a lot of green onions on top.

Hello, today is Thursday, August 17, 2023. It's past 1 pm, but I couldn't resist coming here again. Since it's a weekday, they didn't have beef bone ramen today. I ordered a regular miso ramen for myself and my son had a large serving of stamina ramen. As always, it was really delicious!

During work, I stopped by as a passerby. There was a Chinese restaurant on the left, but I purposely went straight ahead, crossing the opposite lane. It had a rather old feel. When I looked at the menu, many items were closed? Sold out? Discontinued? I ordered ramen and a small rice. The small rice arrived first, hmm, is this really a small rice? It looks more like a large rice? The ramen was smaller than usual. The taste was similar to Ramen Ten in Yamashina. I enjoyed it as it was quite tasty.

Today, I went to Uji Tahara Shintate Menkan. The ramen was classic and had a perfect balance of soup and noodles with a hint of garlic. I ordered the grilled meat set, which was delicious with a moist texture. It was a long time since I had this kind of grilled meat. Eating it with green onions and bean sprouts was tasty. Even after 1 PM, the restaurant was still busy with customers coming in one after another!

Hello♪ Today is Sunday, June 4, 2023. Today, we are planning to go to our second son's place with our eldest son's family and my partner. On the way, it seems that our eldest son's family has been to the neighboring Mansei a few times, but they have never been here before. I suggested, "Let's go once because it's delicious," and asked for their opinion. I recommended trying the specialty beef bone ramen here. They were amazed by how delicious it was, with a whole boiled egg that was perfectly runny, and they enjoyed the balance of the rich yet light soup. It was delicious. Let's do our best, Mansei!

I went to "My Ramen Appla" aiming for it, but it was closed. So, I went to a nearby shop called "Shintate Menkan" for the first time. I ordered the "Invincible Standard" ramen in a large portion (1,100 yen) and it was served after a while. It was almost like an Asahi-style ramen - thin straight noodles in an animal-based soup. It had plenty of green onions, bamboo shoots, and a generous amount of pork thigh chashu. The chashu was sliced quite thin, and there were also small diced pieces mixed in. I wished they had put the diced pieces as chunks without slicing them till the end. Because I'm frugal, I feel compelled to eat all the chashu that accumulates at the bottom of the soup. However, since it's finely chopped, it's hard to eat. That's the kind of ramen shop it was.

The ratings are good and the place seems quite popular. The customers are mostly blue-collar workers. I ordered a large ramen and fried rice, my wife had a yakiniku set meal with ramen, grilled pork, rice, and pickles, and my child had a yakiniku set meal with ramen, grilled pork, rice, and pickles. The portions were large, especially the fried rice, which came on a huge plate. The ramen was also bigger than expected. The yakiniku set had plenty of grilled pork. The rice came in a deep bowl, and there was a good amount of pickles. Overall, the set meals seemed more filling and better value than ordering items separately. They even brought extra rice and grilled pork for my child, who couldn't finish everything. The fried rice was tasty with a nice touch of green onions, but surprisingly heavy. The ramen, although from the popular Asahi chain, tasted a bit strange – perhaps because of the wild boar broth? Despite that, I managed to finish it easily. Overall, it was a satisfying meal!

Just around lunchtime in this area, we searched nearby and found a restaurant recommended by my partner. Today, my partner, our youngest child, and I visited as a group of three. The restaurant was full, so we had to wait a bit for a table to be cleared. We were seated at the far back at a table for four, and we looked at the menu. The ramen came in small, regular, and large sizes, so it seemed like a place that serves generous portions. Should we go for the ramen or the value set meal...? Looking at the wall, there was a notice about the water used to cook the rice, suggesting a focus on quality. If the rice is delicious, maybe we should go for the set meal? I decided on the roasted pork set meal. Since the ramen in the set meal seemed small, the youngest child also chose the same. My partner went for the large ramen and large fried rice, which is pretty typical for him. Burly guys kept coming in one after another. It seems like the order rate for the grilled meat set meal or stewed dish set meal is high. The ramen, even in a small size, seemed like it would be enough... but then the steamed white rice was brought out, a mountain of it. The ramen, even in a small size, seemed like a full portion... The roasted pork was also spread out on a plate... The youngest child immediately offered some rice and roasted pork to my partner upon seeing it. I also shared some roasted pork because it had a rich sauce that wasn't shown in the menu photo. Later, I realized that the order had actually been for the grilled meat set meal. The grilled meat set meal had marinated pork slices, while the roasted pork set meal didn't have any sauce... I'm a bit confused... Regaining my focus, let's try the ramen. The ramen in the set meal is said to be fixed at the size of a small ramen from the past... It had a familiar taste, like something I've had before. The rich pork bone soy sauce broth was so good that it made me want to eat white rice. When I tasted the rice, it was immediately sweet and had a nice texture. This is truly a place where white rice is delicious. I couldn't help but watch my partner who was eating fried rice. It seemed like a waste to have ordered fried rice... I thought to myself. Now, the grilled meat? It's actually marinated pork slices, and since they were generously coated in sauce, the rice just kept disappearing. Towards the end, the sauce was a bit overwhelming. The ramen soup was to my liking, as it had a salty flavor that made the rice go down smoothly. As I continued eating, I noticed the regular customers on their own? Their orders were consistently ramen and a small bowl of rice. Ah, I see, just having ramen and rice was probably more satisfying, I'm sure. It seems like you can enjoy a meal here reasonably. There's also a restaurant across the street that my partner likes, so it might be difficult to revisit this place, but I really enjoyed the ramen soup here. If there's a next time, I've decided on ramen and a small bowl of rice.

Hello, today is Sunday, April 9, 2023. I visited HAG Marche for some reconnaissance, as part of checking out other restaurants. Coincidentally, there was a market happening across the street. This is my second time here, and I ordered the Weekend Beef Bone Ramen for 950 yen including tax, as it's a Sunday special. My companion had the Stew Set Meal for 1,100 yen including tax, and we shared the rice and meat. As always, the food was delicious. We received a 100 yen discount with a coupon from Tabelog and also got a sticker, which I put on my car.

I visited during lunchtime on a weekday. The restaurant was almost full, but luckily there was one seat available at the counter. I checked the menu, but unfortunately, they didn't have the "Delicious Ramen" that I was looking for. I ordered the Special Ramen and a small rice. It was a bit busy, so I had to wait a bit, but the food was served in about 20 minutes. The ramen portion was quite generous even for the regular size, and the small rice was of average size compared to other restaurants. First, I tried the soup. "Wow, it's delicious!" While waiting, I read other reviews and found out that the soup was made from animal ingredients. It wasn't smelly and had a light taste. The noodles were thin and straight, with plenty of roast pork and decent bamboo shoots. The green onions were crunchy and tasty. There were various condiments on the table, including furikake for rice. I added garlic midway through, and I was surprised that even with the garlic, the soup's flavor wasn't overpowered. Even with extra garlic, it held its own. That was impressive. The restaurant seemed to boast about their rice, but I personally couldn't tell the difference. By the time I left, the restaurant was starting to empty out. Timing is crucial, isn't it? According to the Eatery data, it said they are closed on Tuesdays, but they were open. The restaurant is also smoke-free.

A ramen shop in Uji-Tawara, Kyoto Prefecture. You can enjoy nostalgic ramen flavors similar to the famous Daiichi Asahi. The location has a high rating of 3.52 (at the time of the review), so I was curious. The soup is likely animal-based (probably just pork?) shoyu flavor, topped with plenty of green onions. I wonder if there are other ramen shops nowadays that generously top their ramen with this much green onions. The soup has a wavy texture. Overall, they are very generous. I take a sip. Delicious. Ah, this is the kind of ramen I like. I also like the original Daiichi Asahi, and this one probably has a similar taste. I usually enjoy nostalgic Kyoto-style ramen like Oyaji in Ukyo-ku, but this one is putting up a good fight. However, I must repeat that the green onions are amazing. They come with each mouthful, intertwining with the noodles. I wouldn't be surprised if the product name was "Negi Ramen." Inside the shop, there is a man who seems to be the owner, his wife, and what seems to be his mother - three people. The mother seems to be struggling a bit, maybe finding it hard to keep up, but she is trying her best. I personally didn't feel any inconvenience, but I couldn't help feeling a bit nervous. I hope they stay healthy and keep up the good work.

I went to "Shinritsu Menkan" because I wanted to eat the "Delicious" ramen with four thick slices of chashu after a long time and also wanted my ramen-loving neighbor to try it. However, the "Delicious" ramen was discontinued. It was disappointing, but the ramen was delicious! ☺️ #ShinritsuMenkan #UjiTawaraGourmet #UjiTawaraRamen

This is a lunch on the way back after finishing errands at my parents' house in Kyoto. It's always crowded at lunchtime, but this day we were able to sit down smoothly. I've been using this restaurant frequently lately. I was planning on having a set meal this time, but when I heard they had beef bone ramen, I changed my mind. Beef bone ramen (¥950) was what I and my partner ordered. It took a while for it to be served. The color seemed darker than when I had it before. The taste was richer than before. It was a bit spicier too. But it was delicious, so it was totally fine. It seems like they were running low on stock, so maybe that's why it was richer. Thank you for the meal.

I visited around noon and there was a wait. I ordered the standard ramen for 800 yen. The noodles were thin and lacked firmness. There was a generous amount of chashu, although it wasn't a chashu-heavy ramen! The soup was to my partner's liking, and I enjoyed it with plenty of garlic and spicy miso. Thank you for the meal.

Today's visited restaurant is located along Route 307, a restaurant with decent reviews and has been in business for over 10 years. Passing by many times during golf, I visited just after 11 am, shortly after opening hours. As soon as I entered the entrance, I saw a rare "wood stove"! It was warm! The interior is spaciously arranged with three tables and a few counter seats. The restaurant is run by the owner and an elderly lady, perhaps his mother? There was one customer before me and another regular-looking customer right after me. I ordered "Ramen (regular)" and "Fried Rice (small)". The dishes came out fairly quickly. The appearance was quite standard, I took a sip of the ramen soup. Mmm! It's a typical soy sauce tonkotsu broth often found in Kyoto! The soup of the "Yokozuna Ramen" is a bit lighter and delicious! The straight thin noodles also resemble the "Yokozuna Ramen". The pork belly chashu might be even better than the "Yokozuna Ramen"? Next came the "Fried Rice (small)" - fluffy and moist! And it's delicious with a subtle flavor! When it was served, I was worried if it was too much, but it was so tasty that I finished it all! Of course, I also finished all the ramen soup! Satisfied and content, thank you for the meal.

Delicious is currently on hiatus, so I ordered a set meal. At Shinritsu Menkan in Ujita Haracho, Kyoto, I had the Char Siu Set Meal which includes a plate of grilled pork, a small bowl of ramen, a small bowl of rice, and pickles. I also added a small portion of grilled rice. The Delicious Ramen, which is topped with thickly sliced grilled pork, is no longer available due to the rising meat prices starting from August 1, 2022. The Pork Kimchi Bowl, with grilled pork in kimchi sauce on rice (without Chinese cabbage kimchi), was already sold out. The restaurant opened in the first year of the Heisei era (1989) and had a quick service at 10:51 with only 6 customers waiting at the opening at 10:57. It's a shame that My Ramen Applaudeya is closed on my day off, just a 5-minute drive away.

I went to eat in the middle of December 2022. The purpose was to try the Stamina Ramen that I missed out on during my last visit. The Stamina Ramen (¥950) was a combination of simmered ingredients and kimchi, which was completely different from what I had imagined. However, I was able to enjoy eating it while also appreciating the unexpected flavors. The simmered ingredients were surprisingly good. It made me feel warm and cozy, which is perfect for this season. Next time, I might try conquering the set meal series. Thank you for the meal.

To the south of Ishiyama, the water level of the Setagawa River was amazing. For lunch today, I crossed the prefectural border to Uji-Tawaramachi and went to Shinritsu Menkan. The ramen (regular size 800 yen) had thin noodles with a powdery texture, chewy and satisfying. The pork bone and chicken broth had a light soy flavor, with a thick layer of oil that was hot and not overly greasy, adding depth to the otherwise light taste. Personally, I prefer when the noodles are firm. Thank you for the meal!

Arrived at 10:40 on August 4, 2022. First in line, with four other customers arriving later, excluding my wife. Ordered the "Ramen (regular)" ☆ The soup is a clear broth soy sauce flavor. The surface is slightly oily, but the inside is light. The umami flavor is rich, saltiness is just right, and it's very delicious. The noodles are thin and curly. Firm with a popping texture. The soup coats well, and you could have as much as you want. The thinly sliced chashu is flavorful and tender, reaching the level of exquisite taste. Plenty of bamboo shoots are included, cut long and crispy, complementing the soup well. Additionally, there are plenty of Kujo green onions. The restaurant has both counter and table seats with a good number of seats. The interior is simple with a cozy atmosphere. There are several parking spaces in front of the restaurant. It gives off a nostalgic Chinese soba vibe, making you feel at ease. Thank you for the meal!

■2022/07/24■ - Naba's Monologue - I had the image of a Tonkotsu-aged soy sauce ramen from the photo posted by Mairebi at Kyoto Ramen Myrebi in Uji-Tawara, but is it more like the Daiichi-Asahi style? It's called Kyoto Ramen in Uji-Tawara. The ramen I had was the Delicious Ramen, with thick slices of chashu and noodles. Personally, the soup gave me an impression of being a mix of Shinpukusenkan and Daiichi-Asahi. The soup, made with animal broth and sweet aged soy sauce, had a surprisingly light taste. However, I personally found the saltiness to be on the higher side. Just my two cents. The chashu had a strong salty flavor, and I thought the chashu itself was delicious. The meat was firm, and the chashu had just the right thickness to be easily bitten through. The thickness did make the chashu a bit cold, which is nice in the summer but might cause the soup to cool down quickly in the winter. The noodles were thin, straight, and had a low hydration rate. They had a nice firmness and paired well with the light soup. Just my two cents. The Kyoto Ramen in Uji-Tawara was delicious. Thank you for the meal. ^^
