Two years ago, I came across a sign that read "弁・弁" along the road leading to Mojiko Port from Shin-Moji, and I was intrigued by the peculiar name. The location is in Nishiki-cho, about a 10-minute walk from Mojiko Port Station or Dejima Art Museum Station (where the weekend Tram Train, Shiofuki-go, operates). If you are driving, there is a parking lot next to the store. [Cat and Antique Gallery Ben Ben] is open from 11:00 to 19:00, closed on Tuesdays. The shop also has a cat cafe called Retro NIYAN. There seems to be an additional fee for entering the cat room (it says "with your feelings"), so please inquire with the staff for more details. The shop was originally started about 30 years ago near Minami-Kokura Station in Benten-cho, which is the origin of the shop's name. It has since moved a few times before settling here two years ago. The famous antique café in Mojiko Port, [Wandering Record], is also said to be created by the owner. The cat cafe was originally on the second floor of Wandering Record but was relocated here a year ago. The cat cafe itself will celebrate its 11th anniversary in June. The space where the cats are kept has a wild and natural feel, and the cats seem to be taken care of in a relaxed manner. This time, I enjoyed watching the cats through the glass. On the first floor, there are various retro art pieces, dolls, and lifestyle goods filling the space, making you feel like a tiny person searching for treasures in a toy box. On the second floor (where you take off your shoes), there are antique fabrics sent from Kyoto and dolls collected by the owner's mother, giving you a feel of becoming the town's signboard girl and allowing you to spend a leisurely time. The café has tables on the first floor and counter seats by the window. The menu includes light meals such as hotcakes, sandwiches, and zenzai, as well as drinks. The coffee is said to be roasted by the owner. Having just had lunch, I hesitated about ordering hotcakes due to the portion size, but when told there was cake available today, I decided to have it with coffee. - Cake (Mont Blanc) - Coffee Total: 550 yen The Mont Blanc had layers of sponge and cream, which was delicious. The coffee was a bit strong with a slight bitterness, very elegant with a beautiful finish. It was very delicious. The owner was a delightful person who kept the conversation enjoyable. The architecture and residents here (the various lifestyle goods, artworks, and dolls) will evoke nostalgia for those born in the Showa era. Cat lovers will find this a unique and enjoyable space.
