Here is the "Grave Japanese-style Room" located in a corner of the compound restaurant "Shimakuma-san Grave" along Nakano. Grave-san is a long-established restaurant that has been around for 37 years. Although it is old, it is well maintained and occasionally renovated. There is only one entrance, but the interior is divided into three areas: the restaurant area, teppanyaki, and Japanese-style rooms. I used to visit this place occasionally when I had just gotten my four-wheeler license. It was easy to park, which was convenient for me. However, when I visited, I usually dined in the casual restaurant area. Even now, the restaurant area is casual, offering a variety of Japanese, Western, Italian, and cafe-style dishes, making it popular among the ladies in the northern suburbs for lunch. I have visited with nearby friends for lunch several times. Recently, I enjoyed a steak at the teppanyaki here. At that time, I asked the staff about the Japanese-style rooms that I had been curious about for a while. It turns out that you can use the Japanese-style rooms for orders of 1,600 yen or more (including tax) per person (private room usage is free). They offer Japanese set meals as well as teppanyaki steak. I thought this might be a place where my picky and luxurious aunt might be somewhat satisfied, considering her many likes and dislikes and refined palate. The restaurant's hours are from 11:00 to 23:00 (with a lunch break), with lunch served from 11:00 to 14:30. They are open every day of the year. ★ September 2015, lunch - I visited with my aunt. We did not make a reservation. The Japanese-style area we were guided to had a good atmosphere with a sunken hearth and decorations at the entrance. My aunt, who has a gardener take care of the garden at her home in Minoh, and also does some gardening herself, said, "This is nice!" as she gazed around. The walls of the corridor leading to the private rooms seemed to have been repainted, all white. There were large lilies, cute beckoning cats, frogs, and goldfish decorations on the walls. The private rooms lined up on both sides of the corridor looked like a ryokan. The inside of the room was a sunken hearth. The tatami flooring of the sunken hearth was comfortable on the soles of the feet. The walls, tatami mats, and sliding doors inside were new and clean. However, the low table for the pot seemed a bit worn and old. But it wasn't too bad. The high ceiling and the view of the garden made it relaxing. There were also raccoon dog figurines in the garden, which added to the nice atmosphere. * However, my aunt was a bit critical of the maintenance of the trees in the garden. ('◇')ゞ This is something I don't really understand as I live in a garden-less apartment. (^_-) ● Menu (excluding tax) ★ Lunch menu...
