Karaage set meal for 850 yen. I changed the ponzu sauce to mayonnaise. The crispy and slightly small karaage has a satisfying taste and is delicious. It comes with a side dish, making it feel like a good deal. It's also nice that you can get a free large serving of rice.

After finishing my errands in Osaka Nishi-Umeda, I decided to casually grab a drink in the westward direction. I stumbled upon a place in an area with few options. I enjoyed some kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) and beer, a classic Osaka combo, at a slightly stylish establishment run by a solo master. I sampled various kushikatsu with a beer in hand. While there was nothing particularly outstanding, I had a simple and enjoyable experience with kushikatsu that allowed for double dipping. Thank you for the meal.

One of the lunch rotation spots, Kanta, is a small restaurant with counter seats and one table for four people. The fried food here is delicious, so I ordered the daily special shrimp fry and pork cutlet. The meal came with shredded cabbage, spaghetti salad, two shrimp fries, and a half portion of pork cutlet. The miso soup with fried tofu was also tasty. We enjoyed the shrimp fry with tartar sauce and the pork cutlet with sauce. The fried food here is definitely delicious.

I have been trying to cut back on carbs like rice and noodles recently. When I went out to eat, I found that many places offer free extra rice or rice as a service, but I wish there were options for smaller portions or no rice. I feel that the side dishes are already satisfying enough without the rice. It's great that there are now restaurants offering smaller rice portions at a slightly cheaper price! I ordered the grated katsu, but I felt that it wasn't as crispy with the grated radish already on it. I think it's better to dip it in the sauce instead. Next time, I'll try the regular katsu or go for the daily special!

I didn't know there was a cozy tonkatsu restaurant like this. It seems nice even at night. The daily special, tonkatsu set meal for 770 yen, was crispy and the meat was tender. The oil was light and didn't leave my stomach feeling heavy. The spaghetti salad that came with it was fruity and I wish there was a bit more of it.

Located in Kita-ku, Osaka. Near Nishi-Umeda and Dojima, down a small alley south of the Deiribashi intersection. This place serves kushikatsu, but they also offer tonkatsu for lunch. The restaurant has a counter with 8 seats and two tables for two people. The miso katsu set meal (750 yen) features their homemade Hatcho miso. The miso flavor is not too strong, but it's rich! The tonkatsu is a bit thin but still passes the mark. The rice is freshly cooked and delicious. The miso soup is also tasty. With all this and a side dish included, the price is cheap! I'd like to try their kushikatsu at night as well!

Let's have lunch at a kushikatsu restaurant near Umeda in Osaka. Since it's a kushikatsu place, the lunch menu consists of fried items. There's tonkatsu, misokatsu, oroshi katsu, and chicken karaage, all of which are my favorites. Misokatsu is quite rare in Osaka. The daily special is a mixed katsu set with two pieces of hirekatsu, one piece of ham katsu, and sanma (mackerel pike) mix. The restaurant has a small counter with about seven seats and one small table, enough to accommodate around 10 people. I sit at the counter. I order the daily mixed set for 850 yen. The rice comes in a large portion for free, so I opt for the large size. It takes a little while for the food to be fried after ordering. Here it comes. The hirekatsu, ham katsu, and sanma are skewered together. Cabbage and spaghetti are served on the side. Miso soup is included. The miso soup is placed on the left, beyond the rice, following the typical Osaka style of serving a meal. The tonkatsu sauce is in a small dish. Instead of pouring the sauce over the katsu, you dip the katsu into the sauce. Since it's pork loin, there's no fatty part. The ham katsu is delicious even without sauce, making it very easy to eat with rice. The sanma is topped with grated daikon and ponzu sauce. It was a very satisfying lunch with a generous portion.

"Located behind the Autobacs near the Deiribashi Bridge, is the restaurant 'Kushiage Kitchen Kanta'. I had always wanted to try this place. Cheers with a draft beer! I asked for a recommended dish and was served marinated octopus and homemade oil sardines! So delicious! The octopus was chewy and the sardines had the perfect amount of salt, great with alcohol. We also ordered some skewered cutlets. The shrimp was so good you could even eat the head! They were fried perfectly, so you can eat as many as you want. We tried various skewered cutlets and finished with ochazuke, leaving us completely satisfied. The owner was friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was calming, making it a great recommendation for both women and couples."

I felt like eating fried food so I stopped by. There was a sign saying no smoking until 12:45. Great! I ordered the chicken karaage set with a small portion of rice. Even though it's fried food, it came out quite quickly. I'm grateful for that. The karaage comes with grated daikon radish for a refreshing taste. It also comes with salad, side dish, and clear soup. It's rare that it's not miso soup. You can get a large portion of rice for free, extra rice for 50 yen, and a small portion for a discount of 30 yen. I enjoyed freshly fried food for 670 yen. The rice was also delicious.

Entrance and exit bridge. For some reason, shops are gathered here. With a lot of foot traffic from Fukushima to Doshima and Shinchi, it seems like a good place for attracting customers. At first glance, it's unclear what kind of shop this is. There is a sign out. It seems to be a fried food shop. They offer lunch. Is this a tonkatsu shop after all? The shop is a bit small. It seems like a counter-based shop. This is just my personal opinion, but the atmosphere is remarkably clear. Not in terms of air or sound, but I felt a sense of cleanliness or transparency. However, it's a fried food shop. I feel a bit of a mismatch, but in my hungry state, it doesn't really matter. Tonkatsu set meal. 700 yen. The tonkatsu was delicious freshly fried. The rice might have been delicious too. The miso soup was average, but it was a nice meal in a good atmosphere. It was a very ordinary and decent izakaya and yakitori restaurant. It is located near the famous Kin-Tsuba bridge, at the entrance to the old district. They seem to serve lunch sometimes, but not always. I went there based on reviews, but they were closed during lunchtime on my recent visit. Overall, I enjoyed the miso katsu and the salad dressing was also good.

I had about an hour until my appointment, so I decided to wander around the Breeze Breeze area. I visited this small restaurant in a slightly off-the-beaten-path location. The restaurant has 8 counter seats and 4 table seats, and it is very clean. They are celebrating their 6th anniversary, and as part of the celebration, their tonkatsu and miso katsu lunch sets are discounted from 700 yen to 600 yen. I opted for the tonkatsu. You can get a free large serving of rice, or save 30 yen for a small serving. Extra rice is available for 50 yen. The tonkatsu was freshly fried and deliciously crispy and juicy. I didn't go for the large rice serving to avoid overeating. The meal also came with a side of cold noodles, which was a nice touch for the summer season. This place seems like it would be a great spot for wine in the evening.

I found this small shop while exploring the neighborhood for my new move. There was only one other group of customers inside. I wondered, "Can a business survive in such an inconspicuous place?" Not feeling very hungry, I started with a set of five assorted skewers. I like to dip them in salt, ponzu, and sauce, but when it comes to kushikatsu, I stick to the traditional sauce! I tried different combinations, but sauce still seems to be the best match.
