The second floor of the souvenir shop offers soy sauce ramen for 700 yen. You can bring your own drink from the first floor. Sapporo beer is popular in Hokkaido, and the Sapporo Classic Spring Green can is recommended. The Bocca yogurt drink is impressive, thick and rich with a strong flavor, and does not spill easily. The soy sauce ramen is flavorful.

I escaped from Sapporo with my friends' couple in September 2021! Along the way, we stop by any open places. There is an observation deck overlooking Lake Toya, a popular spot since ancient times, with few people scattered around due to the time. Many families use the restroom. I saw a banner for helicopter sightseeing, and there were quite a few people taking the ride! Now, I entered a souvenir shop to browse. It feels like I haven't been to a tourist spot in a long time. I bought the most popular souvenir at Lake Toya, "Shirayuki Milk Pudding" for 300 yen. I was also interested in the Hokkaido limited "Kakinotane" on the top shelf, but I decided not to buy it. When I got home, I can eat it with the spoon attached, so it is possible to eat it on the spot. When you open it, the pudding is packed tightly. It's a solid pudding made with agar, so it has a satisfyingly rich texture. It tastes like milk, which I've had somewhere before. The caramel flavor might be tastier. Next time, I'll go for the caramel flavor. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I visited the Silo Observatory. Taste → ☆☆☆ Service → ☆☆☆ Atmosphere → ☆☆☆☆ Cost performance → ☆☆☆☆ Drink → ☆☆☆☆ During a previous GoTo Hokkaido campaign, I visited Lake Toya on my way from Hakodate to Sapporo. I stopped by a souvenir shop and a nearby stand where I bought milk, caramel pudding, and the stand's sweet red bean porridge. The pudding had just the right amount of milkiness and was perfect for a souvenir. The sweet red bean porridge at the stand was milk-based with red beans, and the warm sweet milk warmed me up. It was a much-appreciated hot drink. Thank you for the meal.

There is an observation area overlooking Lake Toya, which is the main attraction. There are also Instagram-worthy letter sculptures. It is recommended to stop by. However, the items sold in the shop have a strong Showa era atmosphere, and there are various souvenir products sold in this area, so there are no specific recommended points. Take photos and if you find a souvenir you like, you can get it here!

On the 4th day of my trip to Aomori and Hokkaido, I left Makkarina in Shikaribetsu Village and arrived at Lake Toya. The first place I visited was the Silo Observatory, a spot where you can overlook Lake Toya. Unfortunately, it was raining lightly and the weather was bad, so I couldn't see the beautiful Lake Toya. The photos didn't turn out well either. There were many travelers from Korea here. I tried the "Seven Seaweed Soup" and "Sashimi Kombu" seaweed at the shop here. They are products from Kino Shoji in Otaru, and they were delicious! I made soup with them. They seem to be popular products that can be used in various ways, even available for purchase online.

Visit date: July 30, 2018 (Monday) around 10:30 AM The other day, I discovered a trendy spot around Lake Toya. The place is cafe balher, located in a corner of the Silo Observatory, an old tourist spot with souvenir shops that has recently become popular among tourists from the continent. The cafe is housed in a stylish container converted into a take-out shop. There are wooden decks around and you can also dine in the neighboring container converted for seating. The menu is not extensive, but as it was hot and I was thirsty, I ordered the herb lemonade. It looked stylish and delicious from the appearance alone. As I drank, mixing the red syrup well, I enjoyed the refreshing taste of herbs. The location is also good, and I was able to find a nice place to stop by during a drive. Thank you for the meal.

Silo Observatory, located about 13 km from JR Toyoura Station, offers a stunning panoramic view of Lake Toya in Hokkaido. From the observatory, you can see Lake Toya, Nakajima Island, Mount Usu, and Showa Shinzan. The second floor of the observatory is used as a hands-on learning center. On weekdays around 9:30 am, there are many tourist buses parked, with lots of Chinese and Korean tourists taking selfies with selfie sticks. The observatory entrance has two stuffed bear displays, but their faces look quite worn and eerie. Inside, there are signs in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. The popular choice is the drinkable yogurt, which is made from fresh milk from a dairy farm near Date City in Hokkaido. It contains probiotics and has a smooth and creamy texture with a mild sweetness. It's delicious! You can also purchase it online if you're interested.

Herb lemonade shaved ice in July 2017, 380 yen On the way back to Sapporo. It's a refreshing break for our dog. There is a small free dog run here. This is my first time stopping by this facility, so let's take a look around. There are 5 large tourist buses and the inside is crowded with loud people from a foreign country. In addition to snacks, there are Hokkaido-like souvenirs such as wood carvings and deer skin. Let's leave quickly before we get too overwhelmed. Before getting in the car, let's have some shaved ice! There is a small prefab on the premises selling ice cream, etc. There is a young woman staff member. Is she a new employee? She made the shaved ice while looking at the memo on the wall. I was a little worried, but she handed me exactly what was on the menu. The ice was the normal crunchy type. I like both fluffy and crunchy, so it's okay. The syrup was lemon with no herb flavor. It was refreshing and I liked the taste. Thank you for the meal.

I saw the TV broadcast of Jalan and the visuals looked delicious, so I decided to visit. It seems that a new place opened in May on the premises of the Silo Observatory. I had never tried the white sweet red bean soup from Okadaya at Lake Toya, so I was looking forward to it. Maybe it's because of the Jalan effect, but there were quite a few customers. The view from the observatory overlooking Lake Toya is stunning. They said the white rice cakes were sold out, so I had to wait for about a minute. That's okay! It took a little over a minute to prepare, but that's okay. However, they had already put ice cream in it. Is that okay? Oh, the soft serve ice cream from Makke's has melted quite a bit. The visual is different (laughs). Are they really going to serve it like this? It's a bit disappointing. I was looking forward to it, but now I feel sad. Maybe I should have just had the regular cold white sweet red bean soup at Okadaya. Even if it's melted, the taste might be the same, but my excitement has decreased.

Hello~~~ This time, I visited a drive-in with a view of Lake Toya. Unfortunately, I couldn't see anything due to the fog, which I heard was actually steam. I was curious about the ice cream tempura, which is said to be the original, but it was a bit pricey so I decided to pass. The ice cream tempura I had in Tokyo was only 300 yen, haha. I tried the drinkable yogurt here, which is apparently rare to find. It was delicious, with a thick and creamy yogurt-like taste. Thank you for the meal!

From lunchtime to an odd time slot. However, it's too early for dinner. It's quite difficult to find a place to eat around this time. I was told about a cafeteria that is open even during such hours, so I decided to go there. The 1st floor has a snack corner with a simple counter and small tables by the window, and the main part of the shop seems to be like a souvenir shop. It looks like an old drive-in style souvenir shop, with locally grown vegetables, Hokkaido souvenirs, and tour buses parked outside. The 2nd floor seems to be a large banquet hall for group customers, and if the weather is nice, you can have a view of Lake Toya from there. (The 2nd floor is available for individuals if it's not occupied). Even on this day, despite the bad weather, there were about two large buses parked, and many group tourists from Asia were present. When using the snack corner, you need to purchase a meal ticket at the register near the entrance first, and then enjoy your meal at one of the two table spaces next to the souvenirs on the 1st floor. The menu includes various types of ramen, soba, rice bowls, and simple snacks like curry. The area just behind the counter seems to be the kitchen, where the older ladies are working. It was very cold on this day, so I was contemplating between soba, udon, oh, they don't have udon, then maybe ramen... I decided on soy sauce ramen. However, the soy sauce ramen that came out had soft noodles and a very salty soup. The bamboo shoots had a mushy texture... I only managed to eat about 1/3 of it. I should have just ordered a rice dish instead! The table seats are directly in line with the automatic door, so every time it opens, a gust of cold air comes in. I had to eat my meal while still wearing my coat. This seat was too cold at this time of year. I have only tried the ramen here, so my evaluation is based on that. If I try something different next time, I will update my review. On a nice, sunny day, the view of Lake Toya from the observation deck should be amazing. Despite the unfortunate blizzard during my visit, the location of this place as a viewpoint and souvenir shop is great.

The rain (snow) has weakened. Lake Toya is visible below, but the strong wind continues to blow, causing raindrops to fly in from afar. Feeling helpless, I suddenly see the words "Silro Observatory" in front of me. Relieved, I decide to stop by. It's just a regular souvenir shop with local beans and crafts for sale. The restaurant on the second floor is currently closed, so if you want to eat or drink, you can do so in the first-floor café area. The light snack menu is good, but I highly recommend the local dairy farm yogurt for drinking. It's a taste that will captivate you with just one sip. I bought some as souvenirs, but ended up drinking them all in Hokkaido. It's the best yogurt I've ever had - rich and flavorful. The local frankfurters also looked delicious, so I bought two packs without even trying them on the spot. The observatory offers a decent view even in bad weather, and a spectacular view on clear days. Just nearby is the Mejiro Ranch, which is unfortunately no longer there. It's a reminder of the impermanence of things.

I stopped by the Silo Observation Deck and made an impulse purchase at the store! I bought the white pudding-made lassi "Momo Berry" by Makiba for a sale price of ¥290. It was a lassi with strawberries, black currants, and peaches, thick and rich, with undeniably delicious flavor.

While I was admiring the scenery, my husband went ahead and bought the "An Potato Chocolat" from Wakasaimo Honpo. Even though we had already bought plenty of sweets as souvenirs. However, this one was a big hit! It is a confection with chocolate cream, chocolate bean paste, and sweet potato paste. It has a soft texture and a rich cocoa flavor. It's a mix of Japanese and Western sweets, not too sweet, and only 124kcal! It's incredibly delicious! I think this will become a staple souvenir from Hokkaido for our family (I wonder if they sell it at the airport?). It's good chilled, warmed up, or at room temperature. By the way, the Silo Observatory is named after the silo that used to be there, but there is no silo now, and there is no iconic building for the observatory. Still, it's a nice spot to overlook Lake Toya!
