Osaka Mishima-gun "Fuji Sushi" is a sushi restaurant located on the mountain side. It reminds me of Mita, Hyogo (laughs). I wondered if they get many customers in a place like this, but when I entered, it was surprisingly crowded. The sushi set meal for 1300 yen includes 12 pieces of sushi, a tekka hand roll, and soup. It was really delicious and had great value for the price! I can see why it's so popular. I also noticed the sashimi set meal being enjoyed by the customer next to me. It also seemed to have great value for the price! I'll definitely come back when I'm in the Takatsuki area. #Takatsuki #seafood #sushi #lunch #cost performance #cheap #hidden gem #popular with locals #Fuji Sushi

Thanks to a mom friend's recommendation, we visited the restaurant for the first time on a Saturday afternoon. We looked at the menu board outside, and a staff member came out to take our order. My husband and I ordered the Sushi Set Meal (deluxe) for 1,430 yen. Our 6-year-old and 3-year-old sons wanted to order the Kids' Sushi Set Meal, but we were told that it required a reservation in advance, so we decided to share the regular Sushi Set Meal (990 yen) between them. There was a sign at the entrance stating that using cell phones for calls or taking photos was not allowed. Inside, the restaurant was much larger and more elegant than we had imagined, with a calm atmosphere. Despite it being around 11:15 am, the place was almost full, mostly with elderly customers. When we placed our order, we were asked if we wanted wasabi or not. We opted for wasabi, but our kids wanted salmon and tuna, so we had to put wasabi on ourselves. I thought it might be better to have the option of no wasabi (or served separately) for my portion next time. The sushi was large, thick, and satisfying to eat. The miso soup even had a big clam in it, which added a nice flavor. The coffee jelly dessert was delicious, especially when milk was poured over it. The staff members were attentive, looking around the restaurant and offering refills on tea. When we finished and left, there were 7-8 people waiting outside. It's a shame that photos were not allowed, as the restaurant was beautiful and the sushi looked great, but I understand that they have their reasons. Overall, it was a great restaurant that was clearly popular for a reason.

After a long time, I went to a sushi restaurant that doesn't rotate^ ^ Located near Hankyu Minose and JR Shimamoto Station, up in the mountains... Next to the bus rotary, this sushi restaurant offers great value for the price! I have been there several times, and the sashimi platter + a separate plate of sea bream, tempura platter, chawanmushi, etc. were so filling that my stomach was about to burst. Oh, I forgot to take photos of the sushi and sashimi...

I stayed at my friend's house in Shimamoto-cho and they took me to a restaurant which they said is the only place in Minase that always has a line. The exterior looked normal, but inside it was very stylish and had a calm atmosphere. There were four of us and we all ordered the sushi set for 2,800 yen each. It had been so long since I had been to a non-conveyor belt sushi restaurant, so I was really excited! The food was great, starting with the clam miso soup which was delicious, and the main nigiri sushi had a generous portion. I thought the soy sauce was a bit light, but the ingredients were very tasty. The tempura had three shrimp in it, which was amazing. The cost performance was really good! We even got chocolate ice cream for dessert and left with our stomachs full. I think it was more affordable than a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. My friend is so lucky to have such a good sushi place nearby that even does delivery!

■Revisited in November 2014 - Matsukado Bento (Reservation required) ☆4.2
I had the Matsukado Bento (reservation required) as part of a kaiseki meal for around 3500 yen (I forgot the exact price). The sushi set and the quality of the ingredients were clearly on a different level compared to the regular lunch sushi sets. It was definitely worth making a reservation! The sushi, sashimi, tempura, simmered dishes, and everything else were all carefully prepared and delicious with good portion sizes. The dessert, hojicha ice cream, was refreshing and tasty. Honestly, while the sushi set was delicious, I felt like I could find something similar in other restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the Matsukado Bento. I would like to come back for another occasion.
■October 2014 - Sushi Set ☆3.5
I went for lunch on a Saturday around 11:30 am, and there were already a few customers waiting outside. The staff took our orders while we were still outside, so the service was very smooth once we entered. I ordered the sushi set (upper level) for around 1400 yen. The fish was fresh and the portions were generous, with the rice being just the right firmness. I particularly enjoyed the bonito tataki. I noticed that the contents of the sushi sets of other customers were slightly different, but everything looked delicious. The coffee jelly dessert was bittersweet and tasty. However, perhaps due to the holiday, there were many customers arriving by car, and the parking space was limited. To accommodate this, the service felt a bit rushed, like an assembly line. The atmosphere was not conducive to lingering, but the interior was modern and beautiful. I would go back again as the food was simply delicious.

The restaurant is located in a residential area just up from Shimamoto Town Hall. It's easy to spot because there is a bus terminal in front. They specialize in fresh seafood dishes with large portions. The lunch set is very filling, with a dessert of coffee jelly included, perfect for those who want to take their time. I had the assorted sushi set, which was fresh with thick slices and large rice balls, so the 12 pieces of sushi plus the thick roll filled me up. When it comes to the quality, the sushi was okay, not exceptional. It might be better if they made the pieces smaller and lowered the price a bit. Next time, I'll try the tempura set or sashimi set.

I used it for a holiday lunch. Although it was not a standout score on Tabelog, I heard that it is popular in the town because lunch is cheap and luxurious. I had visited the shop before and noticed that there was always a line during lunchtime, even though it is located in a rare high-rise residential area that requires a bus or car to reach. The shop is located in front of the rotary area of the residential complex, with plenty of parking spaces scattered around the rotary and behind the shop. When I arrived around noon on that day, there was already a line. I wrote my name on the ledger in front of the store and waited for about 10-15 minutes before entering. The interior was much larger than I had imagined, with counter seats and several table seats. There was also a raised area that could accommodate more than 10 people. The interior had a more luxurious feel than I had expected. Perhaps because of its large capacity, the turnover seemed to be fast. On weekdays, they offer sashimi set meals, but on holidays, they only have nigiri sets. I ordered the Nigiri Set for 1300 yen. The plate was filled with a variety of nigiri sushi, along with miso soup and coffee jelly. The toppings included squid, fatty tuna, tuna, salmon, beef, bonito, egg, sea bream, scallop, octopus, and clam. The pieces were larger and thicker than those at conveyor belt sushi restaurants, and the plate looked quite luxurious with the toppings packed tightly. Considering the quality of the toppings at this price, it's understandable why this place is popular. Additionally, you will leave with a full stomach, so it may be more cost-effective compared to spending around 1000 yen at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. I think it's a good restaurant for the locals.

This area is often visited for work, and as I was looking around, I noticed a line forming before noon. I usually bring my own bento for lunch, so I had been eyeing this place for a while. This time, I had the chance, so I arrived a bit earlier than usual. By 11 o'clock, about 80% of the seats were already taken, showing its popularity. When I entered the restaurant, it had a sushi restaurant vibe with a clean counter. I ordered a sashimi set, and it came with various side dishes (grilled sardines, simmered pumpkin, tuna sashimi, chawanmushi) and sashimi (tuna, red snapper, bonito, escolar, salmon) which changes daily. It even came with coffee jelly, all for only 900 yen. That's a great deal! Considering the price, they need to have a high turnover, but it seems challenging with mostly elderly customers. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my meal.

I revisited the restaurant. This time, I arrived before 11:30 am, but the shared parking lot was already filling up with cars one after another. Within a few minutes, it was almost full. You can park about 10 cars, but it filled up quickly. This time, I had the sushi lunch set (upper) with 12 pieces of nigiri and 1 hand roll for 1300 yen! As usual, the young chef was briskly managing the kitchen. I imagined that enjoying a meal at the counter with sushi made by this young chef would make for a delightful evening. The sushi lunch set arrived shortly. Each of the 12 pieces of sushi was of such high quality that it could easily be mistaken for something used on a TV show, far exceeding what you would expect for a 1300 yen lunch. The cuts, thickness, and presentation were all top-notch. "Delicious" is the word for it. The hand roll was also quite large, with high-quality seaweed. The cost performance of 1300 yen was excellent. I have decided in my heart to challenge the eel lunch set next time. Thank you, young chef.・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・First VisitI didn't know there was such a popular and prosperous restaurant in Shimamotocho Wakayamadai, so I was disappointed. So, I went to Fujisushi. I arrived around 11:30 am and when I looked around the bus rotary, there was a crowd in one spot. I was sure that must be the place, and indeed it was. The restaurant was almost full. It was quite spacious and had a cool vibe that seemed to suit jazz music. However, it was completely different from the typical chain or high-end conveyor belt sushi restaurants. The sushi case at the counter and the chefs standing inside. These were genuine artisans. The strict voices of the chefs could be heard clearly, not sparing even the waitstaff. This atmosphere was great. The sincere attitude of trying to serve delicious food earnestly was conveyed. The service was quick from ordering to receiving the sashimi set meal (900 yen), and the quality was excellent. The sashimi was moist and had a nice texture, a true representation of sushi craftsmanship. The meticulous knife work enhanced the taste. The chawanmushi, side dishes, simmered fish, and coffee jelly dessert were also top-notch. Delicious, affordable, and fast - this place embodies the essence of a sushi restaurant. I felt like I wanted to visit this restaurant every week. Thank you for the meal.

Fujisushi is a hidden gem located in a hard-to-find spot on the outskirts of Osaka. Be prepared to wait in line for their lunch, which is worth the wait. The portions, taste, and freshness are all top-notch. In the evening, you can enjoy a stylish atmosphere with jazz music playing while indulging in delicious and fresh fish dishes, perfect for a date or family outing. The sashimi is incredibly fresh, with melt-in-your-mouth fatty tuna. The sushi selection is diverse and visually appealing, showcasing the chef's skill and taste. Tempura and carpaccio are also highly recommended. This truly is a hidden gem of a restaurant. Make finding this place part of the fun and you won't be disappointed. Your stomach and heart will be full and happy.

The restaurant is located on the first floor of a slightly distant housing complex from the station. The interior is clean with a counter, tables, tatami seating, and semi-private rooms. The lunch menu offers great value, with options like tempura, sashimi, and tonkatsu. The lunch set includes a main dish, three side dishes, and coffee jelly, all for just 900 yen. The restaurant is known for its popularity, with past live radio coverage attracting long lines. In the evening, you can enjoy fresh fish and a wide selection of drinks in a calm atmosphere. Although it is a sushi restaurant, the menu includes a variety of dishes like sashimi, fried foods, and grilled dishes, making it hard to get to the sushi. The restaurant offers a great selection of shochu and local sake. The atmosphere is different between lunch and dinner, but both are great options. Lunch service is first-come, first-served with no reservations (please note that there is no lunch service on Sundays). However, it is worth waiting in line. Reservations are available for dinner, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely meal.

It's been a while since I had lunch out. There was a line even before the store opened. It seems to be a popular place after all. However, the ratings are low. I feel like it used to be rated higher before. But there are also many high-scoring comments. Has the price of lunch gone up a bit from before? Is that about it? I am seated at a table by myself. The food of the customer next to me smells fishy. I have a sushi set for lunch. It's delicious. But the smell is bothering me. After finishing my meal, I relax and wait, but they ask me to pay because there are customers waiting. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It hasn't even been 30 minutes. If the restaurant is busy, is it unavoidable? Should customers be more considerate? Either way, I now understand why the rating is low.

Many people may not know about Shimamoto-cho, but there are various restaurants in the area. I went to the bus turnaround square in front of the apartment complex for work. I searched on Tabelog and found a sushi restaurant. As soon as the restaurant opened at 11 am, I entered and ordered a sushi set. The sushi was delicious and reasonably priced at around 1000 yen. They also had shrimp fry and other options on the menu. Before entering the restaurant next time, I will make sure to decide on my order beforehand. When visiting this area again, I might consider visiting the Suntory factory for a tour or the nearby shrine.

I went there today. In front of the store. It was Setsubun, so they were selling ehomaki in front of the store, but the sign was already saying "preparing." Huh? It's only one o'clock, right? I asked the person selling ehomaki, and they confirmed that they were still preparing. They usually finish by around one o'clock. I had a similar experience at a Western-style restaurant in Nagaoka that I visited after seeing it on Tabelog. By the way, I've been here a few times, and if you don't mind the "hurry up and leave" vibe, I think the food is good for the price. In terms of taste, it's better than a regular set meal restaurant, and there are many options so you can get full. The sushi is also well-made, so in that sense, it might be a good deal.
