I visited the conveyor belt sushi restaurant "Daiki Suisan" in Sakai City, Kita-ku. The restaurant had been undergoing renovations every time I passed by, but recently when I passed by, the renovation was complete and the exterior of the shop had been renewed to a chic look. I had been planning to visit soon after seeing the new look, so I finally made it. On this day in early March, it was a bit rainy and due to the decrease in outings during the pandemic, the restaurant was less crowded than usual. The ceiling embedded with downlights, elegant wooden ceilings, and the woody and sophisticated interior give a luxurious feel to the place. It feels like a high-end sushi restaurant, putting me in a good mood. While looking at the menu, I noticed that the menu had been upgraded with higher quality items, but there were still affordable 100 yen options available, so I ordered a variety of items while considering my wallet.
"Tuna Salad" for 100 yen - A satisfying 100 yen dish with plenty of tuna. It's much tastier than the typical 100 yen tuna salad and very delicious.
"Mackerel Sushi" for 200 yen - The mackerel has a good amount of fat and is a slightly less acidic type of mackerel sushi. I would prefer a bit more vinegar, but the fatty mackerel is delicious.
"Tekka Maki" for 200 yen - It's not specified as bluefin tuna on the menu, but it's so rich and sticky like bluefin tuna. It's delicious and worth the price.
"Ume Shiso Maki" for 100 yen - Compared to my favorite "Kishu Nanko Ume Shiso Maki" at another conveyor belt sushi restaurant, it's less flavorful, but still tasty for 100 yen.
"Meat Udon" for 200 yen - The udon is ordinary, but the meat is tender and delicious. It's a great deal for 200 yen.
"Deep-Fried Bluefin Tuna Bloodline" for 250 yen - Despite being bloodline, there is no fishy taste at all, and the bluefin tuna is melty and delicious.
"Hand-Rolled Sakura Shrimp" for 250 yen - I'm not a big fan of sakura shrimp, but it's a seasonal item and limited in quantity, so I tried it.
"Bluefin Tuna Chutoro" for 350 yen - The bluefin tuna melts in your mouth and disappears, leaving only the vinegar rice. It's truly delicious.
"Aurora Salmon Toro" for 300 yen - It has a refined fat content, so it melts nicely but doesn't leave a heavy aftertaste. It's delicious and worth the price.
Overall, even though the restaurant was already on the high-end side, after the renovation, it feels like it has become even more upscale. However, compared to other high-end conveyor belt sushi restaurants where items start at 300 to 400 yen, this place offers great sushi at a lower price. It's a perfect place if you have a bit of extra money and want to enjoy good sushi at a great value. Bon appétit!
