On a certain day in November 2022, the 43rd day of my 2-night journey around Japan (end of Chapter 2, 10th day), I started in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, passed through the Kanmon Tunnel, and entered Kyushu. I made my way to Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture! For now, this is the end of Chapter 2 of my journey around Japan. I will stay here for 2 nights and then take a ferry back to Osaka. I stayed in a smoking single room with breakfast included for 14,600 yen. Route Inn Hotel Moji Port is located about 1 km along National Route 199 from Moji Port Station. One characteristic of Route Inn Hotels is that they are often located away from the downtown area, with few dining options nearby. There was a convenience store nearby, so I bought a bento box there for dinner. The hotel has a large communal bath with radium artificial hot springs on the top floor (9th floor), and breakfast is served buffet-style at the Hanachaya restaurant on the 1st floor from 6:45 to 9:00 am. For the first night, I chose fried chicken, omelette, potato, sausage, shumai, pickled radish, rice, stew, and miso soup. I also had water and hot coffee to drink. For the second night, I chose scrambled eggs, sausage, squid ring fry, potato mochi, rice, and miso soup. I had water and hot coffee to drink again. Personally, I really like the potato mochi that I occasionally see at breakfast in Route Inn Hotels, so I was happy to be able to eat it this time. Thank you for the meal.

I stayed at Hotel Route Inn Moji Port in Kitakyushu Moji Ward. The accommodation fee was amazingly cheap at 3,200 yen, and the parking was free! Normally, Route Inn hotels cost over 5,000 yen, so this price in the 3,000 yen range was really reasonable. This time, I took advantage of the telework support plan, where part of the fee is subsidized by the city of Kitakyushu, so I couldn't pass it up! For breakfast, they offered a buffet style meal typical of Route Inn hotels. The breakfast hours were from 6:45 AM to 9:00 AM, and the variety of food was more than enough. The hotel faces the Kanmon Straits, and I definitely want to stay here again.

☆ July 2015 In the evening, after eating outside and taking a shuttle back, the restaurant was still open. They asked if we wanted to have another drink, so we went back in and had another toast. We had some cucumbers as a snack and enjoyed some light drinks before heading back to our room. In the morning, we had a buffet breakfast and enjoyed various dishes. The miso soup was particularly delicious. We were allowed to eat as much as we wanted, but I decided to stop at 80% to avoid overeating. They also had a soup bar which was a first for me, and it was delicious too. They really put a lot of thought into their menu. Now, let's get ready to go out and have a great day. I couldn't get a reservation at Route Inn or Moji Port Hotel, but I had some business in Moji Port and stayed there. I only know Route Inn and Yokohama Bashamichi, both of which are great. Breakfast, which used to cost 500 yen, has been free for some time now. Despite the disclaimer that it's free, the quality is high. It's a Japanese-style breakfast buffet. I think there were Western options like bread as well, but I can't quite remember. For lunch and dinner, it seems to be a Japanese food restaurant.

I stayed at Hotel Route Inn Moji Port for a business trip to Kokura. The photo is of the breakfast. The mini omelette and thick tamagoyaki are a delight for egg lovers. I tried everything from sausages, chicken nuggets, fried mochi, to grilled mackerel. All the dishes were delicious. The miso soup was full of ingredients like wheat gluten, and you can top it with wakame seaweed and green onions. The miso flavor was just right and very tasty. You tend to overeat at the hotel's breakfast buffet. Thank you for the meal.

I stayed overnight at Moji Port and went down to the first floor for breakfast at 7:10 am. There was already a line, but it was a buffet style and everyone seemed to be taking their time getting their food. I waited for about 15 minutes before finally getting my turn. This time, I decided to go for Japanese food: white rice, curry (tasted like the old Bon Curry, a bit sweet), sausage (quite authentic), omelette, roast beef (pretty good), fried blowfish (surprisingly tasty), french fries, sautéed burdock, salad, miso soup, and yogurt. Overall, it was okay, but the atmosphere in the venue was a bit rushed. I wish I could have enjoyed my meal a bit more leisurely. Thank you for the meal.

Yesterday, I wanted to go to the conveyor belt sushi restaurant (Kaito) in Moji Port, so I stayed at Hotel Route Inn Moji Port. I had a free breakfast buffet in the morning. The grilled mackerel was delicious. I had both Japanese and Western food and my stomach felt like it was going to burst.

This time, there was no specific purpose, I just wanted to be in a different place for a night. I decided to take a short trip to Moji Retro District, which is about a 30-40 minute drive away. It's about an hour by train (JR Kagoshima Main Line) to Moji. I found a nice hotel, Hotel Route Inn Moji Port, which is a bit away from the tourist spots but has a drugstore nearby, a large communal bath on the top floor, and an izakaya in the hotel - it has everything! It's about a 10-15 minute walk from JR Moji Port Station towards Kokura. Upon arrival, I headed to the radium artificial hot spring communal bath "Tabibito no Yu" on the 9th floor. I soaked in the bath while enjoying the view of the Kanmon Straits, then enjoyed a canned beer and relaxed on a massage chair in the empty bath - it was a blissful moment that blew away all the stress and worries of daily life. The next morning, on June 18, 2020, around 8:00, I had breakfast at the buffet-style restaurant. Since it was a late hour, there were only a few customers like me, making it another quiet breakfast time. Hotel Route Inn Moji Port offers a wide variety of dishes, mostly using commercial ingredients, but they are quite delicious. The grilled mackerel was especially crispy and tasty! The okra with bonito flakes was also good. It's a breakfast that would fill the stomachs and energize the salarymen working in the industrial area, making them want to eat it every morning! It was a delicious breakfast. Thank you!
