There was a visitor from outside the area, so I thought if I were to have lunch in Sapporo now, it would be soup curry, so I decided to visit this place in Honcho, Makomanai. It's a convenient location with a few parking spaces behind the building, so you can feel at ease even if you come by car. Due to the visitor's flight schedule, we arrived at the restaurant early, and after we entered, several other customers arrived one after another, showing that it is indeed a popular place. Looking at the menu, I chose the "Tender Chicken Curry." The soup seemed to be the basic one here, called the "Okukoku Soup." I requested a spice level of 5. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be served, so we didn't have to wait long. The large chunks of vegetables looked very appetizing. When I tasted the soup, I could feel a unique sweetness. Of course, I could also taste the spiciness and the seafood flavor promised by the Okukoku Soup, but the sweetness seemed to dominate, making it a bit difficult for me to fully appreciate the taste. I wonder if it would have been different if I had ordered a higher spice level? The soup was certainly delicious, but it didn't quite match my idea of delicious soup. This is probably a matter of personal preference, so this is just my own impression. The chicken leg was tender and flavorful, and the other vegetables, being large in size, brought out their natural umami flavor. Recently, due to various reasons, I have been consciously trying to eat more vegetables, and when I think about eating vegetables deliciously and in sufficient quantities, hot pot dishes and soup curry seem to be the perfect choices. I think the soup probably contains a fair amount of fat, but when you eat this much vegetables, the guilt somehow fades away (laughs). The interior of the restaurant seems to be in an old building that has been renovated, but the age adds to the charm of the place. The service was attentive and we had a pleasant time there. However, it may not be my first choice for soup curry. Thank you for the meal.
