I found out on Instagram that the long-established traditional Japanese restaurant "Ajimi," which has also earned one Michelin star, has started an "eel" restaurant for lunchtime only from August 1st. I made a reservation by phone the day before, and the staff's response was very pleasant. ^^* It seems that this will not be a limited-time offer, but will continue in the future. This area is known for its nightlife, so it's a completely different impression during the day. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere, with counter seats being the main option, but I also saw private rooms. I received a mini-sized beer as a gift for registering on LINE. Since I had finished work in the morning before visiting, I enjoyed it without any worries. This amount of alcohol will disappear with a little sweat. (laughs) The lunch menu offers two options: "Seiromabushi set meal" and "Eel and Wagyu beef stone-grilled set meal," both priced at 3,500 yen including tax. Credit cards are accepted. Additional toppings are available for an extra charge. I was torn between the two options, but I chose the unusual "Eel and Wagyu beef stone-grilled set meal" as you can have "Seiromushi" elsewhere. The amount of eel is said to be larger in the "Seiromushi" set. The small appetizer was a nice break with boiled vegetables. There was also spicy miso (with mild spiciness) and pickles. The highlight was the appearance of the eel and Wagyu beef stone-grilled dish! It was showtime from there. First, I sprinkled plenty of cheese on top... As a cheese lover, I was thrilled.♪ Next, it was flambéed... with fire. As someone who loves things that look good, I was happy with the presentation. ^^ Finally, it was done! It looked delicious. ^^ The rice had a slightly sweet sauce mixed in, which tasted good. It was a bit too much for me, but it might be just the right amount for others. The eel was of normal thickness, but it was steamed, making it soft and tender, which I liked. The thick omelet was fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth soft. It was delicious. The meat was Wagyu beef, and the slightly sweet seasoning suited this dish well. Since it was cooked in a stone pot, you could get your preferred level of char. ^^* The broth served with it was also tasty. I would be happy if they could include a small amount of condiments like green onions or seaweed. The pudding was creamy. I also liked the design on the teacup, featuring "Birds and Animals in the Flower Garden." This was my first time having eel prepared in this way, and I enjoyed it until the end with the delicious ochazuke. I ate until I was full and skipped dinner that day. (^◇^;) The staff I spoke to on the phone, as well as the other staff, were all very pleasant, making it a great lunchtime experience.
